  1. Well I had the brace removed and I am astonished at how much my leg atrophied, literally it looks like a bamboo cane with we plastic bag draped over it! Being able to do the simple things again are great - pickup a cup of tea and walk to my desk, go to a shop and hold a basket or use a trolley, even the morning scrum on the 0738 is quite refreshing! With all that said it is probably the most pain I have experienced since i broke my knee 7 years ago. Completely forgot about the lightning bolt that shoots through your bones when walking downstairs, i would love to film the faces I must pull when walking around! Oddly one nice thing is watching the seasonal runners out and about, it annoys me to see them running so slowly which is giving me a goal to work on I smashed the 1000 press up challenge, in respect of Muhammad Ali I did my thousand then did 5 more sets only counting once it started to hurt. I didn't quite hit the 500 pull ups (310) but I reckon i can get that by August. I hope at Christmas i can go for a celebratory from Edenbridge back to Croydon to the in laws so it'll be a nice slow run Something really good has come out of this whole process, in that I have re-assessed a lot of things in life and have moved a lot of my attention away from friends & work to concentrate more on my wife and my own professional endeavours.
  2. What a dunce, i flicked straight past it! Looks straight forward enough. Put me down please Tim
  3. Cheers Flex, much appreciated. So this is the home straight, Friday is 6 weeks and it's been tough so far, I think it's been tougher on my wife having to deal with me though! Last week was quite a dark period peaking on Tuesday night, without going into detail I was broken, completely and utterly and beers did not help at all, Wednesday I was ok, Thursday I did a solid hour of pull ups and olympic ring work which got me back on track. No booze now till I am physically and mentally strong again. On the bright side, Friday I should be allowed to put one foot in front of the other. I'm not expecting to be swinging a stick and clicking my heels out of the consultants office but if i can complete 5m of walking without aids I will over the moon. And with a bit of luck I can cut the grass and give the Z blast in the Kent countryside!!
  4. Once I am back on my feet I've got a list including the pads to sort. The yellow stuff pads were a world of difference when I had them fitted over the stocks and would have them back in a heart beat for fast road use. I have not tried the others listed but just looking into the price comparison: Pad, Price for all 4 corners, Operating Temperature (degrees C) Yellow Stuff £136 150 - 1000 Ferodo DS2500 £180 20 - 500 HAWK- HP 5.0 £208 37 - 650 So on paper the yellow stuff should be pretty bleak when cold but they appear to bite more than stock, has anyone experience between y.s to the ferodo & even Hawk? Tim
  5. I spy with my little eye
  6. So not a huge amount to report on top of this, except the extra movement I am allowed. lost pretty much most of my hard earned mass. However I am back at work and have purchased some olympic rings to keep my occupied! By the time my brace comes off I want to achieve 1000 press ups in 1 day (500 is my previous PB) 500 pull ups, wide and close (non of this kipper pull up rubbish) Anyone else had micro fracture surgery and returned to running?
  7. Just picked up Red Alert 2 Yuri's revenge from my origin account, doesnt like windows 10 much but saving every 5mins is helping. Forgot how good the C&C series was back in the day!
  8. please get a vid when it's mobilised! Also would it still work if you sat on it, bit like this guy but cooler
  9. LOL I should have clarified a bit - fps on campaign mode. But you don't buy these titles for campaign it's all about online multilayer. Mass effect 2 \ 3, not to mention fallout have stolen weeks if it added them together probably best not to think about it or write it on a public forum in case my wife reads it!!
  10. You expect to finish a game in 15 hours? Yep for sure, bf is about 10 hours done and dusted on the hardest setting, same for COD series - i like to session it for about 3 days then casually drop in and out of multiplayer when i get free time. I should probably get out a bit more
  11. 15 hours of Doom and I am still not at the end, game is relentless and demoralizing. You kill a boss by the skin of your teeth, he dies then they spawn him again or the spawn 2 of them! Possibly one of the best fast pace fps I have played. Usually I am a battlefield bod, loved BF2 and still occasionally dabbling in BF4. Just need to finish Doom before the sun re-appears!
  12. after having some knee surgery with breakthrough stemcell treatment I thought I would document my progress, this is for 2 reasons 1. Let's be real, if you have broken your leg you it's depressing sitting at home not being able to do anything especially if your usually active! 2. It's potentially ground breaking surgery in the UK for anyone that is young and at risk of osteoarthritis 3. There's nothing on the internet about people that have had this done in the UK The story.. Many moons ago (May 25th 2009) i broke my knee - tibia plateau fracture , Of all the climbing I have done, outdoors - El Chorro, Wales, Harrogate, Lakes, the list goes on I was bouldering indoors, final move a 7a which i had fallen on numerous times. Shouting to my mate who was half way to the changing room "One more go at this!" I took a bad fall and broke my knee. 1 year of op and rehab had me running again, 5k in 20.38, in 2014 i even started to train for Miami pro 2015 with Gabriel Sey https://www.youtube.com/user/FearlessAcademy an online coach who is a friend of a friend and a dam good coach. Being a wimp I chose not to compete though my training stats were good deadlift was up to 200KG, bench 110KG, squat 140KG - fair game for someone that only weighs 75KG and is 5ft7 my symmetry is shocking and I don't compete to take part! Fast forward 6 years and after fell running in Scotland with my uncle I found myself back in the MRI tube having my knee examined, first consultant agreed surgery to fix a tear, however when I entered his office to arrange surgery I smelt cigarette smoke and was put off. This wouldn't be my usual reaction (rules are there to be broken right?!) but it didn't sit well with me. So a bit of research in the field led me to a consultant called Datta Gorav - he is a orthopaedic specialist and a leader in the UK in stem cell regeneration of the cartilage in the knee under the name of Abicus procedure. He agreed to meet me in Southampton spire where he diagnosed a torn meniscus so I wouldn't need the Abicus treatment. Operation day Recovery would be 2 weeks and driving when i felt ready... Before I went for anaesthetic I signed a waiver just in case Mr Datta found something whilst poking about to consent to the Abicus. Next thing i woke up in recovery in agonising pain , when I looked down i had a knee brace and various holes in my body. First thing i did - checked my hip. Bingo big dressing, I had the Abicus! Fast forward 2 codeines and I was munching through a panini after being Nil by mouth for the past 16 hours, right right as rain. A picture from the inside of my knee: Here is a link to the http://vimeo.com/101600792?width=840&height=580 The protocol for recovery is 6 weeks with 25% toe touch weight baring (TTWB) Brace settings 0-2 weeks - up to 30 degrees 2-4 weeks - up to 60 degrees 4-6 weeks - up to 90 degrees 6 weeks - Meet my consultant to discuss the next 6 weeks I'm now 2 weeks and 3 days in, off all painkillers and resting up well, hopefully this will do the trick! Next check in will be Thursday when i see the physio for a progress check
  13. Just got Doom, haven't played the series since Doom2 (dipped a toe in doom3 but it was sh1te) This one though is bloody awesome.
  14. Well well fixed that Bingo ZMANALEX - YHPM Tim
  15. So being a 'Intelligent' life form I managed to leave a litre of oil in the footwell which in line with sods law managed to become unscrewed. Yes the whole litre which previously was in the bottle is now now a glistening ocean of Mobil 1's finest So 5 things have been done 1. Soaked up as much as possible with kitchen towel 2. Rubbed in a fair bit of fairly liquid 3. Added in water and rubbed into a lovely lather after some time 4. Discovered my VAX is broken 5. Dried with 2nd roll of kitchen towel After 2 hours it is still absolutely soaked through, so it'll need a bit of time this weekend. Can anyone help, perhaps point me in the direction of a product that might get me out of this situation ? Tim
  16. After a couple of months reasearching the NATS alarm, getting quotes to have it replaced, no easy task and plenty of unncessary $$$. I decided to just have a tinker. 1. I have a new fob from ebay, looks the same, has the same spec on paper as my present fob too 2. I have the original fob I grabbed 1x tiny screw driver and the pack of duracells i used to replace my original fob, added this to the second fob and tested.. no joy opened the original fob and popped the battery out to keep safe before i checked the contacts... 'panasonic' looks like i managed to swap the battery twice somehow!! Bleeding eeeijat! So now with new battery, i put the car into program mode and the key sync'ed first time, for the first time in 2 months i can remote lock and unlock my car Unbelievable.
  17. HI, So for the past few weeks i have been having a nightmare with the Z, started out with the unlock intermittently not working. This eventually manifested into the unlock not working, then the engine wouldn't start. to clarify this meant, 1. Key in ignition 2. turn first few notches, sounds like fuel pump primes 3. Turn to start starter 4. Hear click but no starter engaged. Whilst waiting for the AA i figured i would get some new batteries (I was in a supermarket car park) and re-sync the fob using the following guide. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c6/prescience/350Z%20Images/keyfob.jpg I managed to wipe the key then re-add it. Then for one of the less clever moments i tried to repeat and well the fob will not sync at all. I can get into programmable mode (hazards flash twice) but the dammed thing wont sync. AA turned up and push started to get me on my way. What I have tried since, 1. I have tried re-syncing, can get into program mode but it will not recognize my key for love nor money, 2. Tried getting one of these from ebay but have the exact same result. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231734791976?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT 3. Entered program mode with the master key then tried to sync entered program mode with normal key 4. Disconnected the battery for 20mins 5. Performed 'the pedal dance' to reset the ecu In brief, new batteries in fob, can get into program mode but fob wont sync nor will new one For the time being I basically have to open my door, lock the car from the internal lock and close all the doors. If I lock using the key the alarm springs into action each time I unlock and intermittently i do get the same failure to start but after a couple of clicks it works. Any ideas bar going to Nissan?
  18. Very nice! Will the dongle work on a 350z (presuming you have a 370?)
  19. Gotta agree with the comments about z vs turbo'd cars - the power delivery is completely different so much more balanced on the Z. I think there is a perception that the modern TD's are quick simply because of when following one, the brief spurt of power means you cannot constantly keep on the power. Though looking at a bmw 330d 12~ your looking at 0-60 in 5.1 @ 254bhp / 413lb-ft weighing in at 1610KG. Dam, just picked my next car
  20. Talk about bringing up the past, after a year of wondering why my Z was so slow and having small gains with various repairs. I think i have finally sorted everything, car is now mint! Had the car go to Abbey for a new clutch, left with a new flywheel, and xy pipe (other was apparently toast) got the car on the road and my god, uncontrollable monster! I've come to love the power delivery of the NA over the forced induction and 100% agree with Ponsonby handling is a whole different level to the coop, though large roundabouts in the wet are enough to brown my pants if im not careful!
  21. Hi, is it possible to PM them this way too - just noticed my passenger window is doing the same
  22. It was a red one! Saw it again yesterday going down Croham Road !
