The nissan ones are 250 vs 150 arent they? (Each!) If your still not 100% the OEM replacements are just as good, good luck either way :)

They are. Not as bad as the £370 a side Nissan are asking.

Im sure the replacement parts are good but the garage who are fitting them say they are hit and miss with regard to fitment. Knowing my luck I'd get a bad pair.

One seller on here has moog arms for £125 which is tempting.

  2. It wasn't easy to remove. I used grips on the shaft and a wrench on the knob.

New nismo one looks and feels great. Really pleased with it.

  3. I've decided to go for nissan banana arms. I'd rather keep things original and they're not that much more expensive.

Just have to forget about a new exhaust for a while.

  4. Volvo are just trying to reduce costs and increase profits.

    I have a 2017 XC60 D5 polestar as a daily. It's comfortable, well spec'd and surprisingly quick....ish.

I like it, so I test drove the new xc90 D5 when it was released and was horrified. I was expecting the same 2.4 5 cylinder twin turbo diesel as my car, but it has a 4 pot 2.0 diesel. It sounded cheap, really struggled to move such a big car and just felt wrong.

The salesman gave me some bs about being eco friendly and that's the companies priority. Kind of falls flat when you find out you can't buy a v40 with a smaller engine than the xc90!?!

There is also nothing eco friendly about a 2.0l diesel struggling to move a huge SUV.

    Every Volvo gets the same 2.0l, 4 pot engine whether it's a £17k v40 or a £70k top spec XC90 D5. It's ridiculous.

My ball joints weren't great either once I'd got the old ones off so was glad to have swapped the whole lot :) The rubber boot is starting to let dirt etc in by this age usually. As Adrian says the bushes mean you'll need to take the old arms off, press the bushes and refit. If the garage is doing it all then it might be cheaper but i'd guess its around 2-3 hours labour so the different between paying the garage vs swapping it all yourself isn't great tbh. I just object to paying people to do jobs I can do myself for a lot less, but that's mainly so I can give Adrian and Alex more of my money :p

I'm going to replace the arms I think. Ball joints can't be in great condition after 12 years.

Everytime I think of a new exhaust something expensive crops up.

Which brand and did you go with?

    Are these eBay specials awful?

  6. I thought the same regarding the w brace. They seem to think it's the subframe rather than a brace. They must have not seen many Z's.

Thanks for for the heads up re the bushes.

Thought id call nissan for a laugh. £950 and a 28 day wait for a w brace and 2 banana arms.

  7. My car just failed its MOT due to excessive corrosion on the w brace and failed rubber bushes on the front suspension arms.

Surely I just need to replace the bushes and not the arms as the garage have suggested?

The arms are fine, but the guy at the garage said "it can be difficult to remove and replace the bushes".

    Thanks

Have you tried just twisting it? I've had my knob off a couple of times and it was never on super tight.

The gear surround pops off really easily though, just pull from the rearmost part up. There's nothing you can really break.

    I'll try that first.

I'm glad I seen the thread about removing them as I would have probably damaged my gearbox if it's on as tight as most are.

Beautiful!! Where did you get that lol??

    I got it from rhdjapan.

I was worried it might take a while to arrive but i only ordered it 5 days ago.

  10. I'm about to change the gearknob on my z.

Ive seen a few vids and threads where people remove the trim surrounding the stick, to grip the stick with mole grips.

Is there any reason why they don't just wrap a cloth around the gaiter and grip the stick without removing anything?

im scared of breaking a clip/tab or something removing the trim.

    Thanks

  11. I think the most important thing with these roofs is keeping them well lubricated due to their over complicated design.

Some say they won't operate in cold temps but mine is works fine on cold days.

Not much help with your issue I know.

My350z has a roadster section with loads of info on various roof problems.

  12. Great cars. And the 1 year deals at £299 per month are very tempting.

Ridiculously quick on uk roads but a bit sterile and unexciting for some.

  13. Possibly the O ring on top of the tank where the pump seals down ?

Could well be. I've got a feeling it's a slow leak so something like that would make sense.

It's going for its mot this week so it will get sorted.

  14. I'm confused. Just had a mobile mechanic out to fix it and.........no leak.

Could it be the fuel has dropped to to low a level in the tank? I assumed it was a line because it only leaked when the engine was running?

It was a dry day when I noticed the leak, pissing down this morning.

  15. People say you get what you pay for... I've had a japspeed on for a year with no sign of any issues so far. As said, we all have different budgets and spunking over a grand on an exhaust is too much for me. I'd say go for it if you like the look of it

If you look on US forums some expensive systems have a lot of issues. Injen and stillen seem to get a lot of bad reviews regarding quality and longevity which surprised me.

Exhausts have gone up considerably since the last time I was on here, no doubt due to the weak pound. Makes Japspeed look even better value than they did previously.

  16. Older autos are bad if youve driven a PDK, DCT or newer ZF.

My daily is a 2017 xc60 D5. I got it because of the high spec and big discount at the time. I wanted an auto initially, but had to order a manual as I found the auto unbearably slow and sluggish. The dealer looked offended when I said it was dog ****.

Only way to know is a test drive as mentioned above.
