  1. Just as a follow up, the car is covered is swirls. I assume I use the swirl remover after the clay bar ? Do I then need to wash the car again, or can I go straight to the paint cleaner, polish and wax.

I have all the gear but no idea. :)

  2. How do I get rid of tree sap that has been baked on ? Fortunately it is not on my Z but my daughters Alfa. The Alfa was mine for 16 years so still attached to it. :)

Tried tar remover, bug remover, WD40 and white spirit. My fingers are rubbed to the bone, and I think I might have got a little high on the cocktail of liquids. :headhurt:

    Please help I am desperate.

  3. Nice 350 in black leaving West Wittering beach car park 04 plate I think. My daughter also said she saw a 370 parked up with a personalised plate beginning with a P. There was a mad rush to get out as plenty of thunder and lightening about, but still managed to get a few red bits from the earlier sun. ;)

Going through Chichester was followed by silver 350, 55 plate.

Unfortunately I was driving my wife's Jazz today, so couldn't waive at anyone. :)

  4. I had it on a previous VW, and it worked great. However the one on the 370z just feels rubbish. You never know if it is a steep enough incline for it to engage, and when it does engage, it feels like its holding you back when you pull away

The VW system will engage all the time, and the moment you reach biting point it has disengaged before you even feel it. You just cant trust the one in the 370z!!

    That's what I find.

I am old and ugly enough to know how to do a hill start without help. This just seems to hold you back, and it sounds like you are riding the clutch. Unfortunately my drive is on sufficient a slope that it kicks in when I go to put the Z in the garage.

Mind you there are a lot of things I love about the car, so I suppose I can put up with this niggle.

  5. It's a PITA but what I found is that if you hold the car on the brakes, just enough to stop the car from moving, it doesn't engage. Where as if you press the brake firmly it will engage.

No way of disabling it either

    I will try that.

  6. My Z has an automatic brake which stays on for a couple of seconds on a hill start. I assume it is so I don't need to use the handbrake, though not sure I want to test it on a severe hill. :scare:

Am I supposed to wait until it releases before pulling away, and look like I have fallen asleep at the wheel ?

For some reason the Alfa I have had for the last 16 years didn't have this extra. :)

I did try and search this, but presume do one has ever been daft enough to ask ?

  7. Loved my 156 which I had for nearly 16 years. My daughter has it now and she seems to love it just as much. I did look at buying a 159, but couldn't find one I liked, and then some how ended up with a 370Z. :)

Still keeping an eye out for the new Giulia, as I think I have must have some Italian blood in me.

  8. Looks like it has less visibility out of the side windows than the 370. :) I will check it out tomorrow to see what all the fuss is about.

Alarm clock set for 6.00, but still not sure I will miss the Goodwood traffic tomorrow. Looks like it will be wet as well. :scare:

  9. I agree with you there, I have just put £150 in super plus for a sunday blast with some car nut mates in north wales and it was worth every penny.

I don't think running costs are high at all, Fair enough the tax is high but servicing is cheap for a high performance car, Mine is doing 28-ish mpg and my insurance has just come in at £154 for the year, Not bad for a nearly new nismo of which I don't think I will ever see another one on normal road use, So quite special in my opinion :)

Running costs not high? Tyres, fuel, 9k service intervals, brakes? And that insurance sounds extremely cheap compared to the norm.

Running costs on mine have been pretty low. Filled it up twice in three months. Insurance just over £200. An advantage of buying new is no nasty unexpected running costs for a year or two.

I do play golf though which cost me a lot more than running the Z. :scare:
