Thanks for the replies. Between 2700 and 3500, hmmm just like you said that is motorway cruising speed. The drone at any other time I am not fussed about.

I am not planning Berks or Decat as I cant be bothered with the MOT issues.

Anyone with a Non-resonated cobra system is the sound a deep burble? Better still anyone in the Gloucestershire area with either the cobra exhausts? Youtube really does not do justice to picking between the two.

I am in two minds!

Like a loud deep sound from my exhaust, not raspy. Have an opportunity to sell my 6 month old scorpion exhaust. (Came with car when I bought)

Would like a nice burble at idle and a deep roar through rest of revs.

People seem to say you get drone on the non resonated cobra, can someone tell me between what rpm does the drone occur please?

Also open to other suggestions.

£3600, that is ridiculous! Good luck with finding a non rip off stealer dealer. Sure you can get it done cheaper than that.

perhaps its me but my Z sounds lovely, nice throaty burbling noise

Like you I've moved from an Alfa to a 350z. I had a GT Blackline for 3 years (1.8 TS). I do miss it a lot but I'm loving the Zed at the moment

Always liked the GT Blacklines, I was considering the V6 GT or Brera, but decided Z was something different. So far very happy with the Z, handles superbly, but I do miss the Alfa for sure.

Really nice car. Credit due for doing it all yourself.

Will like to know how the car rides on the Eibachs?

Is there any reason why you don't want the pro kits ? Just fit them on my Z and love them :-)

Happy with the Eibach lowering springs? Do you have a before and after picture?

I prefer a slow car during the hire time - why - because when you get back into your Z you fall in love all over again.

Think I will have to investigate a bit further into what I can do about the noise. I like being Loud and Obnoxious!

Like above, are the HFC's more to produce a raspy sound rather than the low down grumble?

I too have scorpion exhaust, it's the quietest of the aftermarket options by all accounts, however the sound on mine has been transformed by the addition of a Berks HFCs. It's not got that low down grumble (I think you need two more cylinders for that ) but it sounds much better for them when I put my foot in, and also when I come off the gas.

 

There's loads of options for more exhaust drama, so see a few other Zeds and see if there's a set up out there that makes a bit more of the noise you'd like. There's some extremely good traders too, so you won't be short on ideas for long.

Thanks for the advice, yes after that low down grumble, from what I have searched on this forum people are saying stay way from the Berks HFC if you want a low grumble. The HFCs are more raspy. Is this right?

So I took the plunge over the weekend and got myself a 2005 350Z with 50K and 2 owners as in the pictures. IMO it looks great. Love the Nismo kit on these. I had a Alfa Romeo GTV V6 for 4 years which I loved.

Very sad that my Alfa V6 is going (it has found a new home) but the Z is very different, in a good way.

My initial thoughts (and sorry but cannot help but compare against the Alfa)

The Z feels much more solid and screwed together. The Alfa was a much more rawer experience, The Z is quicker for sure but it does not feel/sound it, again I think the noise and drama in the Alfa were so much so that it made you feel quick (Don’t get me wrong it was quick with 220 bhp). The GTV punched you back into the seat at 4,000rpm and again at 6,000 rpm whether the Z pulls smoothly and consistently all the way through the revs.

Z is able to corner alot harder and faster that is for sure, really is a planted car in the corners. Have to be honest currently this is one of my favourite parts of the Z so far, handling is fantastic.

My biggest issue currently with the Z is the noise. Or should I say lack of it. I had a Supersprint exhaust, CDA induction and Powerflow middle section on the Alfa, and it was beautiful. It had an epic deep burble to it. The Z sounds to be honest - boring. It has a Scorpion Exhaust which is only a few months old but I would like more noise. Its a 3.5 litre V6, I would like it to sound like it. Even at idle there is no rumble! Any suggestions on giving my Z a deeper throatier sound would be appreciated.

The Nismo kit on it looks great, although I am considering lowering it already, and it definitely needs some kind of rear end difuser to finish it off! Looks like I am getting the modding fever already!

Overall I am really happy with the Z and am looking forward to becoming part of the club with you good folks.

Thanks for all the nice comments about the Alfa. Yes I do look after my cars, I love driving and cars so always feels good to look after them. Anything that needs doing gets done and to a high spec. Important probably more so with Alfa than Nissan as the Nissan is probably more reliable. The 350 club also seem a like minded bunch of people who have a passion for there cars, so looks like I would move from one cult to another. (If I move!)

From the comments it would seem the move from a GTV to a 350z would be a good one. I drove one on the weekend, It was comforatable and ride was less harsh than in the Alfa, the power was great, although I did find it very linea with the power. Constant power, but no punches like you get at 4,000 and 5,600 rpm on the Alfa V6. Over all I did like it alot. Hence why the move to a Z is under consideration. . . .

I moved from a 156 to a Zed in 2004 ... never regretted it but I still might go back to Alfa ... you'll do a few more MPG in a Zed and with the right 'zorst, the sound will be as nice

Firstly that is one of the nicest Alfa GTV's I've seen and I really like the colour/wheels/exhaust etc.

 

Although on paper the 350Z is definitely better performance wise there isn't a lot between the two really. Imo though the 350Z is definitely a better looking car and so far I have found my own Zed to be reliable with performance I'm very pleased with.

 

Sometimes it's just nice to have a change and I'd have to say the 350 is a great car to own so should make a worthy replacement for your Alfa.

Thanks for the nice comments, I also think its one of the nicer GTV's. I think you have summed up my thoughts perfectly. It is a change I am after, nothing wrong with the Alfa, just feel lke something different. Performance wise think you are right, not much in it. But RWD could be a little more fun . . .

Hi All, first post into this forum.

Currently a proud owner of an Alfa Romeo GTV V6. Have had 4 years of constant smiles with the Alfa. Despite what everybody says they are very good and reliable cars if looked after well.

Always had a soft spot for the 350z, am now considering purchasing one! So thought I would join up and get some thoughts from you all and go from there. . .

Attached are a couple of pictures of the Alfa. Would be really interested in anyones views of a potential move from the GTV to 350z. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, good or bad.
