  1. Ok so I recently raised a fuel question and the results showed we've got a few petrol gurus out there. I got a lot out of it.

Following on from that I've been wondering something and this one is just out of interest.

    Does a mix of 1 part 97 and 1 part 99=98 ron?

And Yes, I got my calculator out and I found that mathematically it does.

What I'm wondering is does blending work that way also or does the way the manufacturing/composition of the fuels mean that isn't the case?

Just wondering here. there's no financial or other motive behind it, I don't think there's any price difference between them so it wouldn't be worth it.....

ok that just brought me to thinking......

    maybe there is....

    99x3

    +

    95x1

    /4

    =98

    cheers.

  2. 370z.

To me it has more of the 240z,260z resemblance and I'm liking the old cars these days.

I also think it looks meaner with the more prominent lines esp flared arches v the 350z smoothness.

  3. hmmmm. a little bit condescending.

    J.C. never stooped that low.

some fat old guys are the masters there...

good looking girls in tight pants and leather. going sideways.

Sabine could give those guys some free lessons.

  4. I suffer from OLD AGE being 51 but my ZED is getting me over this problem I've now managed to get it reduced to just a mid life crisis :teeth:

    hmmmm. maybe I think alike.

but seriously, I'm not so tough on it, have a slight lactose intolerance -cmon humans aren't meant to drink cows milk anyway!!! only babies are meant do drink mothers milk. so it's a cultural thing that kills me. but i can deal with it and like it so have dairy daily. Have en ex-gf who had genuine severe IBS but she has worked through it eventually. Another who was officially depressed but has also worked through it. And the rest. OMG who doesn't have problems!!!

So my opinion is it's real and and i'm sympathetic. I get the feeling a lot is self inflicted, and cultural, people are too picky these days, none of the 'you'll eat it all' and 'you get what you're given' upbringing that toughens em up and enables variety.

  5. I've hired many times from goldcar in Spain. never had any troubles, real cheap. And i never take out any excess cover, just the basic hire.

All of em will bleed you dry for excess though.

I take out icarhireinsurance for excess cover. couple £ a day.

Only experience with them is that I got a flat in Scotland and I made the executive decision to change it on the spot(although that's not allowed in the t&c's but I was in highlands and wasn't prepared to wait around for the RAC man) and the hirer - think it was Europcar hit me for +£100 for my troubles.

icarhireinsurance came to the party and reimbursed with a standard paperwork application.

  6. har har!

I've always wondered about this one but never been too worried about it, nice to know but so thanks for the answers.

My bike also does the same big gasp also when I open it and it's only a 15l or so tank.

Explains it as my top up routine is to do it when fill light flashes or shows '---'

  7. I'm a recent 370z owner. Standard issue 2011 manual gt.

    here's my 2c.

I've just started playing around with the syncro rev. and the more I get used to the car the more I'm really surprisingly impressed with it. Really glad I have it, probably will be a 'must-have' feature for me now.

Initial feeling is you can switch it off if you want some engine braking or want to drop it back to help kick it sideways but it's really neat at any other time.

I've got an Ecutek lined up which apparently improves the sluggish standard responsiveness which will even more improve that area.

Standard seats a nice and have the luxury features if you like that however I'm keeping an eye out for some of the new Nismo Recaros as the fit could be improved.

I like the standard issue 19 rays but if I had got the 18's it gives the opportunity to change em for some 20's or some other cool non standard wheels. -win-win situation.

  8. Just had to get a ticket for Goodwood FOS, will see the winner of round 1 there!

VR46 will be hill climbing on the Sunday, CS27 is there too!

and also not to mention a few other bike guys will be there...:

John Surtees, Jim Redman, Giacomo Agostini, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer.

    all star!

  9. Can't watch at home - stupid Sky, they'll get nothing from me.

Great start to Cal, 1st of the non factory prototypes. Keep up the good work!

Nice start for the Ducati guys, both are quality riders and Dovi showed last year he can do it without any handicap needed. That 20% extra fuel allowance shouldn't really make too much difference I hope, esp as it's more the front end feeling they've all been complaining about since the 800 days and not a problem with power and speed.

  10. tna impact is on now if anyone wants a taste of what it's all about.

Weekly on challenge channel Sundays 9-11

It's about the only 1st run program I tune into now since motogp went away from BBC and now JC's put an end to TG.

    All round quality entertainment!

  11. I can't get interested in the 3 class race that gp has become.

Could even say this year has gone to being 4 class with factory ducati given a special break cos they're so crap.

Having all these classes means they now got the numbers up and avoid being a 5 bike race.

So it kind of means the racing is fairly well fixed.

I find Moto 3 the best watchable for racing excitement and moto2 being on standard equipment so I tune out when the gp guys race as it normally looks like a continuation of their qualifying.

WSB is good for having the manufacturer count of the top class of bikes and being up there as fast as gp.

BSB has a good format as well so I try watch that one where I can.

In other news, C.S. is back! Doing the Suzuka 8!!! Maybe if gp gets it s#!t together he'll let them have him back....

  12. Ekona, your suggestion sounds like a better arrangement for me than the ones in the links.

I took a look at the courses and they are crazy prices and more suited to people with some experience and wanting to spend the big £ to take it further.

I've also done full days on the bike with gp and WSB winners and never feet they are really good value.

Your suggestion is similar to how bike days operate, there's always a few guys from the operator out there available for free for guidance and correction sessions and also they keep an eye on the people on track who haven't asked but can use some help and take them aside for it.

And for my needs, being to see what the car is capable of and to improve my skills while not having intentions of going racing or track day crazy.

I think having the instructor in the driving seat would also be worthwhile though, I can think of 2 at least laps where that would help me:

1 lap to show what the car can do in capable hands - as a benchmark/long term goal type thing.

1 lap to show what I should I can aim for as a first timer.

possibly further laps to demo areas for improvement when encountered.

And after seeing what those other guys charge, no problem covering the lunch burger :)

But seriously, it's more like it would be fair to sort you out for something to cover your petrol and time at least.

  13. nice work!

that would be me! and more- having no talent whatsoever.

I wouldn't mind getting myself out there for a shot of a few laps after seeing that.

Bedford is probably one of the best tracks for cars too I'm thinking. Silverstone too big, Donington too hard, Lydden too short, Rockingham has walls, Cadwell too narrow to name a few.

Car limits day sounds like the way to start, any others out there available sooner? On a suitable track for a novice, somewhere where they put cones out on the apexes for novices and maybe even an instructor in the passenger seat, if an event like that exists? Half day would be enough.

I'd be ok with the rest, having done enough bike track days so fine with tracks themselves, going full power as much as possible as well as being on track with 30+ others.

  14. I had same thoughts just last week as I'm considering between them at moment.

I had no idea about them but from that I've found so far is that Abbey can do either.

And I'm told that both will give the same gains but the ECUTEK has few extra's that can be set up.

i.e. launch control and flat foot shift.

I'm sold on the flat foot shift - if it's anything like what i think it is from the name. My #1 change to the bike is to fit a hm quickshifter =no clutch use and throttle release on upshift.

It's the best fun change possible

And my guess/hope is launch control is T.C. that works better than the standard or is it just me who doesn't know how to drive and finds the back getting loose while T.C. light also goes on?

  15. thanks for the motivation! :)

it got me off my ass and I'm getting me one of these too now. arb's are gonna have to wait.

would the ecutek take a different map for open and closed?

I did similar for my bike and was told baffle in and out made no difference, the same map would apply.

  16. I think this explains Apple's fancy new metals pretty well . . .

    bwahahahahahahaha!

"the cases are as epic as we promise them to be"

go fashion victims! good news is you get to repeat very soon when the next release is out. can't be there in a years time wearing something obsolete or showing you're poor and don't have the issue that came out the day before.

always remember rule #1. nobody has an old apple product!

but seriously. what happened to the nismo watch? I would buy that one.

  17. hooray now it can be one of those boring forgettable programs that I and how many hundred million people don't watch and where will the morally superior and more sophisticated nobodies out there move onto complaining about something they don't like for their 2c worth.

Watch out Keith Lemon as far as I can think you're the only serious contender left for the angryness.

    :scare::rant::angry::yuck:
