  1. I have booked for an Ecutek.

Anyone got one in the 370Z with a standard clutch and launch control, flat foot shifting enabled?

Abbey advises a clutch upgrade to go with that functionality but with the cost of having the clutch done along with my car usage-No drag racing or track activities I don't think it is worth spending the big £ on/£ I don't have so I'm thinking i'll not get that functionality enabled.

  2. yep, all those unknowns are true. all we know is he wants a go and in the past he's done what nobody else can do until now. the Duc used to kill careers, VR is the only other guy to be able to revive his after being on one of those. and the other 2 current team riders are getting it back up there which has taken 5 years without him.

he's been test riding, he's up for Suzuka means he's been training.

More excitement, possibly VR is riding Suzuka also this year so we'll see them both on track.

ticket to Goodwood to see them both also has arrived :D

Casey always wanted to race, he's not prepared or able to put up with rules the series owners made to keep it tv friendly and also how the paying public have an 'ownership' expectation of the riders, kind of how like how everyone expects at the zoo that the tigers are not sleeping and they bite someone. or how reality program people are idolised for just making themselves available and without having any skills.

All he wanted to do is race, i suspect his want to race is still there and he thinks he will be able to put up with the bs or has forgotten how punishing it was for him.

  3. missed it again. - worth it as i was out there driving Llangadog to Byrnammam- and back in the Z. All time crazyest road so far for me. scary.

sounds like they're having fun on the tour.

Why MM and same with CS in his day are the best for me is their win or crash trying mentality. no team rules, accepting a non winning place with a strategic ride, just full power all the way.

Looks like Casey wants in at moment also but Honda are denying - Unbelievable!!!

Good for the Kwaka in WSB - I'm a new zx6r man myself and a big fan also of the zx10r and H2.

  4. similarly to this thread, I've always been really puzzled about it and found it strange but never been in a place to ask the question:

Why do so many people love American culture so much?

e.g: Fried chicken shops everywhere. Every shopping area has all the big names, Starbucks, Burger King, Mcdonalds etc.

A huge number and variety of ads on tv for no apparent reason feature American accents.

I'm fairly well travelled and haven't noticed this in any other country and coming from Australia where it's the opposite attitude, Starbucks failed there and running a tv ad in the accent would put you out of business fast.

  5. I'm sure I saw a Tesla in Folkestone West car park the other week, have been looking out for it again daily. Wondered about the charging situation but then by seeing it's there means something is in place.

Great review from someone with such car experience who has put £ down to own proper enthusiast drivers cars in the past with the Z and Beemer.

I saw a Tesla S on one of the Balerics about 1.5 years ago and went 'What's that???, I want one'

Their lotus one doesn't really count and the current ones were only in Europe and USA but the more i found out about it the more I wanted in.

I was prepared to put my £ where my mouth is and bought shares in the company, currently about +37%- which doesn't mean a whole lot knowing the fickleness of the markets and also being a new company, just my way of getting on board.

And what i noticed the other month is that the country that leads the way in all things automotive- Japan, is surprisingly full of Prius', which perhaps is also a glimpse of the future.

  6. nice ducati.

I really want a little Panigale. That's after an H2 and a KTM Supermotard and then any dirt bike... lol

Taking the zx6r to Aragon this month then Portimao in May.

    2015 is looking good!

Thanks mate. Well 1 liter plus ducatis are real thing. I had b4 this one 848 its a nice bike but.... This 1098S has Termignoni race Ecu, Termignoni complete exhaust, K&N air filter producing real 180 hp without this new age fancy electronic anti this anti that. It's man versus machine bike. And quite nasty evil meaning machine :D

I just lose out to my mate on an 848, last time out there by the end of the 900m straight on Almeria he'd have pullied away a few lengths.

Another guy on a 749 could't get past, my 636 is too fast! and now i've had the ecu replaced and mapped it's gonna be even faster.

Won't try keeping up with my other mate on his 1098, he's ex racer so kicks ass anyway cos he know's what he's doing out there plus no way is my little one gonna keep up with the big bike.

How good was the weekend just gone for the bike?

Went for quick ride Saturday afternoon then home and washed it.

Got up Sunday, saw a few guys gathering on Folkestone harbour on spotless bikes so went and washed it again then took it to Rye.

There was the usual about 100 bike count parked up there.

All the way there and back lots of friendly bikers about doing the same and you get to go the front of the q at any stopping time and then pick the gap and pass any cars while on the open roads.

The things you do and don't get in the car, the mass gatherings everywhere, friendliness, V stopped and waiting in the massive procession watching the engine temps rise for the really slow drivers to get going.

What a great country to be on a bike in Summer.

  7. I'm out there next week for the fitting.

When I'm out there I wanna drive this road.

Does anyone know the road in this clip?

    http://www.topgear.c...deos/5178566001

What a car as well, it was the only possible rival to the Z the end, the small issue of the price counted it out but :(

Great clip, this guy rocks, he's doing what I do, was up and out there at first light this morning to drive the country roads for an hour. And when the weather suits it will be out there on the bike.

  8. Folkestone to Basel in one day is not my idea of a fun road trip. Take plenty of red bull with you!!

    could be worse... :)

the other week I did Folkstone to Durham in a day. Detour via Rockingham speedway to visit friends for a few hours.

Did a few hundred miles sighseeing while up there.

    and back the next day.

It's too easy in the Z.

Calais to Basel will be a much nicer, easier drive. Only decision is to pay the toll roads or go the parallel scenic roads and save the £.

You're rigiht about the Redbull, I always have the essentials ready in the car: pair of emergency sunglasses and a couple cans rockstar or the cheapest no-name brand drink.

  9. This looks like a really good event, I'm gonna try get along to the next one, even just for a look.

I might just have to get the gran turismo ps3 back out in the meantime also :)

And I've done lots of Lydden on the bike which is like a mini-brands indy only a bit shorter, and tighter so it should make it easier going to a larger version if i decide to get out there.

As far as I can think it would be a good car track, quite an easy one to do, only potential is the druids exit and entering too fast into a couple of others but they have lots of runoff.

Does anyone know of any links to videos of a manual 370z on the track, I'd be interested to see how they do:

    Paddock hill bend speed.

    braking point to enter druids

    how to exit druids.

how to take Graham Hill bend

  10. yeah nice looking car...

    I'd also get a 911.

both of those would be some where on my list.

starting with a current gtr and have the most advanced technology and best performance available

and a hellcat the most powerful standard issue.

and get a late 70's, early 80's 911 and have the coolest car around town.

and a hsv gts to move people and stuff.

and a lambo and cut the exhaust short so it's loud and breathes fire, the meanest car around.

actually I probably wouldn't have any place for this one now i get there. ah well bad luck to me.

  11. yeah the grid is full, that was the whole purpose of it, otherwise it would have been the last few years and still would be a 4 bike race- unsustainable and not tv-able which is what it's all about.

I just took a look at results on the motogp site.

The results are factory prototypes + ducati prototypes with their advantage making up top 6.

then the factory seconds guys + suzuki prototypes(1st year in so not fully expected to be up there)

then they don't even list the remaining crt guys who were there to make up the numbers.

  12. You're probably right CJRamze.

For my Z's - the370z has quality boots fitted already by the previous owner and I've only had it just over a month and for the zx6r, which gets some road and a lot of track use I spare no expense in the tyre dept and no question it's going to be the best available, they're the single most important item for both bike and car of these types.

O.P, you're right, the previous owner is a fool, or too cheeky putting those nasty things on just to help the sale.

You say it's a shame to change them and they have loads of grip- Solution: I'll take em off your hands and deal with the grip. I'm looking for some cheap tyres and rims. And a place to smoke em legally.
