  1. Im going to perform my own p3 service in the next few days but need to get hold of a few bits first. Does anyone know what size plastic tubing fits over the bleed nipple on the brakes. Do I need a syringe to get oil into the gearbox? (where could I get one from?) How much coolant do I need and can it be mixed 50/50 with distilled water? (ill be using the genuine nissan stuff) Finally does the clutch need bleeding or would it just be sufficient to syringe some fluid out and replace with new? Cheers, Liam.
  2. Just got off the phone from adrian flux and they won't accept it, so it looks like I'm stuck with my current insurer for another year, this is what really annoys me about insurance companies, slimy underhand tactics to force you into a renewal, what is really frustrating is how I asked the person on the phone numerous times if the 10 month scheme was universally recognised by other insurers and they confirmed it was. I think I complaint letter is needed here, as good will they should at least match adrian fluxes quote.
  3. I think he's on about shuffling the wheel, rather than just crossing your hands of each other.
  4. Does anyone know if adrian flux accept the 10month ncb accelerator schemes offered by elephant/diamond as 1yrs ncb?
  5. Just to update this, if you have insurance with admiral/elephant/diamond/bell etc their prices vary massively day by day, I got my renewal down to £947 (23/1yrncb/exhaust/student) that was a couple of days ago, checked again today and managed to get it to £860 which I think is fantastic. I tried Chris Knott but they said they would only consider me if I was 27/28 yrs old
  6. I ran through a quote today and it gave me the option to add cover to mods for an extra £29.95/yr.
  7. To put it into perspective I bought my uk gt zed for only 200 quid more than the asking price of the one in the add, same mileage aswell, this was last november. Something I noticed was prices seem to drop closer to winter, its not a convertible but I guess it does fit that same (summer, rwd, sportscar) bracket.
  8. The same thing happened to me a week ago, 350z's were supplied with mcgard locking wheel nuts so as gixxer said all you need to do is contact them. They are in germany but its free to phone them 00800 25 99 34 00. Thats the direct number to the order hotline, £18 quid and free delivery, they ask for a photocopy of your v5 and driving license and a picture of the nut, thats it.
  9. Definitely stick to the pin ones, I was watching a video on the do's and donts of axle stands and jacks and it said over 200 people a year are killed in jack related accidents , i think that was in australia alone. On another note why did nissan put the front jacking point about 2 feet in from the front bumper, they don't like making it easy.
  10. Turbo, I wish , I think it must be the exhaust as it comes from underneath the floor, somewhere near the seats, I had the car on stands today and typically it decided to keep quiet.
  11. Its definitely not exaggerated, its much louder when driving the car, you can hear it at the other end of the street, maybe the video doesn't do it justice. The pads are completely solid and in person you can tell the click isn't coming from them. Is the diff supposed to have a small amount of movement, if you watch the end of the video you will see the diff jumping up and down.
  12. I really hope it just needs some grease, I bought new 4 new tyres yesterday, paid my insurance for the year and doing my p3, its an expensive month for the zed.
  13. Sorry I should have explained better, it does also click under load, I removed the wheel to try and locate the noise, its definitely not the pads, the loudest click comes from the diff, but i didn't get a very good chance to record it because my phone died. Im not using the hand brake I'm spinning the wheels in first gear than applying the foot brake, then spinning in reverse and applying the foot brake again, so on, so on.
  14. A couple of weeks ago I made a thread about all 4 corners making a click when I apply the brakes, we came to the conclusion that it was most probably the pads moving inside the calliper as it was on all 4 wheels, more noticeably on the back though. So before I bought new parts I thought i would try and diagnose the problem properly today, I jacked the car up and spun the back wheels, while applying the brakes. I can't really tell where the noise is coming from, it seems like both rear axles and the diff itself, the diff noticeably jumps up and down, should it do this Anyway, heres the video Im hoping its the common clicky axle so I can just follow a guide on here, but it looks more serious to me. Cheers, Liam.
  15. I had a look at the ratchet one first but I thought it looked a little flimsy, Im using one with a pin, but you've still scared me
  16. Not quite as disastrous as the situation in snakes on a plane, but its annoying the hell out of me. Every now and then a hear a hissing coming from underneath the car, it sounds like pssssttttttt......psssssssstttt.......pssst...pssssssssstttt, I could go on all day, its not really that loud but you can really hear it when you pull along side a wall with the window down. Any ideas what it could be, my only thought is a blowing exhaust, I've never actually heard one myself but I can't think of much else. At first I thought I had a deflating tyre, that should give you an idea of the sound. What could it be? Liam.
  17. Picked up some axle stands today and they look a decent height, if not maybe ill try the ghetto breeze block method
  18. At 19 I had a 2.0tdi A3, insurance was something like 2400 a year third party, thank god I didn't crash it
  19. Ive only got 1 ncb, I'm going to give them a call tomorrow anyway just to see, but I can't imagine them beating it, reading through the forum it generally seems under 25 low ncb drivers get the best prices with the admiral group.
  20. No other company can come close for my renewal than the above three, they are all the part of the same group. The woman on the phone said that it was positive that I was under 25, so they might be trying to tempt young drivers in I paid £947 for 12 months,1 yrs ncb, 23yrs old, moderate crime area, at university, exhaust declared, sticking my mum and dad on brought it down £200, it was £1150 at first. Every other insurer I tried wanted £3500 upwards, but all the admiral group prices were under £1000. Im going to try some of the specialists on here as this is my renewal price and they won't be taking it for another 2 weeks, I can't imagine getting a better price than I have though. Very happy
  21. Ive just reserved the low profile jack from halfords and the el cheap axle stands, Ive noticed that the maximum height for the jack is something like 36cm and the stands 40cm. Ive always had the luxury of using garage ramps, so can you easily get underneath the car or do I need a higher lift jack and stands? I will only be doing normal light/service jobs, gear/diff/engine oil etc. Cheers.
  22. Thanks for clearing that up
  23. I thought that would be the case cheers. Something else that is bugging me is the difference between a p2 and p3, I've tried searching the forum but all the posts I've read say theres no difference except the you get charged more for a p3 Surely that can't be right?
  24. I think your pretty much spot on, I recently had my 53 reg gt @ 60k advertised for 7k, I had lots of interest and I was offered £6700, decided not to sell in the end, but with this in my mind, id say an extra 2-2.5k for yours. I think you would have got more interest at the start of summer though.
  25. My car is due a p1, am I right in thinking this is just an oil and filter change? Im going to do the service myself, but what do I do with the book, would you write self service in the appropriate box? Im not sure if this would have much effect on the resale value of the car, what do you guys do, I'm certainly not going to pay for a garage just to do an oil change. Cheers Liam.
