  2. Cheers, checked before leaving for work today to make sure it hadnt been throwing oil out after yesterdays tinkering but all seemed good and dry so will assume its still where its meant to be! Will keep an eye out next time
  3. Well I had another bash during my lunch break. First of all started to undo and fumbled the allen key which thankfully fell right down through but still required the removal of the undertray yet again to fish it back out. With allen key retrieved, I fully undid and removed the dip stick with some minor persuasion - felt triumphant! Admired it, wiped it off and went to put it back in - what a swine! Must have been at it over 20 mins before it finally slotted back in and onto the threads. And now I have to do it all again when i actually change the oil at the weekend! Hoping it will be easier second time around!
  4. I was looking around it and thinking about digging out the dremel
  5. OK, so perseverance is the name of the game. Will have another bash at the weekend
  6. So ignore warnings about level checking, drain everything out - heard about blowing through with a straw? - add one bottle, close up and cross fingers? Sound about right?
  7. Is the Vortech V3 dipstick? Was going to give the charger its first oil change a bit early at the weekend. Jacked up the car, pulled off the undertray to access th drain tube, got allen keys out only to realise I was now scuppered by lack of imperial sizes. That will teach me not to research a simple job fully beforehand! Anyway, got a set today and went to undo the dipstick tucked away down the side but was then scuppered yet again by only being able to extract it part of the way before its stuck against the inner wing. Didn't really try to force it but just wondered if anyone else has encountered this issue and could advise if it was flexible enough to bend it over enough to extract it fully and more importantly, get it back in again?
  8. Mine did make a fair amount of cabin noise, was fitted with HFCs too though so not sure how that affected it. Was fine pootling around and cruising but put the engine under any load though and it was fairly teeth shattering until about 5500/6000 rpm when it went strangely quiet. I wouldn't fit one to another Zed that was my daily driver.
  9. Yeah, I preferred BBCs old men. Think Jake Humphries was good too, was a shame he left to be replaced by Perry. I also find myself a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of footage on Sky. I found the best balance of quantity and quality on BBC.
  10. Sure I read somewhere that DC has gone to C4 now? Despite always having had Sky I have always preferred to watch the BBC coverage. Just can't stand that old boys club on Sky of Brundle, Herbert and Hill. Hope that C4 do a decent job of things so there is still a good alternative.
  11. Did love the noise my last Zed made with the Buddy Club and Berks.

    Sub and amp

I got one in my shed - will go and measure it!
  13. I had an '03 registered in '07. Paid the cheaper tax bracket although the mycarcheck site thought it would be the higher rate.
  14. Needs to be get my fat ass underneath it!
  15. Fittted ebay struts to my last zed, less than half the price of SGS and did the job fine. They are a fairly simple thing and pretty inconsequential even if they do suffer an early failure so didnt see the need to spend any more.
  16. Excellent write up Jonny. I knew you'd put a lot of work in the car but didn't realise just quite how much until I read the whole thread through! I love the exhaust
  17. There is one already. Guess now there are two!
  18. Excellent write up. I cheated and bought a car with one already installed so its great to see how it all fits together!
  19. I got right into all this a couple of years back, kinda lost interest in recent times though. Loads of good guides and recommendations on Polished Bliss website and the detailing world forum. It can all get a bit too anal once you start down that path though! In general terms what Jeff says
