  1. The auto is also longer geared for cruising so is nicer on motorways, it's geared for 226mph in 7th at 7500rpm iirc !

Some of the USA chaps fit the final drive from the manual to help acceleration

  2. The auto is still the older style system, you know the thing you might find on camper vans and old mercs. Admittedly a very good version of it, but it's still a torque converter. It's ok, but not a patch on the modern auto dual clutch gearboxes.

I test drove both on buying and went with the manual because it was much more engaging.

Yes and no it's an electronic tiptronic box not a basic "slush" box , and I have a 7 speed dsg on my daily and the 370's auto is better in a number of ways . Many car makers are ditching dsg boxes and going back to conventional autos. Dsg boxes are complicated and can be troublesome

It's a preference thing , some prefer autos and some manuals , personally I find the manual box, dmf/clutch arrangement on the zeds agricultural , not pleasant at all in traffic

  3. Thought I'd update this thread for **** and giggles

Traded my 350 back in December to a Nissan Dealer for a '12 370 GT Edition 7 a/t

You will all be glad to know its rubbish ;) , not

Absolutely loving it , most of the niggles that I felt the 350 had have been addressed imo, the 7 speed auto is great , as good as my 7 speed DSG in my daily , premium connect is awesome , everything I want from ICE, the handling and brakes are better, the road noise is less but that could be because its an "Edition"

Downsides are even less visibility (thank god for the camera), seats not as comfy and quite how Nissan managed to make a car this big with so little storage space beats me but its not an issue for what i use it for.

and fwiw it seems to do about 24.5mpg  so happy days

  4. The snow mode button is in front of the gear lever opposite the hazard switch

On an 03 jdm it's the button closest The driver by the heated seat switches

Thought we were talking about 370s considering the forum

  5. I've not threatened you at all dunno why the hate?

Accusing someone of something they havent done is walking a thin line, nothing more.

All you have done is threaten and insult me , i really dont get it

Playing the keyboard warrior wont impress me as i really dont care what you think , and i've blocked you from sending me any more threatening pm's

lmao, I've not pm'd you once big man.

Theres no point in trying to pull the keyboard warrior thing with me either. Toooo many people on here have met me and know me well enough to know thats not how I play. I've been here long enough and seen too many people with attitudes like yours. It won't do you any good.

You have made an arse of it and have now tried to turn it around.. very unsuccessfully may I add.

Your pm was threatening in the eyes of this forum. You could have been a man and said it public.

Mod's check his mailbox please for any threatening pm's from me

Mate I couldnt give a f*ck what you think

I dont believe what i said was threatening unlike your "try saying that to my face" type comments , you saw 2+2 and made 5 thats all and then spend all time trying to derail a sale that will never be made on here

But thanks you just saved me buy a 370z

  7. So its better to put on rose tinted glasses and think our cars are perfect, if thats true why do so many mods exist??

I've had lot of experience to draw from many years of driving high performance cars I can tell you the good and bad of every car and bike ive ever owned.

"Immaculate" and "mint" are very relative terms, I could find fault with any car

I dont like the stone chipped front , yes i perhaps I shouldve bought a lower mileage one

I do like the BOSE but i dont like the lack of/poor ipod connectivity

I dont like the gearbox its agricultural and noisy

I do like the engine its smooth and progressive

    I do like the handling

Grip could be better even with quality tyres

I like the looks and driving position

I dont like the rust on the some of the minor bracketry under the car , not important and inconsequential but my GTT wasnt like it and that was much older, in fact my old Skoda wasnt like it either and they are known as a budget brand

I dont like the scratches on the door handles but Nissan have been getting this bit wrong for 20+ years

I know there is nothing that cant be sorted , well apart from that gearbox but the simple fact is that when I bought it I had a budget of £9k but I know have a budget of £15k plus the part ex

I know some might think it harsh but is a 18mth old 370z a worse car than a 6 year old 350z ?? Really ??

  8. I haven't threatened anyone, think Neil P is out of order, some kind of witch hunt going on, pretty trollish imo I expected better from this forum a simple pm would have sufficed. Dont really know what I'm being accused of but plenty jumping in with their pitchforks

I did have low ish oil pressure , I took some advice and was told not to worry, I didnt listen , i replaced the sender and noticed that no oil came out when i removed it , I checked with an external gauge (still low but not as low as factory gauge suggested as thats a good 5 psi out) , I had a sod of a job getting the new sender to seal up properly resulting in about 2 litres of oil over my garage floor , I finally got it to seal , reset the oil level and its now about 20psi on idle and 70+ psi at 4000rpm so its well within spec ,

I have photos, receipts and video of the car running taken today but believe what you will

I have spent literally hours searching the web , the knowledge base on here is very limited in all honestly and the HR variants often do seem to run lower oil pressure than the earlier engines, quite a few people on US forums reported similar one guy has done 40,000 miles on 3psi at idle according to his gauge and as others have said hot idle isnt so much of an issue really anyhow as long as the pressure comes up nicely and that was never a problem. I've yet to find a HR with either an oil pump or bottom end failure though , unlike rev ups of the same age since HR's dont consume oil at the same rate.

I suspect there was a bit of crap somewhere that the repeated flushing seemed to shift , but no im still not 100% happy with it and it will be going and seeings this is such a friendly club think i'll buy a GT86 and charge it ;)

I wont be selling the car on the forum anyhow , selling a car on an "Owners" forum always seems a cockeyed way to do things anyhow so what happens from this point on is nothing to do with anyone from here, reading a load of threads about previous issues on a car might however ruin the new car experience for the next owner.

No real conspiracy and nothing really to see here but dont let that put you off , I suspect some got the hump because think i feel the 350HR isnt good enough for me and thats probably right , its just not as well made as other Nissans I've had , sorry if that gets your back up somehow but thats the way I feel about it, I'm hoping a 370 will be better but i'm prepared to be disappointed

FWIW i'll be removing any pics ive posted , and will probably delete the content as that wont make any sense when the pics gone

  9. The "issue" you told me I didnt have anything to worry about as has another specialist?? :) If you'd wanted an update perhaps you should've answered my pm

The car is off to H-Dev for a service today prior to selling and will be double checked but I think its fine, problem looks worse than it is as my gauge reads 5 psi low.

So I'm not hiding anything and wont be selling the car on this forum anyhow so dont appreciate the inference.

  10. Like what though? my daily is boosted in fact double boosted but I like the power delivery of the 350 the flat torque etc it suits my driving style

Think essentially I want something with less miles that I can keep nice rather than have to spend a fortune getting it nice

Plus this is the first car I've had ever had my wife likes so I can increase my budget a fair bit :)

What is it that disappoints you about it? Did u buy a dog of a car?

    P1000502_zps582e9e5c.jpg

Its hardly a dog , no worse than any other 55k one I dont think, and the HR is much nicer than the earlier ones imo.

Think I should have bought one with less miles, the zeds dont hide their miles well, my GTT was twice the age and twice the miles and in better shape all round.

Think I have just found out i need to increase my budget to get the car I want, or spend a shed load on mine, which I dont really want to do so i'm looking at options, thats all.

I am fussy , I admit it i want mint or as close as I can get and I do prefer the 370 looks wise but its a lot of money to spend on what for me is a weekend toy but as I said the wife likes it so I can add an extra £10k to my budget

  12. SamN that's impressive!

To the OP - why are you buying a 3.7L engine vehicle if you're in the slightest bit concerned about fuel economy?

That's a pretty stupid thing to say really ! Everyone is concerned about economy to some degree , I have a very long history of thirsty cars and don't have a problem with it , my 350 does 24mpg or so on average according to the display and that's fine , some of the reviews I've read/watched on the 370z suggested 16-18mpg now that's a big difference , I've had cars with close on 500hp that were better than that.

So I don't mind a thirsty car but I'd want significantly more performance than the 370 offers

Plus filling up every 200miles is tiresome I've been there with my Evo 6 having an extra 120-130 out of each tank makes a difference to me.

  13. Thinking about changing my 350 hr for a 370 auto

Reviews I'm reading suggests the 370 is quite a bit worse on fuel than the 350 , guessing the auto won't help much either but any real world experiences ?
