  1. And fluke hope you dont mind but I'm gonna have to copy that carbon look as its sexy as fook
  2. I have a Import and it came with the jap satnav which everyone knows is pointless in the UK. So I ripped it out and installed this : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-INCH-Car-GPS-SAT-NAV-Navigation-Navigator-Speedcam-POI-MPH-FM-128-RAM-L45-/251044768269?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item3a736f2a0d I stripped it down to the screen and mini computer and fixed where the old screen was. I wish I had done a build thread on it, but I was to excited to get it fitted I forgot. It really is simple to do. It has already been done, by another member thats where I got the idea from, but it really is simple to do. Then i just stripped the car charger that comes with it and wired it in the the radio ignition live (fused) so that when the cars on it with charge it. As for the speaker I got a bigger one from maplins and swapped it with the one thats already on it. I should be getting my cars back in the next few days so if you like I can show you some pics, sorry I cant right now. If you have any questions on how to do it I'll gladly help out.
  3. Ah your quite far away from me, I was gonna suggest getting in contact with Julian at Garage D in watford as thats where my engine is being rebuilt/uprated. He also has a VQ30DET for £1500 for sale. fits straight in to a Zed. Nice 3ltr single turbo if you fancy a nice engine swap. I was gonna go for it but I wanna do a RB25 engine conversion next year! I am not so sure its thats simple to fit the vq30, do you know if they retain all the standard canbus system and how they overcome the throttle, 350 is fly by wire and vq30 is cable? You are correct with the throttle it just get put on to a cable instead of electronic, Julian said its really easy to do. He knows his stuff and he said it has the same mounts and fits straights onto the gear box. the only part thats a lot work/money is making the pipe work for the intercooler and a custom exhaust. Apart from that it goes straight in. There was a post somewhere on here that a dude in America had done it before and it worked really well. Think it was on your thread, i did a little looking about after you mentioned it and it is talked about a lot in the states but not many conversions actually done. Would like to hear more details about the wiring up, ecu and canbus stuff but cant seem to find any details on it If my engine ever went pop it would be something i would look at for sure I was so tempted as He has the engine complete with ECU and loom for £1500. If my engine had gone bang any other time other than christmas I would of done in in a heart beat, but Ive gone with a a full rebuild with uprated parts. Julian has said to me he wants to do a RB25 conversion on my car, so see what the funds say in the summer. I'd love to see one of the 35z-uk family do the VQ30 conversion, but not for the reasons their engine has died, cause no one likes hearing that.
  4. Very interesting to hear if they do

  6. yeah I should get my car back from my rebuild just after christmas, its gonna suck having to take it easy for a while but its gotta be done. Might have to take a few long trips to bed her in. I am way to excited though.
  7. i am using millers nano drive for the winter after my very expensive rebuild ,it's done 15000 miles and I've done 4 oil changes !I bought my 04 z with 50000 miles FSH I gave it a full service myself (because I don't trust anyone ) and only use super unleaded. She started smoking like a tractor on start up after 12 months of ownership. Abbey said the engine was in good condition but the oil control rings were knackered, I have seen a few smokey Zds so I personally am very cautious about this engine . So the only way you know you have a good one is if you have bought it from new . Did you notice and gains or improvement after using the nanodrive? I only ask as every review I have read said that they have, I'd rather hear it from a fellow Zed owner.
  8. Sweet nice one, if I cant go down this route I'm gonna do a RB25 engine conversion. so kinda at a cross roads ha ha
  9. I was gonna get some once I get my car back from a rebuild, herd good things about it.
  10. HA HA I was implying I was gonna change the oil you just assumed I ment to a thinner oil. I totally agree with what you were saying about the thinner and thicker. I'll say it straight next time On the subject of oil, has anyone herd of nano oil or something that sounds like that?
  11. They are still out there.... Yes you are correct but if your read what I wrote, I didn't say I was gonna but a thinner oil in the summer did I? I was replying saying I was running a thincker oil than what the other guy said, no mention of changing it to a thinner oil in the summer. So yeah they are still out there
  12. The description say its for 07 plate upwards though. or they all the same?
  13. I'm gonna be running a thicker oil, well until the summer.........Whenever that will be!!!!
  14. might have been interested but my zed is a 2003, lovely bonnet mind you
  15. He has a point, that would be sweet. Also if a little man came in the box and fitted it for you and if you return him you get cash back.
  16. worth asking but that ain't gonna happen, why would you want a bonnet to over hang your head lights ? You know like the head light brows you can get, like those but part of the bonnet,
  17. I dunno if it has been asked yet but a bonnet with a bigger bulge than the face lift one and also with a slight over hang over the head lights. Thought I might ask
  18. where did you pick the plenum up from, if you dont mind me asking? been looking at getting one. cheers dude
  19. Did you find one as I'm looking to? They look sweet as
  20. What about an oil swirl pot?
  21. If anything guages make you worry, but you are right. Does having a oil pan spacer in help?
  22. Yeah I do agree but in between checking the dipstick keeping an eye on the pressure can give you some indication. I know cause I noticed it when my engines was on the way out and burning oil, the relation between low oil and low oil pressure matched up. If my oil pressure dropped before my weekly check I would know to have a look. I would never just go by the pressure as I do love taking the dipstick out as its so easy to put back in!
  23. I use the oil pressure guage as well as with the zed, as mentioned before the dip stick is crap. when I had low pressure I was low oil, hence why I use it. I cant wait to get my car back with a freshly rebuilt engine so I know I can look after it and no other idiot has neglected it. I'm gonna look after the new engine more than myself ha ha

  25. Interesting to read, My engine died 2 weeks ago currently being rebuilt and from the looks of it it was due to the combination of low octane fuel and lack of oil. Just wanna say now that this was done be the previous owner/s. As I only had the car for 4 months before its started knocking. When Julian at garage D stipped it he said it was text book result of the bad fuel and lack of oil. Once it starts knocking and burning oil it was game over from there. Strangely enough going back to the whole RPM convo, when mine was running the knocking it was only really loud at 2,500 - 3,500 RPM. I was also running Mobile1 5-30 but with my new build it will be running Lucas oil and will be running nothing less than 98 octane that for sure.
