Well they are.......I've competed in EMMA events in the past with my ST170 and won and I can safely say that if you are fortunate enough to be able to install speakers like ones from the Pioneer ODR range that are £1000 a pair then you will have a setup that is easily 10x better than one with any £100 speakers. Mark Turner installed and helped me with my setup back then. Car audiophiles will recognise that name as being one of the FOUR Masters, who has won competitions at Master level all around Europe competing for Team Pioneer. He spent around £30k on his install and it was like having the person singing in the songs right next to you. The sizes of the trophies speak for themselves! I know most of you are probably wondering what I'm getting at so I'll conclude.... With sound equipment you do get what you pay for, monetary value may not necessarily be directly proportional but it is damn close! I know that my £1500 sound system in the Focus was easily 10 times better than the £100 or so that I spent on my first ever car's system and I know that Mark's £30k system absolutely obliterated my Focus' system. Can you play Spotify through it? This was my biggest hang up because the bell ends in Halfords couldn't answer that question and I couldn't find it myself. Lovely! I just think that this debate is bloody pointless. You mod cars because you can. Like if I had a £50k motor I'd mod that, like if I had a £100k motor I'd mod thay, I have a £6k motor and I'm modding that (well ok it'll be worth 6k when everything works properly on it!) The fact of the matter is that there is nowt more satisfying than having a car that is nice enough to turn heads but still turns the stomachs of arseholes in brand new expensive cars when they realise they're not the fastest man on the road. Ha! Cheers mate! It'll look miles better once I've finished with it. I've only really had just over 2 weeks with it so it's early doors yet but I would say within the next 6 months I'll have her eating out of my hand fully. She's my rescue dog see! Couple of crappy owners not willing to spend the time and effort on her has left he feeling neglected and a little damaged. But on a whole just buzzing to be back in amongst the scene after almost 3 years of driving a sensible car with a warranty. Alreet! With regards to your quest for a test drive, I'm in Sunderland like and you can have a go but bear in mind that my cats are blowing so it will be hellishly louder than what you will buy. But it will give you an idea of what it is like to drive, just don't be put off by the slight shabbiness of my pride and joy as it is a work in progress, she's kind of like a rescue dog! So I gets up to Aberdeen and I'm thinking. ...this car is starting to sound unbearably loud again. I go to the jet wash after I finish the last course of the day and decide to do a little pitch inspection. One of the cats is pretty much in pieces. Alreet! Just got to Aberdeen this morning and the headlight washers are half out and won't go back in. I haven't used them at all so have no idea why they are sticking out.....but they are. Any ideas? Do it nice or do it twice!
