  1. I didn't realise this uprev map was intellectual property of Abbey, I assumed it was a Nissan map, of course I will talk to Mark first. Maybe I can just send him my ECU?? Cheers.

Mark writes the map for the car, dials it in on the dyno for the cars parameters so you don't have any issues, so

    1) It's his intellectual property yes

    2) I'd be suprised if he would map the ECU without the car. I'm pretty sure he would fly out to you to map the car in Greece though. Expensive option, but cheaper than shipping the car to him I'd imagine.

  2. When I got my truck, it had some exposed metal on the rear of the cab. I sanded all the rust off it, chucked some primer on it, waited a bit and then chucked some bright blue over that. 10 months later, I sanded back the paint, repaired the metal, filled etc it and then primered it all. I left it to dry and came back to something that looked like this:

It took me half a day of sanding, primering, sanding, primering etc to get rid of all the reactants in the paints as all the sanding was bringing up more of the reactants

Always use products which are designed to go together, otherwise you'll be cursing for a long time

  3. I used www.paints4u.com for some paint, I'd highly recommend them. They even mixed some paint and put it into aerosol for me so I could test it for a colour match without buying the whole lot first. Super helpful over the phone too, they helped me find a code for a 1968 chevy paint colour they only made for the year out of one factory in California!

  4. Literally didn't read your post. Just go back and read one of your old posts on the EXACT SAME SUBJECT if you want to see everyone saying "no your z is gorgeous, keep it" "No your car is so amazing". If you're having to ask a forum of Z lovers if you should keep yours so frequently, clearly you already know the answer. It's like that guy who posted up asking if he should break up with his missus, if you're having to ask a bunch of randoms on the internet, you already know the answer.

Sell it and move on, just copy and paste one of the old for sale posts you did.

  5. make sure these have been removed:

I have seen a Z with coilovers and those still in, it's like a 2" piece of rubber which sometimes gets stuck, it will be on top of the spring if it's still there. It's not supposed to be with coilovers, only with normal suspension. Whip it out :)

  6. This stuff is quick and amazing, you just have to do a lot of masking first:

Aye, is really good stuff that, looks good too.

I had a can of it explode in my face when I was a 19yr old apprentice. I removed the air hose from the can without depressurising it, I was completely black faced.

Service manager almost died of laughter.

similar to when people have "incidents" with the oil drainers

  7. pardon?

if you mean the garage has asked if they can replace your engine oil with used oil, then no. why on earth would you put old oil in it? how would fresh old oil be any different from the old oil that's currently in it?

    I'm well confused.

He said old oil vs waxoil, so not running the car on it

My truck had an oil leak in the old engine, which coated the underside in oil very nicely and I can DEFINITELY see where was covered vs where wasn't. It does do the job, but I'd say waxoil would last longer and be kinder to the environment.

  8. Oh crap, that didn't even cross my mind. Well I'll clean them up and sell them on and put the cash to some Rays.

They'll fit on the rears, the fronts will have no wear on them unless you're an absolute boss and are dragging them at massive speed. Leave the road wheels on the fronts and use the 17's as the rears.

  9. Aliveboy lives in the ghetto shocker :p:lol:

Unfortunately the "area" for my post code is massive, it includes some of Woking town centre, 4 villages, 2 of which have massive council estates in :( On my actual road there's very little at all reported for Jan-Aug. Surrey isn't all leafy and posh, they've let some riff raff in recently, I guess around 27 years ago ;)

  10. so I'd forgotten about this thread

I've moved out of my little garage, primarily as my truck project was too long for it and was too wide for the door too  I now have a 1/3 share in a 1200sqft shed, which has power and a roof! We're looking for another one too, as with all of these things we have too much stuff now!

We can get two vehicles across with plenty of room in the middle, we can have three cars lined on each side, so six in total, although generally we have 4 with work space at the front. There's a mezzanine up top for storage, racking at the back and to one side and then there's two work benches, one at the front and one at the back.

The orange tiny tool chest is long gone as it stored basically nothing  There's plenty of wall space for car stuff too :D

Downsides are there's no water inside so it's a bit of a walk, and there's not three phase power either which is a bummer. Otherwise it's perfect
