  1. Having just been in the market for a car, i can safely say, i had no interest in anything else but a Zed. My budget was flexible and there is a plethora of cars out there for not a lot of money these days. I guess if you perhaps had and done the whole Zed thing and you want a change i can understand.

Its funny how many people aspire or want to own a Porsche, coming from chats from previous forums also on the what would you change your "car" for topics. I think they are foul things, i am not doubting their performance merits after having driven varying friends cars, but the typical owner (to me) seems more concerned with having a car with the Stuttgart badge and nothing else.

I do hanker for a TVR at some point and probably a Tamora or T350/Sagaris if my budget would stretch.

  2. throw a V8 in the Z.... i have been sorely tempted!!!!!!!!

you buy a new car for 20k and in a year or twos time you have lost another 5k in depreciation.... spend that 5k or so on a V8 and fitting kit ;)

And don't think I've not looked at it....The is a firm in Brum that do LS V8 conversions, they've done them in TVRs, BMWs and RX7's...I can't for the life of me think what they are called, it will come to me...might be dyno tourque or something like that.

When i looked at it you were looking at 10k for an LS2 drive in and out.

Let me know tye name when it comes to you. From what ive read it's a tricky job due to most LS V8's being lhd setup

    This is them...

The main chap the Craig is very well repected and so far I've not heard anying negative.

Craig is very well respected in the Rx7 community, there was a video on one of the rx7 forums recently with his V8 twin turbo rx7 build on the dyno, 1000bhp or so :)

  3. If track results are no longer a valid benchmark for sport cars then what it is?

Was going to ask the same question myself but decided i would be ..... into the wind and as Crumb says, its his opinion, which everyone is entitled to. :)

How do people compare cars on here then or form an opinion on its peformance merits:

    0-60

    0-100

    50-70

    70-90

    1/4 mile

    top speed etc

Personally i see track times as very very apparent or you would not have manufacturers so keen to get their new cars posting ring times (James Mays big gripe), but i guess its track abilities are important to me. Just as looks, fuel consumption, insurance, repair bills etc will be important to others.

  4. Just realised these tyre profiles arent ideal on 18's for the Zeds so if you want without tyres, not a problem and price can be adjusted accordingly :)

And some inspiration from the "favourite wheels on a zed thread"

    inspiration_zps4074037a.jpg

  5. Just been through the "best wheel thread" and loads of love for Volks but none for these

Also spoke to a couple of chums today, one a sprayer and one a powdercoater who both said centres could be colour changed for £200 so prepared to take that off the price :)

    £1150

  6. I had a exhaust on my Rx7 from TopGear Stockport, its quality was 2nd to none. I do believe though the HKS reps are just bought in and not made in house, so i wonder if they are just Japspeed ones. The after sales though was also superb when i dealt with them and would expect they would rectify any concerns.

  7. What exactly is the problem here though, the tyre fitment doesnt look overly dodgy to me, if you think that looks "swollen" then you need a smaller tyre profile, not a bigger one ........

+1, they dont look stretched to me but the profile looks to big. I would up the size and lower the profile as you had before.

  8. I thought this was 350z uk, not, lets put down our 350zuk.

Of course a lap time says very little of how a car drives, but it does give you a very good idea of how a car handles/performance and there is no way a zed would post such lap times if it handled badly and was lazy in its power delivery.

This and only this, is the point i am trying to get across as it seemed there were negative comments towards its capabilities :)

  9. I didn't say it wasn't factual. I said the data wasn't comparable.

Different drivers, different days, different weather, different setups, etc.

Top Gear track also, exactly the same time, most likely the same driver or if not ones of equal abilities, even then and taking into ambient temperature it would only make perhaps for a few 10ths.

So what your also saying is, on a different day with better weather, better driver and set up the 350z could beat that time :stir:

Swings both ways being pedantic

Those times will be the best on record, there is no way BMW would settle for having a bad time on their benchmark performance saloon car, the M3.

Incidentally if it helps you, those two times were set by the same driver Horst von Suarma.

The 350z is a damn quick car with obvious impressive handling to even come close to the M3.

  10. saw these on Driftworks and was tempted hows the fitment on the Z any side on pictures ie do they tuck or poke?

Side picture here, the car is lowered and not had my camber control arms fitted so running loads of negative camber which is pushing the top in, just so you know.

The rears fit but a personal preference would be for a 10-15mm spacer to bring flush with the arch (without rolling) and the fronts would require a 20mm or so to clear the caliper and fit flush with the arch, will take a side on photo as is.

  12. Would it be vulgar to ask what Wheel Genie charge for such a job?

    About £500, depending on finish

Not too bad considering for brand new looking wheels :)

Indeed, considering I paid £3K for the wheels alone new :scare:

Personally i dont think you can beat a high quality set of alloys imho :) Very passionate about wheels and having a good quality set of proper alloys stands your car out from the crowd :)

  13. WOW, very PINK!

    GLWTS!!

    Hahah, they sure are.

Just to add, i do have all for original centre caps that you see with the rears and if any body wants to try them on their car to get a true impression your more than welcome to swing by, i am in Bournemouth.

  14. Recently refurbished with polished lip and custom pink centres (not to everyones tastes i know but i am comfortable with my sexuality ;) ) One small knick where the socket sprung off, grrrr, last photo of rear by the lowest wheel nut!

Its very difficult to photo them accurately to get a true judge of the colour. They are darker in real life with a light dusting of blue candy, when the sun shines they look stunning and think they would look awesome on a Silverstone Grey/Blade Silver or White 350z. The pictures of the fronts is the best representation of the colour. I have also only lent the front against the car for a idea of overall look, as will not go on without a spacer.

These are a true 3 piece split so you can adapt with bigger dish etc

18 x 10 rears et35, with as new Federal Rsrs 255/35's They fit without spacers but would look better with them.

18 x 9 fronts et37 with Toyo Proxes 235/40's with about 3mm of tread. You will def need spacers.

I am just about to strip the fronts down for repolish as they were sat on my Rx7 uncared for. The rears are perfect, and the lips are properly protected with 2 coats of poor bouys wheel sealant and then two coats of Jetseal109. A regular clean is all they need to keep them gleaming.

If you want as is £1100, with fronts re polished and protected £1200.

  15. There doesnt seem to be a lot of positive comments about the Zeds handling.

I must admit i was a little concerned about its apparent weight with what i was used to and then something swung it for me, an early 350z is only 4 seconds a lap slower round the Nurburgring than a e46 M3, which is the benchmark car for saloons/coupes.

Awesome if you ask me ;)
