  1. My nearly 12yo Zed recently made a 500 mile round trip from Manchester to Devon - average mpg 38.7

Other than that, still usually reading 24 mpg for urban driving.

Only ever had two tank-fulls which were not Shell V-Power/Nitro

  2. If its rusty then usually they give you an advisory.

Just this. That was my experience.

I was told that as it is not part of the suspension mechanism it is not an MOT fail.

Its just there to provide more stability and I was advised to replace it.

The Zed still passed the MOT.

  3. My Eleven-year-old Zed (04 plate) is showing rust above the rear wheel arch just below the filler cap.

Its been treated once about 18 months ago but seems to be coming back.

I'm going to ask my (trusted) Nissan dealer what my options are for treating it - but would be interested in any opinions from forum members.

As I understand it, that panel is part of the chassis and cannot easily be replaced (this advice from a pertol-head friend of mine - I obviously know nothing  )

    Thanks,

    TT

  4. Noticed that a black Zed 07 plate has been parked up on a public street (main road with parking spaces) near me in Cheshire for over a week now.

Doesn't seem to have moved in that time and is getting covered in leaves, tree sap etc.

Could be something or could be nothing.

Will provide more details if required.

    TT.

  5. Best car you've owned Pete?

Tough one. If you exclude my current Zed then I guess the black Capri 2.8i I owned in the 80's, I kept that for almost 3 years.

    Pete

Funny you should say the Capri, ive always aspired to own one, one day! Love the style of them and the body shape is one of the best in my opinion.

If Bodie & Doyle were around today - I think the Zed would be the pool car of choice for CI5

  6. I don't think that it is as black and white to distinguish that Nissan main dealer=bad, independent dealer=good - its about who you trust to do the work on your Zed.

For me, I am using a Nissan main dealer who I trust.

When my Zed is in with them, I can look under the Zed when they've found something wrong and are happy to talk through options regarding repairs etc. when I question them about it. (And thanks to this forum I can ask some relevant questions!)

So don't disregard Main Dealers - there are some good guys out there.

  7. Don`t do it mate

    Agreed.

After owing 2 MR2's with Targa tops I vowed never to own a car with a sun roof again - just not worth it in this country with this climate as I never used them.

    Just me though :)
