Not to my taste - I prefer the understated Zed to the 'look-at-me' spoliers etc. But enjoy
Can I ask - One of the great things I've enjoyed about owning a Zed is this forum - does yours have something similar?

Had a scrape last year which caused minor damage similar to that.
Pulled over and was stationary (leaving my back end out slightly) to let a learner drive get past in a country lane, - he scraped his car all along the trailing edge of my driver's side my rear wheel arch on the way past. Didn't bother stopping after making first contact - just powered on through
Exchanged details and went through my insurer - wish I had swallowed the cost of repair my self now.
Third party gave a false account of the incident - said I came around a corner and clipped him. Provided only vague details to his insurance company along with grainy b/w photos of damage (I asked to be provided with their eveidence). My insurer said as there were no witnesses or dash cam footage then it was my word against theirs (fair enough).
Not interested when I pointed out the only damage to my car was to the trailing edge of the drivers wheel arch. How could it possibly cause damage to three areas of the side of the 3rd party's vehicle if my car was in motion. It would break physics. Ended up having to pay full excess for what was essentially a paint job on the wheel arch - there was no impact damage only scrape damage (actual cost charged was over 1k!)
Anyway, like for like replacement cars where offered, a top end BMW or Merc. Both automatic and neither of which I felt comfortable driving so I declined them both - so no more like-for-like insurance for me.
That was 10 months ago and last week I received a letter from my insurer that they had just received the damage report from the 3rd party's insurance and that a 50/50 liability was the outcome. Premium is up - obviously - but NCB is fine.
So next time I'll only use the insurance when there is some major problem and not just a paint job.
Oh - and a dash cam.
You just don't know what kind of person you're going to run into - or pull over for.

My response is - "Its a brute"

I think my battery in my key fob is on its way out, is it a simple task of buying a battery and changing it over or does it have to be reprogrammed. If i change it over can it cause problems, i have a JDM 2 button key fob
Its a simple task of just changing the battery.
I bought a pair of batteries a few months ago - you're welcome to the spare if you want it - PM me and I'll post it to you.

just over tightened my oil fill cap and now it clicks past and goes slack again .
I experienced this - its not broken, it just has too much oil on the threads. Just tighten to a torque less than 'clicks past and goes slack again' and it will be fine.
But keep an eye on it

been here, done that - share your pain - my exp (non Z) cost me £1200+
id pay up and take the pain - with noone to claim from its difficult - youll pay out one way or another
shop around and get cheapest quote imo
I'd go with this advice - except I wouldn't get the cheapest quote but a quote from a shop that you trust.
All you will get with claiming through insurance for (relatively) minor damage like this is a lot of paper work and a guaranteed increase in premium

Um, why not magnetic he asks naively?
Just been given 10 litres, I know it's a little thin but was going to use for between service to up. I rarely need to do this anyway.

It feels so special and is so satisfying. What a car. I love it.
That feeling doesn't wear off - not even after 12 years

I'm on 115k on my original clutch after buying from new 12 years ago if that is any help
There are others with higher mileage than this
-
On a related note - when does it become a "classic" car?
If by classic you mean Tax free then it's 40 years.
Pete
Was thinking more about when you could show it at a "Classic Car" show e.g. Tatton classic car show (near me)
http://events.tatton...006816000000000
Perhaps one day I could be parked next to Bodie's Capri

I know, I know, you're all absolutely correct!
PS I've chosen my targets wisely; I may be pathetic but I'm not stupid.
To the contrary, I think that you are both stupid and pathetic:
Now that did make me laugh

Owned from new since 2004
-
116k from new - original clutch and so far (apart from the usual knowns such as W-Frame or window motors) so good.
Serviced regularly and the oil level is inspected regulalry
-
It's awesome getting nice comments from strangers . The Z is a stunning car.
Agreed. Its an understated brute which still gets compliments 12 or so years after first being unleashed
-
My Zed is now 12 years old and has always been used as a daily commute.
Max commute has been 50 per day - currently its 3 miles per day.
As other have said - just keep it serviced regularly and keep an eye on the oil level
-
I like the Zed because its understated... so

Well known issue - both of mine failed before 100K.
Either new motors (as I did) or refurb the existing ones - someone will surely be along to show you how to re-furb the existing ones
