  1. Keep at it, it's tricky to get right. It took me 3 attempts the other day.

I had the same problem as you the first couple of times.

    The timing is crucial.

  2. lol, to be honest i don't think ive ever read anyone saying it was a 5 minute a side job.

imagine my face last month when i had my MOT and thought i'd best check my bulbs etc the evening before (it was dark already by this time) and discovered one of my bulbs blown.

my MOT was 08:30 the following morning, so i was outside at 07:00 taking the wheel and wheel arch liner off.

still i'm sure there are worse jobs.

  3. Thought I'd add to this thread, my gunmetal panel arrived today. So on it went....

Very nice bit of kit, just need to clean and add a few more bits to my engine bay now. Oh and replace the clips I broke when fitting the panel, oops.

    Thanks Chris!

  4. I've not heard any horror stories tbh. Someone on another forum I used to use recently bought one cheap with over 100k on the clock and is happy with it.

One of my mates had an early one from new and a facelift before trading to an RS but tbh he only had them for a few thousand miles so not really enough time to develop faults.

I'd consider a 5 door when I need more space.

And they are Fords so parts and labour are cheap, cheap, cheap.

  5. from previous threads on here that i've read i'm sorry to say i think you'll be spending closer to £600 for parts if your replacing clutch and flywheel and depending on the garage £200 ish for labour.

fingers crossed for your warranty claim.

    Jon
