To keep my handbrake working properly I use it to stop the car if I'm rolling slowly up to traffic lights etc. This seems to remove corrosion and crud from the drum.

you're better off doing it at 50-60mph round corners - you attract women then too

There is definitely a post on here that says it is a 5-10minute easy job- I remember cursing whoever posted that when I went to change mine too
