  1. Regarding using the camera, my advice would be to drop auto mode, and learn how to use the P,A & S modes. You may have to google the basics, but they arent that hard. Pick one (A is a good one to start with) and experiment. Play around at home taking nonsense pictures just to get an idea of how the settings affect the picture. Remember there are only 3 main settings - aperture, sensitivity (ISO), and shutter speed. Understanding these three and how they alter the picture is crucial. (a clue, in A mode you get to choose the aperture setting and the camera works out the other 2 for you). Above all, use google, there is so much info and tutorials out there. HTH..
  2. For Nikon, I can recommend the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5... I used it a lot this time last year at Angkor.. It's probably what I'd recommend for a new photog. You can just use this, no need for lighting, tripods, and other stuff. Just get out there and look at things. The other thing I'd recommend for any Nikon shooter, get the 50mm f/1.8 lens - it's nikons cheapest, but is a great lens - i think you can pick them up for about 150? 3. The exif data on the olympics photo says it's a canon 10-24mm.
  4. If you like doing macro then try stuff like this: Halloween Fly by Joe Heath Even creepier when in stereo (cross your eyes until the images overlap) Halloween Fly by Joe Heath try browsing here: http://www.photomacrography.net .. there's a lot to learn from/aspire to.. It's easier than it seems once you get into it...
  5. This happened to me (about 10 years ago). The agent told me they would come at any time in the last 2 months without telling me.. I politely informed the agency that they did not have permission to enter the property without my agreement. I then told them that since this was my legal right, and that I was sure they were legally responsible, that I would have to assume anyone entering the property unannounced was a burglar. I then said that in that situation I would be in fear of my safety, and my girlfriend's, and use reasonable force to remove the cause of that fear as quickly as possible. They never tested that...
  6. Black, or Quartz (as in the advert)

  9. Cheeky Vimto anyone? It was a WKD vodka, with special K cider ... i think... [edit] tasted just like Vimto ... but lethal...
  10. In our village (20 years ago) the 18th birthday drink used to be named "snot". 1 pint glass, shot from everything on the top row. Extra blue bols. top up with cider. goes cloudy green. tastes mostly of peppermint and hangover guaranteed...
  11. I just got back from 4 years in Malaysia. The 370z came out while I was there - i used to drool over it every weekend as they displayed one in the local shopping mall. The price: 377,000 RM = 77,000 GBP! Massive tax on cars that are imported, then even big tax on cars that are "locally assembled". The only cheap ones are the true locally made. Protons. And they are s****. 12 year car loans had just been introduced when i got there!
  12. Bombay Sapphire with Indian Tonic Water. Slice of lime. Couple of ice cubes. Repeat until lathered...
  13. Another vote for Bombay Sapphire... but also home made Mojito's, made with chocolate mint from the garden - it's the cat **** that gives it the edge.. On a more beer type night then Fursty Ferret is my prefered ale.. Of course, anything is better than nothing,
  14. Thanks for all the info. Re Bonnet: I thought the pedestrian system might interfere.. so i guess this has to stay for now. Re Spacers: Sounds easy then. 25mm it is. Re Exhaust: anyone got an invidia or stillen and within 50 miles or so of Bristol? I'd love to come over and have a listen. Might attempt myself or more likely just pay someone local 50 quid to fit.. Re HFCs: probably leave for now but budget in later Re Air intake: Been looking at cosworth filters, but also like the look of the stillen under the bonnet bling cheers joe
  15. I think i can manage that .. I was worried as I though i saw discussion of removing the brake callipers (which i last did on an old Polo some 15 years ago)..
  16. Did a calculation this week: For 24k miles a year. Toyota Prius (with realistic mpg, rather than publicised), works out at 11k GBP for me over 3 years Plus I end up with a 370z with about 15k miles, for weekends. The 370z (fuel, servicing, tyres, depreciation for the mileage, extra insurance etc) works out at 15.5k over 3 years And I end up with a 370z thats done 87k miles.. So financially, the Prius seems the way to go. However it means I have to drive a Prius. My wife has suggested another option : she drives the 370 to work (5 miles) and I use her alfa guilietta instead. You can imagine my reply Anyone keep a 370 just for weekends?
  17. My 370 GT Edition is currently stock.. however I'm starting to put a plan together of what I might do to it over the next year. I would any opinions or advice as this is my first car I've done much too apart from a remap. Here's the current planned mods Bonnet: I think I saw some hydraulic bonnet supports that could replace the basic one i have right now - or was that just the 350, as I cant seem to find it again? Intake: Looks like Stillen Gen3 or K&N Typoon. For the Stillen the bumper has to come off - how difficult is this really? For the K&N the washer bottle needs relocating, and therefore also seems to need the bumper off as well. I've also looked at the JWT Pop Charger - anyone have them in stock, or experience on the 370? Spacers: 23mm seems to be the consensus so far. I cant quite grasp how easy they are to fit though.. Exhaust: Definitely need one, something that sounds pretty good, give a bit of a boost, but doesnt get annoying on long motorway journeys. Invidia and the Stillen sounds good to me right now. HFCs: Not sure if I should invest in these? What do they add? Uprev: Once the above is done, then apply this... Abbey seems the place to be for this.. Anything else I should consider? I have thought about lowering it, but I have enough problems where I live at the moment, so will leave that. So some questions: What can be done at home, by me, with limited mechanical experience? I'm happy buying tools, learning, etc .. but equally dont want to bite off more than I can chew and screw up my motor. The bonnet looks easy, as does a JTW Pop Charger, I start to worry about bumper removal, and then even more about the exhaust. Worth learning and taking it slowly or just pay for fitting? Additionally - does it make any difference if these mods are done one by one over a year or two, or would it be better in one big go so that the remap looks after the engine after the mods? One by one slowly is preferable to me cos I'd like to do as much as possible.. Finally any recommendations for places Bristol way that are good for this lot? Both to talk to, and get some of the work done.. Thanks joe PS let me add myself, before anyone else does.
  18. Looking a bit dusty, but otherwise good..
  19. Heading west, about 15 miles before Bristol. You passed by with a Z4 up the a*** Thats the first 370 I've seen on the roads since getting the car
  20. Hi all, I just got a new job and with it comes a company car (BMW 520 or equivalent). The job will mean a daily round trip of 100 miles. So I'm wondering what to do about cars... given I just got my 370 a couple of months ago. I just thought I'd bounce the ideas around here to see if there are any I've missed... The options as I see it: 1. Take the cash, use it for fuel money on the 370z, and put 24k miles a year on it. 2. Take a BMW or similar, pay 15% BIK, pay for fuel, but keep the 370 for weekends 3. Take a hybrid, pay lower BIK, pay low fuel costs, keep the 370 for weekends 4. Sell the 370!!!! Take a company car... (not happening) Any ideas? I'm leaning to #1 at the moment... Joe
  21. Parked next to and had a quick chat. I had the white 370..

Now I am confused : I don't have locking any lock wheel nuts And I *thought* to use the re-inflation kits, you have jack the car up and rotate the wheel? Haven't checked the manual on that though... Why a wrench then? seems pointless if no jack.
