  1. You've answered your own question there. Well not really, because there are a lot of rims out there that look better imo. That's why it makes the fact that so many people have gone for ROTAs so strange. Yes really. You said 'it's strange that so many people buy Rota's' and followed it up with 'they do suit the car though'. Which is why so many people have bought them. I'm still going with Not Really on this mate. They suit the car...yes. But so do many other rims....and what surprises me, is that out of all of the options that Zed owners have to choose from, so many have gone for the same wheel. If there was only 1 set of rims that suited the Zed and that happened to be the ROTAs, then you'd have a point, but from a statistical basis, the odds of so many different people all coming to the same conclusion from such a vast array of options, is as I said originally, "a bit strange".
  2. I think you've highlighted enough to suggest that this probably isn't a coincidence. Obviously health is the most important thing, but I'd be trying all sorts of seat cover back massages among other things before getting rid of the Zed! Hope u find a solution mate.

  4. Fair enough, but for so many people to buy the same rims is a bit strange! They suit the car though, so that always helps!
  5. Unnecessary. V8...drift car...bla bla bla. Why has he tried to merge the looks of a 350 and a 370? He must be filthy rich and bored...in which case maybe he's earned the luxury of doing whatever takes his fancy! I thin I would've found better ways to spend my money and time though.
  6. I really don't understand tha fascination with ROTA's! I've asked this in the past and I have got 2 answers: 1 - They look good ont he car 2 - RareRims is a trader on the forum and sells ROTAs. But I just don't understand why people are so fascinated by ROTAs on a Zed. They look good, but imho, there's wheels out there that look a lot better on a Zed. Also, what about individuality? Surely it's more than coincidence that people happen to like the same rims? I just don't understand this loyalty to ROTAs....am I missing something here?
  7. If any car companies are reading this...clearly they should be offering a crap slow car as an optional extra with a fun quick car! I'm going to go and invest in Daihatsu shares.
  8. The debate about whether a car is fast or not makes me laugh. That isn't opinion...it's a measured statistic. 0-60mph in 5.8 seconds. If you 'think' that's fast or not is an opinion....but that comes down to so many personal and subjective factors. - What you're used to driving - Your preconceived ideas about how a car 'should' perform - The price - The looks - etc... I think it's fine to say whether you regard a sub 6 second car as fast or not. This obviously changes with the times too....seeing as now there's cars out there that hit 60 in 2.5 seconds. I personally think the Zed is fairly fast....but I would agree that it doesn't 'feel' fast, but I think that's due to quite good and steady power delivery throughout the rev range. I used to drive a 1.8 140bhp Celica that would feel a hell of a lot faster when I'd shift down into second to get up to the lively part of the rev range. I think that Welshbeef bloke could just do with a bit of awareness of how the things he's gonna say are going to come across. The dumbest thing I read on that though was about ppl looking at us and thinking "couldn't afford a GTR". I went out today and every single motorist I saw... I thought... Couldn't afford a Bugatti / Rolls Royce / Pagani etc. I'd say 99.9999% of drivers worldwide don't have the car that they would love due to financial restrictions. That was literally the most poorly thought out argument I have ever heard!
  9. I think we're missing the point here lads. Parsnip just coined a new word! BELLENDERY! Genius! This is now going to be part of my daily vocabulary. Wonder how it'll go down at work!?
  10. This makes a massive different to the look of the car in my opinion. It's one of the first things I did to mine... viewtopic.php?f=9&t=58710 I'm now looking to get a few other parts of the car carbon wrapped....all small parts, nothing major. One of them is the spoiler...but I've heard it's a right b***h to get off, which is stopping me from getting a non specialist Nissan garage to do it.
  11. GLWS! I'm sure one of these in white will attract a few buyers.
  12. Aerial Do something about them horrible Orange reflectors Tints Tax Disc Holder Dust Caps That's the 5 I've done so far! Next... Carbon wrap a few small areas of the car Interior Lighting 20" Rims Reversing Sensors iPod Connection
  13. OK, I'm finally starting to make some sense of this. I'm going to work with these combinations of tyres if I get 20" rims: Front - 225/35/20 Rear - 245/35/20 These tyres will both fit 20" rims with a width of between 8" - 9" Front - 235/35/20 Rear - 255/35/20 These tyres will both fit 20" rims with a width of between 8.5" - 9.5" Front - 245/30/20 Rear - 275/30/20 These tyres will both fit 20" rims with a width of between 9" - 9.5" Unless I'm still not getting it, this all makes sense to me as realistic options that will fit the tyre, keep the staggered set up and minimise any speedo and diameter impact! This....proved very useful! http://www.alloywheels.com/Tyre_Calculator
  14. Man...this is so confusing! Firstly, what the hell is an offset!? (In very very simple terms please!) There's so many things to think about here! The reason I mentioned 285 / 30 / 20 at the rear with 255 / 35 / 20 at the front is because it minimises the impact on the speedo and minimises the difference in diameter. But it seems like to get them tyres, I'm going to need 10" wide rims...so am I better off selecting the alloys that I want and then trying to put tyres on after that to minimise any difference in diameter and incorrect speedo? How important is it that diameter is kept the same?
  15. Ric...love them and I think 20's look brilliant on it. I would want black and silver rims though, so am looking at something like this.... http://www.alloywheelworld.co.uk/produc ... k-polished I haven't decided on what I want yet, so will keep searching. What tyres did you go for and how much did they set you back if you don't mind me asking? Also, the only other thing I don't get, is that tyre width comes in like 225mm/235mm/245mm etc....but when you're getting alloys, the width is just 7.5"/8/9 etc. So how are you meant to know what tyres will fit what rims based on widths?
  16. Cheers Gudzy, Using the 2 tools I copied in to my OP, I think it minimises any impact if I go 285 / 30 / 20 at the rear with 255 / 35 / 20 at the front. Having a different profile shouldn't be an issue I'm guessing? Also...if they look too big, then they look good! That's the way I see it anyway. I was just concerned that 20" might not fit without something needing to be done to whell arches or something.

    20 Inch Rims

Hi Guys, Was hoping for some advice on the issue that is tyre sizes. I've read a lot of info through the search function, but if you just don't get it...you just don't get it. Basically, I want to put 20 inch wheels on the Zed...but need to know exactly what I should be going for in terms of width and profile etc. The 2 tools I'm using to try and figure this out are: http://www.tiresizecalculator.info/ http://www.alloywheelworld.co.uk/page.php/tyrecalc So what I need to know is any issues that would arise specifically with 20" wheels? I have read a lot about 19's but not 20's. Also, if I was to go for some 20's, then what tyres would minimise the difference in 'rolling radius'? I'm thinking of 255/35/20 In that tyre size....I'd have the following options : VREDESTEIN's - £190 http://www.camskill.co.uk/m63b0s340p124 ... 97Y_XL_TL_ or FALKEN's - £176 http://www.camskill.co.uk/m63b0s340p991 ... 97Y_XL_TL_ I'm obviously going for same width on the rears and fronts...what is the benefit or need to increase the width on the rears? Does it actually make much difference? Thanks for all your help in advance
  18. I recently purchased one...and from your description, I was thinking £9k if its silver going to around £10k (at a push) if it is blue or black.
  19. Ummm...can we swap? I think I've spent about £400 in petrol already!
  20. My (non technical) advice would be that if you are having doubts...then don't buy it, as you'll kick yourself if anything happens later on down the line and you think "I knew there was something fishy..." I'd rather pay a little bit extra and have that complete peace of mind....so how important is that to you?
  21. Removing the rear spoiler...sounds like it's a horrible job. Is it really that bad?
  22. Has anyone got a guide on how to remove the spoiler? I'm hoping to remove it and have it carbon wrapped before it being put on again. Any advice would be appreciated.
  23. Seeing as I live in Norwich and that there are no connecting motorways to this place, I've had a good balance of motorway/dual carriage way to fun roads. I was very pleasantly surprised at how comfortable I was in long 3 hour journeys in the Zed. That drivers seat is a comfortable place to be. They've done well with the interior. I was happy to get a very low mileage Zed so that I wasn't concerned with putting more mileage on it....and 120 miles a day reflects that...especially seeing as I walk to work! I'm haven't got any long journeys planned for about 10 days now though, so I think my average might start coming down.
