  1. Thanks guys for this warm welcome! ;)

To Mega: I don't know which Ben I am, but my name's definitely Ben

I'm also a member of the MR2 imoc.uk forum, under the sweet name of "Ninja" (I own an MR2 turbo that I'm trying to sell at the moment in order to get money for the Z).

I'm probably gonna harrass you guys with newbies' questions about the 350Z in the next few days, but I already know you're gonna help me out :)

    See ya,

    Ben

PS: I'm french, so don't expect me to speak a purrrfect English! Sorry in advance, if I make mistakes sometimes!

You seem to speak better English than alot of people around here! :D

It's just a coincidence then. There was a member on another forum I frequent, "EvoTechnik" who was from the midlands. Username exactly the same.. bennyboy.. so as it's quite a unique name I wondered if you were him but had migrated to france! I suppose it's not such a small world then! :)

Once again welcome to the site..

  2. I don't feel the car needs lowering so would ideally get similar height from spring/shock setup as before.. Rather than have to get the adjustable arms fitted.

Mark: I feel this might be another job to throw your way, perhaps at the same time as the previous work we've discussed. The wallet says that will be late next month at the mo though, assuming things last until then.

Alex: I might well take some bits and pieces off you. Will see how this thread develops and try to make some decisions :)

I don't know ANYTHING about suspension. I just know I need shocks and ARB drop links :) So I will try and ingest all the (very useful) information you chaps throw my way and then make a decision.

    Dave

  3. So my ARB drop links are worn and one of my shocks is leaking / badly tired out.

I was thinking about springs/shocks/bushes and ARB drop link replacement.

Or is there a coilover set I could go the route of instead (obviously I'd still do the ARB links)

I'm very new to how the susp is set up on a zed. But driving hard this weekend just gone it was painfully obvious that the susp needs resolving asap.

Can you recommend any setups? I am after improvement from bone stock but the primary concern is cost. If stock is the best £ for performance route I can go, I'll stick stock. But if for a small amount extra there's a good, tried tested setup I could run for: Let me have it :) :)

    cheers folks!

  4. Great guide...

One thing to add, I adjusted the clutch sensor for the cruise control, rather than adding on a spacer. And the bold for it is a 14mm, not 12mm.

Just so no-one else has to get in and out of the car as many times as I had to this morning :D

And to get to it you really need to take of the ECU to get to this 14mm bolt, which is three 10mm bolts.

Adjusted pretty easily, I have hardly ANY thread left on the bolt side now and the bite is STILL high up. So I think it may be time for a new clutch...!!!!

Well, the bite won't have changed. You've just lowered the pedal is all. Not adjusted the bite in any way.

If the clutch is not slippable you don't need to do it yet: Unless you want to due to the way the clutch feels. But, maybe get that rainy day fund going as it'll be about a £1200 job all in! :)

  5. Glad someone has now suggested camskill. They are ALWAYS cheaper for summer tyres and the service is fantastic, I've ordered at least 6 sets of tyres from them, I shop around every single time but they are always significantly cheaper.

  6. Hi all

Yes it seems the German system is reasonable and not just trying to screw you.

I just had the rental car delivered - I will be the captain of a BMW 740i for the next few weeks.

    That car is gigantic.

    That is superb.

In your situation with my current insurer in the UK (Admiral) I'd be getting a 1.1 nissan micra or similar.

  7. Without wanting to **** anyone off. Oversensitivity is an interesting thing.

The leader of a cult died. It often happens.

People have their right to respect him. I respect what he did as one of the greatest PR minds capitalism has ever seen.

But people also have the right to say "Seriously, he's not all that".

People still call Micheal Jackson a paedo since he died. Surely people can still say "Meh, I don't get Macs" now Jobs has gone.

The only possible argument can be that it's too soon. In which case state your views but no need to act like children about it. I personally don't like putting people up on pedestals, so as such don't see why today is any different to yesterday in terms of stating your opinion on the man.

Last of all. Did anyone on here know Steve personally? I doubt it. If you did then you have every right to take things more personally and I very much offer my sympathies for your loss. But assuming not: Why do you care? It's not like anyone's views one way or the other are going to impact Apple or Jobs' family?

Or is it all just because it's oh so easy to get super heated on an internet forum in a way you wouldn't in real life...

    :)

This is just my opinion, and without any specific pointed sightings at any particular individual.

    Dave

  8. am not being funny mate

but i seen a program on bbc 1 called rouge traders

recon engines are not worth it.

if you ring nissan and price the engine parts up

you will see the difference in the price and then it makes you think how can a company sell it for £2000.

if i was you i would buy a second hand one

save the hassle and agro involved with recons.

Well. You break cars. Can you not quote stu happy for an engine? 1000 supplied sounds like a good way to introduce yourself to the forum :) :)

  9. Im gonna have a go at the weekend.

My money says a pair of mole-grips will be the way to do it.

Will report back when I am done.

STILL want to know if it is "properly" adjust able though. AS this method seems to just move the position of the clutch itself, rather than the position of the bite on the clutch itself.

My bite is about an inch from the top of the clutch and frankly I know that means I've got a few months left in it at most. Just one of those things..

If there's a manual adjustment I can do it might eek some more life out though..
