  1. Oh I dunno, if a main dealer tells you something then it's probably reasonable to believe it. Terrible if they did, though.

Unless you've got it in writing...

Which I have-so next step, for an obviously stupid person who had no intention of buying a z in the first place-therefore was only going by looks and performance, seems like a lawsuit in the making! Now,how do I go about suing Nissan GB etal.

Despite the obvious smart arsed replies, thanks for the sensible ones.I'll let you know how I get on.

First stops will be the Dealer, then those very helpful people at DVLA,I obviously dont have what they are charging 460 quid a year for,[i'll quote what I've been told on here} so I really would like to know why the tax is as it is.

  2. Mine is one of the first 313 engined cars-only one filtre.

Wait, what? Are you saying you have a 309bhp car, but that the engine only has one air filter? If so, then I don't think you have a 309bhp car...

In that case,I had better ask for a Road Tax refund and get the V5 altered ;)

I can't work out if you're taking the pi** or not?! lol ALL 313 engines have two air intakes, two MAF Sensors and the oil dipstick located at the front centre of the block. Got a photo?

It's not unheard of for V5s to be incorrect.

OP just save up a few extra pennies and go for a 370z.

Yes, thanks, I was aware of this possibility  At the moment I'm still leaning towards the 313.

No **** take. The car was supplied by Glynn Hopkinson of Romford to its first owner, she was a Nissan employee, in 2007.I did question the 313 before buying the car, it was confirmed as a 313bhp model, the reason I bought it.

  3. Just done mine! Best to ease the panel off from the back first, nearest the door panel card. Everything is plastic clipped so use a little caution, slim flat blade scrapper or similar with card no the levering surface. Are you going to strip of the Soft Touch? It could react to some after market sprays, ended up stripping mine just to get back to the base material. Its the same colour as the Door Card trim.

  4. Hi,not sure if its possible BUT,had an RT in a Nissmo Duke a few weeks ago and one thing I really liked was the Sat Nav function of Speed Camera detection,[just as well as I was in a different area!] Is it possible to just insert the latter version of disc to get this function in my Factory Sat Nav please, has anyone done it?

  5. Actually,no its not the cheapest,I got the same figure quoted yesterday. Only thing is,as the car is very often abroad, couldn't take advantage of it as was told there is no European cover available! Got another quote from a recommended ,on here, broker, they wanted twice the £313 ,£per bhp! lol,I had been quoted by AXA. I need to keep shopping around I think.

  6. Done all of the fluid thing, not much difference+ I want it to pick up quicker than it does, also I am used to cars with racing/fast road clutches so shouldn't be too much of a problem. Cheers.

  7. So youre telling me your clutch is slipping because the standard flywheel is retaining heat produced by the engine, and a thinner flywheel will prevent it? You dont just think the clutch might be worn out ........... does it only happen when the engine is hot? This might be something Nissan thought of when designing the car, you never know ;)

C'mon man, if youre a race engineer then you know that's not the case, maybe on a finely tuned formula car it could be but this is an overweight, downtuned GT car we are talking about here, not once has anyone I know changed the mass of their flywheel to make a clutch stop slipping, thats ridiculous.

Oh, and BTW, thickness and mass have considerably less bearing on heat conduction and retention than material and environment but you know that as well I expect :)

Clutch slipping? Err,no,just the pedal dropping when the thing is hot. RBF/Braided hose has slightly improved it,but I want a more responsive engine as well, which is something I know will improve with a fly wheel thats half the weight. Cheers

  8. Sorry, thought you were talking 276, no spacer available for 313 as it already has one :)

However, you might want to revisit whoever told you underbonnet heat causes the clutch problems and that a lighter flywheel will fix it, thats a creative one to say the least

Its your money at the end of the day but in my experience uprated clutches tend to be heavier and grabbier, I dont see the point in spending cash on a part thats going to be less nice to use but gives you no dynamic improvement. :)

The under bonnet heat build up certainly doesn't help. A thicker/heavier mass will retain heat far longer than a thinner mass. Engine will spin up faster because of the weight reduction in reciprocating mass, these dynamics have been learnt over a period of years working with race engines/dynos. But I appreciate your points, thank you.
