  1. It's not the extra power that makes the difference, it's the extra revs. The HR is without doubt the better engine.

Btw, that's not a rev limiter, it's a shift light. You can set it to 4K if you want, the car won't stop you revving past that.

Yes sorry, meant to edit but then forgot. How often is it that all of 7k is used anyway?6.5 6.7 is the most Ill use really no point in taking it higher.Plenty of other ways to go quicker.;)

  2. Would recommend looking on ebay de or kleinanzeigenen.Usually a few sets on there at better prices than you will get in UK.

I bought a set end of last year.275euro including newish winter tyres!!!!

    Worth a look?

  3. I bought what I was told was the 313 (even states that on my sales invoice). After much ridicule from some on here, which I chose to ignor as I loved the car as soon as I started it for the first time.Far nice drive than the M3s I used in my job,so why have one as a road car?

However, mine was registered on 1 March 2007 to a woman who was Head of Nissan Finance. It has everything it should have-bose etc etc.

As for the extra 12 bhp,not worth the extra cash any way,I have my rev limiter set at six five and it does everthing I want it to.Much better pick up with the single mass FW,and Sport cats fitted though.

  4. I saw another Black HR,think it was on Dutch plates, did sound nice as well!

I was pretty busy, arranging rentals and Instructing,so wasn't exactly free.

Saturday TF is usually very busy,I much prefer teus/wed evening sessions, much less traffic;)

Who was in the other black car that found out how hard the armco is?No one here I hope.Looked to have front and rear suspension damage as well as heay panel damage.

  5. Fitted the K1 a couple of years ago.Time and winters had taken their toll on the original cats so decided to go for the sport cats along with the new y pipe from Japspeed. The y pipe/cats came out at 20 mm too short so adjusted the rear sectino hangers so as to get something of a fit so I could use the car,my daily.

Unfortuneatly Im sick and tired of the right hand cat rattling and the backbox doing the same.Shame because the sound and exterior welding(although some is an overweld touch up) are so nice. So,now looking for a non Japspeed replacement.Japspeed have offered to inspect the cats and check the measurement but as its my daily driver I cannot be with it for the length of time this "inspection"will take ,Ill buy something else.

  6. Main thing is that you obviously enjoy it and it is only open so the public can have FUN here.Far too many people take it much too seriously, they just have to prove they are the fastest drivers on earth. Many of those types are probably still paying for their efforts.

Drive it,drive home car still in one bit-job done.

  7. Mid eleven is roughly the average, nothing to be ashamed of.Sounds a like you are using your brakes a little too much though.Correct usage should quite easily see you lapping under ten with the amount of grunt (lots of time can be made up from Bergwerk all the way to Höhe Acht.)for example an RS Twingo will do under ten if you talk to it nicely.

  8. Seen a few Zs over the last couple of weeks but been too busy to say hi.

May first saw a Black Z with heavy armco imprint down the left side,if that was anyone on here I hope it all gets sorted.

Last weekend,Sat,there was a metalic blue car that had obviously suffered with some heatstroke and a bit of a dusting of baking powder.Again,if thats anyone on here----.

I own the Magic Black Z plate starting P1,

Car is more or less always around so come and say Hi.

  9. Hi both, yes it has been a long while, sorry for the absence.

Long story cut short.Tried to help a "friend"set up a new rental company here-all seemed legit but eventually walked away. The owner walked away with a fair chunk of my money.Something she now deeply regrets as the Police were waiting for her at Dover

However we have also moved house-redecorating etc etc all takes time.

However.I decided to set up on my own apart from still contracting to RSR and Ring Speed-he has two Zs anyway.I have been driving the Ring and Spa for quite a few years racing and Instructing. My main concern is getting clients around safely but as quickly as they are safe to do so or feel comfortable with.It generally takes a days training to get to remember the vital points around here.At this point you then start to learn the place.Spa is completely different, being the fastest F1 track it has a few secrets but in general takes around half a day to learn.

If anyone feels they dont quite get "the flow"of the Ring, then Im pretty certain I can help.

Sorry to hear about the owner running off with your money, well done for acting quickly to stop her leaving the country.

Sounds like you're very familiar with the circuits; if I ever venture over there, I'll remember this thread.

Thats nice to hear.Ill look out for your mail.

  10. Bump.Interesting reading through this thread. Before I left the uk I used to do a lot of Safetycar work for MSV at Brands.Often leaving Cambridge at 6 in the morning to arrive by 7.Sometimes just the Saturday others Sat and Sunday.

Everytime I would be approaching Harlow and there would be an Audi A2 being driven at 70 mph by a young black girl in the third lane with the other two being totally clear!! I lost count of how many times I would sit behind her for a short distance, right indicator on-made no difference whatsoever.I still wonder if she EVER got caught by the police or if she is still driving like a single celled being.

  11. You could also contact Paolo at ring-speed-motorsport.com for a Z experience.Again very good prices,an hours worth of instruction will cost €135 which I think compares favorably with any other Rental company.

Jumzo, first and formost, forget what you have seen on the monitor,it is nothing like the real thing ;)

Remember that the Ring is covered by German traffic laws and you should always drive on the Right-you as the driver are responsible for and actions the car takes whilst driving.KEEP checking those rear view mirrors as there WILL be much faster cars out there.Do NOT get yourself too wound up about it,a little adrenaline is good.Come here and ENJOY it,its why its here, for people like us to have fun.

  13. Hi,I am a private Instructor (ARDS registered) working here(5 years)on the Nordschleife,also Spa(over 2000 laps)

If anyone is contemplating a trip over but is unsure of taking a lap or two,I can probably help you understand this fantastic 21klm of tarmac.Warning:Driving it is very ADDICTIVE.

  14. I stayed in Hotel Haus Sonneck in 2012, which was very reasonable, about 5 miles from the Ring. You could try there -

200 mtrs from where I live. Very nice people own and run it.

  15. Hi all, reading through this thread and thought I would give my verdict on these discs.Cant test brakes in a more severe environment than where I work,The Nordschleife.

Fronts were with the Silver coating, cars used as a daily so that includes winter driving as well.Although Germany still use salt for the roads(difference being you dont get that awful slippery slime left on the road as you do in uk.

Brakes are still as clean as when new.I use the Dimpled and grooved version along with Brembo pads alround.Brake performance is BRILLIANT! Absolutely no need for race pads-or the like. With this set up the brake modulation/feedback from the pedal is excellent.Im using Motul rbf fluid, never had any fade issues (yes,I have been driving hard and fast enough ;) )Lap times are very pleasing to say the least.

So,for bang for buck,Ill not be going elsewhere for my brake needs !!!!

I must add that I am in no way affiliated to this very helpful and inovative Company.

  16. Having just bought a set of four new alloys that came fitted with Yokohama Advans,I was sceptical being a Dunlop fan.

However I have to admit to bing very pleasantly surprise by grip, lack of squeal

and braking distances are a bit shorter.Longevity?we'll have to wait and see.
