  1. Depends on the manufacturer , HFC's do , havnt seen any full on Decat pipes yet that do but thats beside the point , These and most normal decat pipes dont have the bracket. Im not sure if this would cause the flexi to wear like it has on the picture in such a short space of time though. I see what you mean about inside out ect I think it could be the strain on the flexi like Neil says rather than burning through from the inside. Its not hitting the ground since its towards the top of the flex so has nothing to hit.
  2. Will Nissan not sort this for you Free of charge as part of the TSB ?
  3. I wonder if the standards are stretched when fitting decats as well .. Didnt notice anything myself but you never know , Weird thing is the other side is like new Thats what i mean when i say about there being no support on these , I might see about getting a bar welded between these decat pipes in that case.
  4. What sort of postage prices are we looking at ?
  5. What do you mean fitted under stress ( sorry if im being a bit thick i havnt had a coffe yet ) The only thing giving me doubts about that is i cant think of anything else that would have caused it , The car has been in the family from new , done next to no miles and never had as much as an advisory on any M.O.T , Then I come along and fit decats and the flexi join goes a few weeks later .. Id be intrested to hear from others as well who have fitted decats , Has anyone not had a Y pipe go with decats on there , and on the flip side of that How many of you have had problems ?
  6. Would the same thing not happen from the Decats though ? yup or without sometimes too. Only way around it is to buy the stillen. I was tempted by the invidia dual system but thats got flexi's in too and cant be ran with the stillen Y :/ I wonder if Invidia's material for the flexi's would hold up ....?.... Im not 100% , But iv read several story's of nismo Y Pipes getting the same problem when fitted with Decats , Iv also read that it may be that because there is no support connecting hte 2 pipes as on the normal cats that it causes excess flex and can break the join. I dont know this of course it is just what i have read here and elsewhere so am hoping someone will be able to confirm so i can decide what to do , Like i said in the fumes thread decats are the only thing that has changed then this pops up... Im booked in to a garage tommorow afternoon to get it on a ramp and get a better look/patch it up for now so will see if they can spot anything else , Thanks for the help so far guys. Any more thoughts ???
  7. Did you roll the window down as i went past ? Was late for a hospital appointment and getting gassed out by a leaky Y pipe so was in a rush
  8. Would the same thing not happen from the Decats though ?
  9. Bit of a coincidence i find this at the same time fumes are pumeling inside the car though, i did wonder what difference the mesh made on the outside but if its manages to burn that away im sure it has no trouble going through the rubber. There are a lot of threads were people say the nismo Y pipe does the same thing when put together with Decats. At the moment my prefered option is to replace it with a standard Y pipe , but i cant do that if its going to happen again due to the decat pipes, And dont want to admit defeat and re-fit the Catalic Convertors !
  10. Thanks , Its at the point of stinging my eyes after a 5 min drive Will update with fridays findings
  11. Dad owned it before me from new and never had a single issue with the entire car
  12. Decats won't cause that. That looks as though it's has been rubbing on the ground. Its towards the top side under the chassis , Its going to the garage on Friday to see whats happened and to patch it up for now. Id think Decats but the other side is fine , But if its on the top side it cant be anything else sureley.. Il probably be in touch Friday night
  13. Hi Guys , Hoping you can give me a bit of advice and help on this one. At the moment the mesh on my Y pipe has ended up looking like this : I gather this is due to the decats pipes ? If i were to replace it with another standard y pipe would it happen again ? What about aftermarket systems with flexi joins ?
  14. Cheers guys Just looking at aftermarket ones at the moment in case it would do the same thing to another flexi joint , does anyone know it this is right ?
  15. Sealant sealed now its ben heated a bit more ...But while checking that i took a second look at the Y Pipe just shining a torch up and noticed something ..... Now im no expert and can hardly get to it but id say thats knackerd , Whats that riged stuff ?
  16. Still getting gassed despite the paste at the back which is still not hardened to "metal" as it says it does
  17. Did it do it straight after fitting them though ?
  18. Ahh , iv not long put the gaskets in between the decat and pipe so would hope it would not be that but thanks i will check that when i can get it on a ramp Iv had the decats on for a almost 2 months and its only just started happening , Did yours do that straight away or after a while ? I removed and coated the backbox join with exhaust putty after work so will leave that to set and see what its like as well
  19. I wouldnt think you would get any siginficant exhaust smell in the cabin from a small water leak which will be a bit of exhaust condensation. You should really hear something from the exhaust if there was a major leak. I would stay away from gum pastes as they become brittle over time. There ar many high tempurature silicon sealant out there which will do the job better as they are flexible. Flexi joints on the y pipe may be leaking. I thought this too , reading Sams comment about the vacuum i suppose it is possible though , It is loud but i have decats fitted so cant tell if its abnormal , I was going to go for some silicon sealant as i read about the problems with paste. The only one i found is rated up to 250C which although not ideal should be ok for the back box do you think ?
  20. Thanks , I checked the seal around the boot at lunch and all looks ok , There isnt much between the boot and underneath the car as i remember when i was putting in the rear camera its a direct hole from the licence plate to behind the rear plastics. Tightened the backbox join as much as possible but there is still a slight bit of condensation coming out of it so will try and put some sealant in the join and see what happens. I cant see any obvious leaks from the Y Pipe area but this is all while the car is on the ground as i havnt got access to a lift. I think my next move is to put on the sealant at the rear and get someone to cover the exhaust tips while another revs to see if i can see anything further along. Anything else outside of this ?
  21. Or if anyone knows of some decent exhaust paste/sealant i could use on visible joins for now ?
  22. Hi, Recently iv noticed the smell of the exhaust more and more insude the cabin , its at the point now were i cant smell it all the time but feel like iv got petrol on my skin , Have a bad head after 5 mins driving ect. Im arranging for it to go on a lift to get checked out this week. I had a look myself yesterday and theres a tiny bit of water coming out the join to the backbox , other than that i cant see anything that would cause it , especially in the cabin. Do any of you have any ideas on things i could check myself until it goes up on the ramps ? Dom
