Thanks guys. I did an RAC history check (£14.99) that came up all clear. No outstanding finance etc. Thanks Ekona for the credit card tip - that's how I paid the deposit. Paying any part on credit card gets you some protection for the whole purchase iirc. Yes, the V5 I expect to receive after purchase will show the last owner and the number of owners before that (but not their details). It would have been good to ask about that at the test drive but I forgot.

The time has come to sell my 7 year old 370z. No reason for selling, other than I always seem to sell cars when they get to 7 years old. It's the only car I have driven in that time, and I shall miss it. The replacement is what seems to be the Z's nearest relative these days - a Mustang. A nearly-new model from a dealer near Oxford. I have a question about buying from dealers. Having paid a deposit, I wanted to see the Mustang's V5, in order to check the number of previous owners and other details of the car. I emailed the dealer asking for a scanned copy, but he says he can't send it due to data protection. Some web sites (well, just 1 actually) say never buy a car without seeing the V5 first. Now before paying for the car electronically, I would have liked to see that V5. Any advice? I can't remember if I saw the 370Z'a V5 before buying it 6 years ago.

Cheers, some better deals there. The 'Z is my only car, so I need a trade-in really. Buying privately would mean owning a Mustang and a Z for a while, before selling the Z. Wouldn't half look cool though.

Aye but the car is also a year old. Low mileage, but when you (I) eventually come to sell, it'll be worth that much less. Selling a 7 year old Mustang in the year 2023 might fetch £3000 less than selling a 6 year old one. Saw a mustang this morning. Looks good. Rarer than a dodo.

This is true. Saleman emphasising new Mustangs have a billion year waiting list. Unfortunately I'm not really into waiting lists, or paying brand new price for year-old cars. As Trum would say, "sad !"

Example Mustang 5.0 manual near me, 1000 miles on a 65 plate. Sticker price 37,000. Cost of new is only 35,500 (?) Is that right ?

So how much are you looking to spend? You can get a pre-facelift 4.2L X150 for less than a 370z... XK £10k+ XKR £15k+ I'm looking to buy almost new, maybe ex-demo. Don't really want to spend more than Z money. RX-9 would be sweeet but Mr Mazda says "no way". One thing about the Mustang... this thing is even rarer than the Z. You see more Lambos. Is there something we should be told?

People in here have criticised the Cayman. Personally, I can't imagine any Cayman buyer being regretful or disappointed. At the moment, the car most Z-like, at least in market terms, apart from another Z, seems to be the Mustang. Same price, same long-lived model line, same "angle", sort of. Meanwhile, all we want is a Z with updated GPS maps and a passenger window with ONE SHOT FFS.

I'm sure the XKR is not wafty, but I don't want to spend that much. Always liked jags. Sort of miss the old saloons, the rocket powered ones were superb 'Q' cars.

Had a sit in a Mustang today (no test drive). Brand new. Thoughts: Nice looking car, especially from the rear, often a problem area for cars. Z car has nice bum too. Interior - Comfy seats. Big screen. Good toys. Back seats handy. Build quality slightly down on 370Z, but good enough. Wheels - actually looks good with black wheels, unlike some. Driving position - okay. Not that great for me. Tyres - surprisingly, narrower than the Z car (?). That was a 2.8 litre though. Oh and if you drive a Z car they see you coming from miles away.

Thank you. 17-19 mpg. Gulp. They might have made the tank bigger. My Z averages 28 MPG, 30 in summer, and gets over 400 miles from a tank. Still, that's what you get for 2 more pistons and +1.3L. The Mustang seems well liked. More than one reviewer has mentioned the car can be enjoyable at low/moderate speeds, which is cool. Well at the moment it looks like another Z car or Mustang. Or stop all the madness and get a Skoda estate. See what develops in the next few months. Might even test drive a TT, though to get one with Z power would be $$$.

Good news on the noise! So it's not a daft tape recording of a Ferrarri V12. Thank you, how is it turned off? Does it take premium or regular unleaded? And what is the range from a full tank? Sorry to use you as Google.

First bit - its hardly a seachange over the 350, the design and tech is getting long in the tooth. Second bit - errr yeah, there isnt actually anything left. Fair play if you have preconceptions but counting out every German car bcause of "the lifestyle" doesnt really lend itself to a thread like this To clarify - I said I was aware of the Z's age - meaning my vehicle, not the 370Z in general. I usually sell when a car reaches 6 or 7 years old. For the record I think the 370Z still looks cutting edge and is excellent. Which is why it is on my list.

Thank you for the suggestions. My preference is for nearly new, ie. less than a year old, ideal would be ex-demo, 1000 miles. Not keen on German sports cars - too serious, too sensible and too common, all bad qualities in a sports car. Just my prejudice, don't want to argue. Aston Martin, Maser - no, don't want to spend that. Also would look silly outside my 3 bedroom house. Old cars - Can make sense, but don't want an old car. Exige - requires own race track, which adds about £ 10 billion to the cost. Evora - Too tracky, plus I could have a GTR for that. Jag XJR - Cool, almost sub zero but they are asking Mustang cash for 20,000 milers. No ta. Jag F-type - awesome sound but poor VFM. They want 55k for the 370Z power (well 340 PS anyway). Not in a particular hurry to swap, or displeased with the Z, just aware of its age.

No doubt asked many times but new cars come out all the time. I'm thinking Mustang but slightly put off by stupid audio engine sounds, 22 MPG and "burnout mode" cobblers. Golf R - doubtless fantastic until the novelty wears off and you are left with a small hot hatch. Focus RS - admire this motor for being so out-and-out nuts but same problem as Golf. Another 370Z - tempted, might try auto box this time. TT/BMW - too common, all that "lifestyle" nonsense just isn't me. GT86 - RX8 did it better I see Mazda is putting a tin roof on the MX5. Looks lovely but not competing with the above. Nissan GTR - used to be a bargain, not any more. Electric sports car ?

2010 370Z GT, like: looks from all angles effortless power in any situation Excellent audio / USB / MP3 setup Rays alloys General cabin quality - still tight as a drum dislike: small boot poor heating system (just mine) the way I have kerbed the Rays alloys suspension too hard for UK roads = tyres tend to leave road more easily, affecting handling and confidence. Regarding comments above along the lines of "Acceleration is so poor in 6th gear". This is by design and many cars are the same. When I had an RX8, exactly the same comments were made. If its that bad, forget 6th, it won't make much difference

Thanks guys these responses have been helpful. I bought my GT in Sept 2011 (ex demo) and I remember the GT Edition was announced shortly afterwards. Magazines such as Autocar (which I don't trust to be honest) reviewed it and raved about how great the suspension improvements were. As a GT driver, I say the suspension is somewhat too hard and crashy, and more soundproofing is needed too. Both of which were addressed in the GT Edition. I am interested in another 370 (not Nismo), but a little disappointed if it is no improvement on the one I have now (except the facelift). It seems a bit silly if Nissan brought out a model better tuned for UK roads, then reverted to the older model afterwards. Would they really do that? Only a test drive will show, but I'm no expert.

Thanks guys I don't really want to discuss model preferences - as stated I am not interested in the Nismo but thanks anyway. Best looking 370 though. The GT Edition interests me, if it still exists. I can't seem to find any models more recent than 2012, and they are pre-facelift. This one is plainly GT Edition from the photo but the seller is calling it a GT. Not too interested in Nismo. It's even harder than the GT and I want slightly softer. Finding one is not easy. They all seem to be described as simply GT. Perhaps the dealers are confused over the "GT" / "GT Edition" thing. It wasn't the cleverest bit of labelling by Nissan. I am also a bit confused. How did the 2012 facelift work with the GT edition ? Are all post 2012, facelifted Zs now also GT editions ?

OMG I'm not having side stripes. I was hoping somebody would have experience of both cars and could avdvise if the improved soundproofing/suspension is a real improvement.

Sorry to necropost. I'm thinking of changing my 2010 370 GT for something newer. There doesn't seem to be much alternative to another Z really. I'm not that keen on badge cars, but like the value, rarity & fun of the Z, despite the drawbacks (undeniably its a bit rough). Mine is a GT premium. Was thinking of uprading the a "GT Edition", which I guess is tricked out like a GT but with altered suspension. How much different is it? Slightly more comfortable suspension would be welcome, as would any sound proofing.

New Bosch blades received and installed. They feel a bit cheap compared the the factory fitted ones, but seem to work very well. Let's see how long they last. Well the replacement rubber did not last long, or help much. Seems the whole blade needs replacing. @ioneabee and @sipar69 - That Bosch link is for a single 22" blade. 370Z wipers are 21" (drivers side and rear) and 19" (passenger). Yes my driver's side front was getting worn again so just swapped the rubber with the one from the rear wiper. Works fine. Could have swapped the whole plade I suppose.
