  1. If Marshalls can really sell the brand new coupe for 2.2k cheaper than the discounted price elsewhere, then I'm all ears. I suspect Martin's car will be a roadster, whereas I am after a coupe. Nissan are currently doing about 7k discount on roadsters, making the OTR price about 28,750 for the GT. Nice if you're a soft top fan.
  2. Hi One will be MY2009 and the other will be MY2010. They could both be on 10 plates but they are different model years. Connect Premium was brought in with MY2010 and normal satnav was before this in MY2009. The price increase for Connect Premium over satnav was £200 IIRC, so there should be less of a difference than that on 2 second hand cars. Quite how they have a brand new car for £200 more I dont know, the RRP on them is now £35k+ That info will be a big help with my browsing Chris I. However, I was mixed up. It is the "10" plate £27,995 used car that has the Connect Premium. Brand new prices are £29,750 (connect premium), or £28,200 without it. So Nissan are asking £1,550 for connect premium. Meanwhile the dealer is offering a year-old car for only £1755 less than the same car brand new . Ouch. On the other hand, I can, for virtually the same cash, have a brand new car without NC or a "10" plate with it. What would you choose?
  3. A demo eh ? Okay-dokey. I wonder if that means it has been driven hard. Eg. they are asking £27,995 for a "10" plate / 3000 mile GT Coupe (without connect premium but with satnav). At the same time, they are selling a brand new GT Coupe (connect premium) for just £200 more. I guess the "10" plate car must have been made before Nissan made "connect premium" part of the GT package.
  4. Hi, I am looking for a nearly new 370z. 'Been lurking round the dealers. There seem to be a lot of "10" plate cars around with very low mileage, eg. 2500, 3000 miles. These are often 370z GT "connect premium". They seem over priced compared to brand new cars, usually they are within 2k of the brand new list price . Sigh. I suppose the stealer has to make a profit somehow. But what's with that low mileage? Are people buying 370s and selling them after 3 months ? And are the cars then just sitting around for 8 months ? Jim.
  5. Can anybody tell me the width of the car including door mirrors? Brochure says 1845mm, suspect that does not include mirrors though. And can the mirrors be folded ? It needs to fit through my garage doorway which is 2025mm wide. The rx8 mirrors clear it with about 5cm on each side. I'm keeping an eye on used stock and looking out for deals on new cars. If you know anyone offering interest free credit etc, do tell. Jim.
  6. Any ideas exactly when they released the 9gb connect upgrade ? Rabbitstew says: Yes the interior is good but sober. Perhaps Nissan wanted to emphasise a quality improvement in this area, and made it black as a way of doing that. Personally I don't like dark interiors. The dash was rather normal also. This is a sports car and should avoid "normal" wherever possible. Tiny niggles though. How about those satnav map upgrades ? ANy idea how often, and what Nissan charges ?
  7. Had a long test drive on Saturday. Power great and a couple of my worries were put to rest: the ride quality was okay and the front visibility fine. The car is comfortable. One unexpected thing - the steering felt a bit lacking in feedback. might just be a misperception though, and I will have another test drive before/if I buy the car. I never revved it above about 6000. Another unexpected thing - the dashboard is surprisingly sensible. Trip computer showed 25.1 mpg. Auto blipper was good, though I couldn't help rev matching with my foot anyway. It would be nice to really "rive" the car round a few corners, but I would not do that on a test drive. A positive experience overall. Very helpful staff and an enjoyable drive. Any tips on what to look for on a 1 year old 370Z with GT pack ?
  8. Thanks Chris. I wouldn't perform any mods on the car, which will be new or nearly new. Sounds like a reasonable plan after the warranty runs out though. Still surprised at the lack of talk on the auto rev matcher. Before joining here, I was expecting whole topics dedicated to "most outrageous use of the blipper", "most gratuitous roundabout rev fest" , "I overtook him in 1st gear" etc. etc.
  9. Thanks LRC I am considering both new and nearly new. Old M3s and Porches don't interest me much, neither do any of the current German crop. I am really interested in the auto rev matcher. Since nobody has mentioned this, I am assuming most buyers don't go for it. Thanks aroberts I have that brochure already. Paddle shift ... hmm, not sure about that. And yes, I prefer normal leather to suede as you can keep it nice and clean.
  10. Hi Guys Thanks, a lot of people having rx8 anxiety while not answering my questions about the 370z - re MP3 aux in, auto rev match. I need your help guys! And can I add some more - What wheel size is best ? 19" more gangsta but does it detract from the car's handling and comfort vs 18 inch ? Anyone drive an automatic ? Not something I had considered but what is it like ? Air conditioned seats ? Really ? Any good ? Tell me more. The upholstery is suede, which would to be a bit fragile to spills etc. Can I get normal leather instead ? The (front) visibility - I know this is not good, having sat in the 370 in a showoom. Comments ? Do you improve it through seat position etc ? Please be honest. We are talking £33,000 here. And don't tell me your wife gets 3 mpg out of her "rx8", you can't sell it for scrap etc, etc. etc. That is the talk of a deperate fanboi, not a barrel-chested motoring god like you. And don't expect me to defend the '8 - but I would have another if they still made them (for 23k). No, it's the Z car I need to know about, so bring it on. No
  11. Thanks for all the welcomes guys. The loudness and perceived harshness of the mighty Z - is it enough for you to want to take another car on holiday or a long motorway journey (say if you had a Ford Focus as a run around). Would your passenger want to take another car ? Not test driven the Z yet but coming from an 8 I would expect a bunch more power and (inevitably) some loss of balance in the corners. And I would expect a few more MPG, but I am not daft enough to expect double RX8 mileage, ie. 45 mpg, as someone suggested above. Sports car drivers are such optimists . One major attraction is the automatic rev blipper. Bring it on! Any comments on that ? Does the stereo have an audio in, so I can connect an MP3 player (not iPod) ? One other point - boy, is the Z a tricky car to get hold of! Most Nissan dealers don't stock it, know anything about it, or even want to talk about it .
  12. Howdy, First post, nice to be here. I need to change my 7 year old RX-8. Nothing suggests itself except the 370z. A couple of questions: - They say the car is harsh to drive, especially if you cane it. How true is that ? - They also say there is so much tyre noise, your ears get sore on the motorway. Again, what is the truth here ? If you were going on holiday for example, is the 370z so hardcore that you or your girlfriend chooses to take another vehicle if possible ? Cheers, Jim.
