  1. Hi all

I am definitely looking to upgrade my 370Z exhaust soon - probably just after Christmas. I have done a lot of research on the internet and had some great advice from Tarmac.

I was leaning towards Akrapovic but they do seem expensive. Tarmac has suggested Stillen or Invidia Gemini. I know a few of you have Stillen but not sure about Invidia? The attraction with Invidia is that it's not as expensive so I could probably get the work done sooner, but I don't want to sacrifice quality. I'm told that neither system is too in your face under normal driving conditions. That's really important for me - I want a sports car sound but not a chavy "boom" that will upset the girlfriend, the neighbours and make me look an idiot :headhurt:

I'd love to hear your views / suggestions. Also if anyone can recommend a good place to get it fitted in the London / Surrey / Middlesex area that would be even better!

    Cheers all

  2. There are plenty of Zs on Autotrader for £25K with fairly low mileage in a range of colours. I've never seen a blue one in the flesh. I reckon it might be one of those colours that you wouldn't think of at first as being great but probably looks pretty sweet in the flesh!

  3. Wish I had a Zed Shed! I think Twickenham is the loft conversation capital of the UK. Doesn't seem to be week goes by that I don't look out the window and see the car flanked by skips, battered white vans or a lorry delivering a precariously balanced pile of scaffolding poles!

  4. I was told a few years ago by a really good bodyshop that because you have to use a different primer on plastic,ie bumpers, to that on metal you cannot get an exact paint match, its something that even manufactures struggle to get right. If you park under a flourescent street light you can see the difference between plastic and metal.

See now this I have never understood. If the primer is different then why cant they compensate the paint make up to make it match?

I heard it was due to them being sprayed in isolation and the way the flecks sit in the paint. On the main body the car is sprayed from one angle and on the bumpers/sills a different angle. When you put them together they reflect the light differently which gives different shades. This makes more sense to me

For the kind of money we pay for our Zs I don't think a good match is too much to ask! I look at other white cars and I don't see this problem. If end up getting mine done (probably after Christmas) I'll post some pics.

I think I'd just be happy with a slightly better match at the back.

  6. Having just had the use of a 370 with the standard system, even my wife said how poor it sounded after mine

She'll say anything to get a new handbag ;)

You lot know her too well :lol:

My other half hates the whole idea of replacing the exhaust! Is the Stillen meant to be tamer than the Akroppvic - I thought it was louder than the Akro...?

The answer is to hear it in the flesh. More than happy to meet up so you and your misses can see what it is like - next weekend? If interested send me a pm

Thanks for that Colin - I'm a few months away from getting it done (got to get money-sucking Christmas out of the way first) but I'll defo take up your offer when it's time to make a final decision!

  7. Mine is in for some work - lets see how it turns out ;)

What ya having done Colin?

The sills - I'm sure you will see their shape before the rear wheel arch means they are prone to stone chips.

    P1080021.jpg

So some remedial spray work and then put in condoms, whilst hoping that the colour match is better than what the factory turned out.

I gather the colour match problem arises from the the bumpers and sills being sprayed in a separate area to the rest of the car. I can live with the colour changes on my bumpers though - and as it was pointed out to me at Motorline, many Nissan models have this issue and whether we like it not is unlikley to result in a succeesfull warranty claim. Waits to be proved wrong

I see what you mean - my sills are a pretty good match and the front is ok - just the rear. Please post some pictures of yours once the work has been done - I'd really be interested to see if they improve the colour match

  9. hey waltong - where's that sound clip you promised us ?

Sorry. A manic week at work. The sun is due to shine tomorrow, camcorder charged. :-)

Clip below. Not the best but I'll have a proper drive by one done by tomorrow.

    Hi Waltong

Sounds great - I am thinking of getting this system. Would you say it's a good system for someone who wants the car to have a bit more growl but nothing too mental? I definitely do not want something that sounds too 'boomy' or constantly very loud under normal driving conditions (I live in a quiet road and value my good relations with the neighbours ) I just want something that sounds a bit more sporty that the stock.

  10. I had a test drive in a 370z on Saturday. I was impressed. The suspension wasn’t as stiff as I had expected and although the car was loud (mostly tyre roar) it wouldn’t put me off using one as a daily driver. Looked great in the metal as well. A couple of things I did notice were the lack of reach adjustment on the steering and the rear poor visibility. It was good to drive a car with a N/A engine as well – no turbo lag!

Don't let the road noise put you off mate - it's such a great car in almost every other respect and the Bose stereo helps!

  11. Hi all,

I've been thinking about whether to hang on to my current 370 when the finance agreement comes to an end in about 18 months. I had assumed I'd trade in for another but I'm starting to lean towards hanging on to it for a few more years until Nissan make some significant changes to the Z. If I do, as well as a new exhaust system, I'd like to address the one issue that has always bugged me - the lack of colour uniformity on the rear and front panels.

I know this a well known issue with the white Zs but from pictures I've seen it seems to be more of an issue with some cars than others. . A lot depends on the light - it seems much more noticeable when the wheather is dull (dirt doesn't help either). I've attached a couple of shots - one taken in good light and one in dull conditions when the car was in need of a wash.

I'd like your views on whether a decent body shop would be able to repaint the panel and create a better match. (I am thinking of using Sumo Power in Rye for the new exhaust and I think they also do paint jobs, so it could be that I could get it all done in one go.)

I'd also be interested to know how long you plan to keep your 370? Cheers all!

    Good light

  12. Hi,

Picked up the new to us 2010 370 auto Roadster on Friday :yahoo:, much more refined compared to our 07 350 roadster, grip and turn in are superb with a vastly improved ride. Shocked with the fuel consumption - never seen 30+ before, pity it doesn't growl anymore.

    As a newbie I've got a few queries for the 370 meisters;

The handbooks that came with the car make no reference to the roadster or to touch screen navigation and FYI Nissan UK don't hold any?!

The car was advertised with a DVD based nav system, the car has a touch screen, USB port, trick bluetooth pairing, voice recognition and "Music Box", I'm assuming this is the hard drive based connect premium system, which logic would suggest doesn't run off a DVD or maybe it does.

    Have I got connect premium?

How do I update the nav system and does it really cost 399 euros - as advertised by Navteq?

If it's DVD or smartcard based has anyone tried any editing software to add in custom poi's?

Where do I find instructions for managing the music box

    Thanks in anticipation

If you have touch screen, USB etc I am fairly sure you have Connect Premium. Ours is an 09 DVD based system and it doesn't have those features. As I've posted in previous threads, it seems that it's not uncommon for some dealers to not know exactly what they're selling. I've no idea how Connect Premium systems are updated but someone on here will know. Enjoy your new car

  13. Uuum, do you think said spidy can read??!! Username. :p:lol::p:lol:

Many :lol: at both yours and Rabbitstew's post, highly amusing!

No word of a lie - my girlfriend (who let's just say is not quite the clean freak I am) had a mouse living in her old car (which was in regular use at the time) for several months. She's an animal lover and couldn't bear to evict the little fella. Needless to say, I am in charge of keeping the Z clean!

:lol: ......Dont tell me she used to take a little bit of cheese with her every morning as well

Mouse in car is VERY impressive!!!!

There seem to be spiders EVERYWHRERE :scare:

My cat catches at least one nightly and we are on the 2nd floor

Its that time of year when spiders come in from the cold. We have loads in the house atm. Ive got a full time job throwing them back outside for the missus. I really dont know how she spots them, but if theres a spider in the room she knows about it straight away. She must have some sort of spider sense!

Ditto! Mine reckons she can sense them!

  15. Have fun with him  . (I am bucking the trend for "her" as my better half has argued (and I can see her point) that the 370Z is too powerful and aggressive looking to be a "she")

    Enjoy your new car!

Big voluptuous hips, turns heads, makes you happy after a shot in it. I beg to differ!

Oh hang on, I forgot drain on the finances, likes a drink and droans a bit on motorway journeys! :)

  16. Its an auto so £36450, but even so, it must have a boat load of non mentioned options on it!!

But even so isn't it still really expensive considering the mileage? Just curious, what would you put it on for if you were selling it?

Bit of a tricky one, as now the MY2010 cars are going, and this is obviously a 2011MY car, then there is no need to distress sell this car.

However, I think in this current climate anything over list is very optimistic.

Looking at the car, it’s a GT Edition with an auto box, I can’t see any other options on the car, so the list price on it is £36450.

It has done some miles so conceivably it’s a demo, so some write-down should be attached to the car.

Personally if was my car to move on I think it should be around £32-£33k

Sounds a lot more reasonable! Still, I guess if they can't even list it as the right model it's no big surprise that they've over-priced it!

  17. Have fun with him  . (I am bucking the trend for "her" as my better half has argued (and I can see her point) that the 370Z is too powerful and aggressive looking to be a "she")

  18. wow - epic fail :scare:

    +1

Does this one have all of the optional extras they you can possibly get on? I thought you could spec one up to £42K

£42K ouch! :scare: Can't see anything special in the feature list, but they probably just used the generic spec for a 370 GT Pack. No mention of reversing camera, for example.

Even if it does have all the options, it seems very pricey considering the mileage (demo car maybe?) and the current market. Nice car, but it looks a bit like a Black Edition with the cool red bits removed.

Be great if approved dealers actually new what they were selling (I've also seen a standard Black GT Pack listed as a "Black Edition" recently).

  19. Isn't all this stuff about petrol prices / mpg / tax a bit of a red herring for most of us? I know we'd all like to pay less but isn't the truth that we just take it on the chin because we want to drive such a great car?

  20. PH forums are unfortunately full of Trolls who spout absolute rubbish frequently.

I guarantee that 80% (conservative estimate) of people that have commented on the thread have never looked at a 370Z closely let alone sat in one or driven it.

Most of them don't even have the decency to go to a pub to listen to stories of 'my dads mates brothers mate sat in one once' and just type random crap that someone else has posted on the internet and that info was probably stolen from someone else..... It's all a bad game of chinese whispers. A bit like quoting Clarkson as facts for or against a car.

I agree - one of them was citing the rear brace ruining the boot space (!) and several people were going on about the supposedly poor quality interior - both issues that the 370 does not suffer from!

Said it before...say it again: Love having a car that turns heads because its not as common on the roads as the usual suspects. I'd be disappointed if they became as common as the TT, Boxter etc B)
