  1. Hope you enjoy it, Ebized's sounds excellent

My two penny worth as you've asked:- If it were me I think it would drive me mad after a while and somehow the tone isn't classy enough for the car for me but maybe I'm just too old? Having heard the Stillen on Ebized's that would certainly be something that I would go for but that Berk exhaust does also sound very :cloud9::cloud9: to my mind.

Hoping to take delivery of my Stillen today or tomorrow. Just a personal opinion (and I know videos aren't the best way to decide) I think the GTHAUS sounds a bit too in yer face and shouty. I'm not keen on the tone.

Thanks. Delivery fella just dropped it off. Fitting Saturday. Pics and first impressions to follow!!!

  3. On our previous 370Z the dealer went from being very helpful pre-sale to very disinterested in helping post sale. I asked about getting the sat nav software updated and about the possibility of a panel repaint on what I thought was quite a bad mismatch between the rear bumper and the body of the car. The reaction to both can best be described a shrug of the shoulders / "not our problem" (the car was still under warranty) Good to hear the some people have a better experience.

Just a note, a guy I know is a car paint specialist, he particularly specialises in Japanese performance cars, he told me that the body of the car and the plastic bumpers are sprayed in different factories on virtually ALL new cars, and if you look in bright light you can almost always see the miss match. Just thought I would let you know that so you know why you got that, to put it right the bumber would need re-spraying and cutting/grading into the main bodywork

Thanks - I've heard various explanations for the mismatch. I accept that it appears on most cars to one extent or another, but it can be particularly visible on some of the white 370s. (I was told by a Nissan approved bodyshop that quite a few white GTRs have had their bumpers reresprayed under warranty due to this problem recently). The panel match on our new Black Edition is very good, so I'm not stressing over it any more  (Just for interest - it showed much more in dull light on our car - it was much less visible in good light)

  5. If it's not already in the pipeline I would suggest 30 quids worth of plastic guttering. In heavy rain there will be a lot of splash back on the low side which will go everywhere including up the side of your car, and will, in time, accelerate the rotting at the bottom of the posts on that side. Otherwise B)

feather board still to go down that side - but yep, point taken re bottom of fence and posts

Loving the cat! We have two and five rescue rabbits (no jokes about pie please!)

  6. Nice 370 - but your previous 370 colour was better :p

    I'm only jealous :surrender::lol:

 I'll always have a soft spot for the white 370s - they look awesome (although I won't miss fretting about the panel match on my rear bumper  !)

Mine has been listed for sale already. No picture yet though.

  7. 119 Quartz

Not had much chance to drive him yet but very happy so far. Connect Premium and the new audio features seem pretty cool and I'm loving the wheels and red trim.

Would have liked to post better pictures but the weather's been rubbish. Will post some more pics and impressions once the new Stillen is on - hopefully by next Saturday.

  8. Sipar, if you end up going for the Stillen, then I'm confident you'll not be disappointed. I went through the same head-f*ck as you a few months back and ended up with getting a Stillen fitted (courtesy of Tarmac  ). Now I've lived with it for a few months I've no plans to add anything else (uprev, HFCs, etc) as I think the sounds is perfect and the extra power on tap is just enough.

Like you, I didn't desire any more power, and pretty much forgot about the gain. I didn't think the extra claimed 18bhp would be that noticable anyway. Well, I'm thrilled by the difference, completely taken by surprise. It's not just the extra 'speed' that you notice, it's more the way the engine behaves - difficult to describe, just feels 'free-er' and revs very nicely indeed.

I'm struggling to notice any sound difference whatsoever between my Stillen and the Invidia one Chris posted on page 2. I took videos of mine but shot them in full 1080p so each clip is massive - can't find anyway to post them unfortunately.

Caveat - I did panic massively when I heard it first (had never heard on in the flesh until mine was fitted) and thought I'd have to remove it, but, give it time, you soon get used to the extra voice and will grow to love it. Like you, I was massively nervous about it being too loud or chavvy, was surprised at first but now love it.

Thanks for this - helps to convince me further that I've made the right choice!

I am picking up new our Black Edition from WLMG in Slough tomorrow :yahoo: . I have booked the car in to have the Stillen fitted on the 12th (All things going to plan with the car collection, I'll be ordering from Tarmac tomorrow for delivery next week) :yahoo: I chose TGM in Fleet for the fitting on Ebized's recommendation.

So all in all this just goes to show how great and useful this forum is!!! I know we don't seem to have a whole heap of visitors right now, but the help and advice I've had has been priceless! I'll post pics of the car with the Stillen on as soon as it's all sorted.

  9. You're well and truly hooked on the 370 then :yahoo::thumbs:

Definitely! Felt like a good time for a change to a new one. I've been really happy with my white Z (still think it's one of the best colours) but the panel issue on mine was going to cost to sort out and new tyres were probably on the horizon as well.

I've always had a thing for the black edition, but they usually have more miles on the clock than I would like and I prefer the Quartz, so this seemed a bit too good a chance to pass up. We got what felt like a reasonable amount part exchange too.

I spent quite a bit of time lusting over the new GTRs - they also great in black and in white.

Welcome to the clan what number is it?

Thanks. I forgot the number - D'oh! Looks like we are all go to pick up on Thursday, so I'll add my number to the list in the dedicated thread soon.

  11. Yes

    +1

Thanks! Quite a lot's happened since I asked........picking up the new Z (Black Edition in Quartz) on Thursday. Only 6.5K on the clock and in immaculate condition. :yahoo:

Will definitely be getting the Stillen exhaust that I was planning for the current Z asap.

I'll post some pictures soon.

  12. Is it only the white cars that suffer from this variation? :)

No - as Chris ^ says. When I was in a Nissan showroom a few weeks back and raised the issue the service manager pointed out several other Nissan models (and other makes they had in) in a variety of colours where the variations occur.

But from what I and others who saw a number of the first batch of 370's in 2009 the white ones semed to be more noticeable.

Saw a photo of a grey Nismo on the web the other day - rear bumper match was terrible. Also one of the early review photos (can't remember which publication) had photos of a red one - very poor match on the front!

  13. Think I'm going to just go for the exhaust to begin with and maybe consider other changes down the line. After a lot of research I'm fairly sure it will be Stillen. Hope to order from Tarmac and get it fitted by a place recommended by Colin in Fleet.

Just got to decide whether to bite the financial bullet before or just after Christmas. Heart says before, head says after!

  14. Wow, I never realised the paint match was so bad on some of them! My sills look a slightly different colour but I'm not too fussed. The front and rear bumpers are fine.

Just pot luck I think. My front and sills are fine and in some lights the back looks perfectly ok - just looks off in low light. Unfortunately I'm the sort of person that once I notice something like this it will bug me til it gets sorted  I keep being told it will never look perfect but I'm sure it could be better. Off to the body shop to get it looked at tomorrow morning.

  15. I'm not that interested in power gains - there's more than I can possibly handle now

however, am interested in the sound track - what's the feasibility of (for now anyway) just adding the Berks HFC - would this improve the sound ??

Likewise! To me as it's my first car it's a beast already - I'm modding for the sound, not extra power!

  16. At least with the 350z facelift's they upped the bhp.......they don't seem to be doing that with the 370z which to my mind means that they are not going to get the current 370z owners rushing to px their older MY cars for the latest one, when the latest revisions are so superficial.........

This is really why I've decided to hang on to my 09 when the finance agreement comes to an end in about 18 months. We could hand it back and get another but unless something major changes in that time I don't think it's worth it. White is still my fave colour anyway so I'm just gonna spend some pennies on a decent exhaust and keep the car until a major upgrade comes along

  17. The cats have a matrix inside that converts the exhaust gas into a safer gas , a stock cat is around a density of 500 dpi where as a HFC(high flow cat) is nornally around 250/200dpi so it is less restricting,so the exhaust gas flows easier so less restricting , but still allows the car to pass the MOT emission test.

Being less restricting fitting HFC's makes the car's sound a lot better and then fitting a nice exhaust system and a remap will keep the car legal and let the car sound and go like it should.

    hope that helps.

    Thanks!

  18. Whatever you get, and my biased opinion is Akrapovic Evolution ;), get a set of HFC's, again I'm biased toward Berks, you certainly won't regret it

Care to elighten a total noob to mods about what High Flow Cats do, what they will add to a set up, and likely cost...(I am learning more and more every day ;) )

  19. Whatever you get, and my biased opinion is Akrapovic Evolution ;), get a set of HFC's, again I'm biased toward Berks, you certainly won't regret it

I know the Evolution is meant to be a great system but the prices I've been quoted for it are more than I really want to pay.

  20. (not having the blue tips though - don't like em!).

See, thats the difference that would sell it for me. Burnt cut-away tips :cloud9:

Invidia stuff has pretty solid reliability so you won't go wrong

Thanks - that's good to know - I was wondering if cheaper cost meant poorer quality but there are some good detailed reviews on US sites and they seem to be well regarded systems.

  21. Thanks for the replies guys! Can't wait to get it done. Invidia might just shade it due to the significant price difference (not having the blue tips though - don't like em!).

I will let you know once it's been done and try and post pics / vid B)
