  1. I wasnt sure if that was the case.Thanks. I will delve a bit deeper tomorrow then,Hopefully something of nothing,Spent all day telling my mates at the show how reliable these cars are!!!
  2. Not used the car for about 2 months,Had to disconnect the battery for about an hour yesterday to put a bit of charge into it.Fired up first go as usual and has been fine on the 2 subsequent runs to the shops and for fuel. However i have noticed that the car seems quicker than i remember just as it did before mapping adjustments were made for the Berk HFC's when it was running very lean.Ive been to the malton breakfast meet this morning with no issues and covered about 150miles since i had the battery off.Coming home from the gym tonight i got about 5 miles and the engine light came on.This has never happened before and the car is babied all the time it has wanted for nothing .Im wondering if a hfc has collapsed (I have no change in performance or tick over) and the ecu has detected an emissions fault.Or that the uprev has been somehow upset by me removing the battery and has leaned things off back to a previous map and upset the ecu. I will have access to my obd scanner tomorrow, but wondered if anyone has any thoughts?
  3. I gained a consistent 2 mpg increase. 1000 miles pre modifications 23.9 1000 miles after 25.8 Been 12 months now and still the same.
  4. I have Brek HFC,milltek with y pipe, lightweight AMS pulleys, plenum spacer,JWT pop charger and uprev. Only managed 296 BHP at the flywheel on rs tunings dyno.I had 284 when i got there! This little lot cost me £2000. I dont recommend wasting money on HFC unless youre minted and only want them because you can, I gained nothing from them. Speaking from experience i would fit the plenum spacer and hks in box filter then go for the uprev. Exhaust are expensive and gain little. If your exhaust is rotten and you can pick up the parts second hand then go for it otherwise save your money and put it towards your next car.
  5. Love your car. That sits about right on those springs with those wheels.I like it. That paint looks excellent.Black is notoriously difficult to get right.
  6. Looks tidy. Also there is a uk sat nav and screen on ebay now. No bids.Probably be cheap.
  7. Looks good. Best colour. Any plans for it?
  8. Nope. Not near beverly yesterday. I always waved when i had minis, but i feel a bit stupid doing it in the z,some wave back some screw their face up like im some sort of mentalist. If im in her car,I do however wave at other burgundy rover 25s when ive got the girlfriend with me,she gets very annoyed.
  9. Thats come up well for just a quick wash. I like the look of yor car, cant put my finger on it but it just looks right.
  10. Gunmetal with nismo kit is mine. 1st time for me at malton, didnt even know it had been on in the past. Nice to see a few Zs out and about.
  11. Did the same thing yesterday. Having the bad one repaired then all 4 polished rims painted instead of polished. I look after my wheels and clean them correctly and seal them regularly but they still started to perish, even on tiny marks. Ill get them back wednesday,I think they will still look as good but without the worry. This is before painted rim.(£25 each) Ill post the results for you to see when i pick them up.
  12. I agree about the torque being important and that was my aim with the HFC's. Thats what dissapointed me.No gains torque wise. The bhp gain was within what i expected and paul did say that my different wheels and tyres fitted after the first uprev last year would have an effect on the figures. But then again it was a much colder day so that should have been in the cars favour. He noticed that the pirellis were getting very sticky,so much in fact that i could hear them sticking to the ramps on the way off the dyno. There will always be variables. I will try to take a photo of all 4 graphs and post them up so people can have a more in depth look if they want.
  13. I use it in summer when my car is not muddy or particularly dirty. I really like it. Nobody bats an eyelid when the concourse lads whip out the meguiars ultimate quick detailer after driving to a show and i think the greased lightning is the better of the two products. Usefull for dusty wheels as well. Use common sense though and use as directed.
  14. I have not posted my results or opinions to have a 'moan'.Im not chasing figures and just want the best for my car. I could have come on here and said my cars been transformed and goes like a rocket, but the truth is its a bit louder and thats about it.Im no mug and have a good knowledge about cars and mechanics. However when buying quality products at considerable cost i expect them to perform or give results somewhat in line with what the manufacturers and retailers claim. I have put my results on as a genuine honest representation of what ive found and hope it will be of benefit to forum users in the future. In conclusion i think the pulleys are of no benefit,a cheap exhaust would be as good(but should only be fitted if the standard ones rotten),the sport cats are of minimal gain and if you're set on an uprev you might as well fit the plenum spacer. The uprev is worthwhile and will increase fuel economy but it will take alot of miles to re-coup the savings at the pumps. I hope this doesnt come accross as me being p*ssed off or angry as im not.But if people are going to make comments without the facts to back it up then its best not to lead people in the wrong direction. We join these forums to share knowledge and help like minded individuals make informed decisions.
  15. Previous to the 1st uprev it had a standard air box with hks filter. This made 284 bhp with the plenum spacer and milltek. After uprev it made 292bhp/275lbft (June 2011) 2nd uprev today with Berks, pop charger and pulleys started at 291.4bhp/275lbft and ended at 296.7bhp/275bhp. Its the early engine not the rev-up. Another point to bear in mind is that if i had bought a later car rev-up or HE i would have still fitted an exhaust/uprev and Berks.I would then have spent £20,000 instead of the £15,000 i have in it now. Although people suggest that there are gains within the mid range i can assure you there are not. When we overlayed the previous run from last year some points are even marginally lower. Anyway, theres no more i can "bolt on" as it were,so i think im at a dead end with this one.Might as well enjoy it for the reliable good looking car it is and leave it at that.It was bought to replace my cosworth and unfortunately besides not having to weld it every MOT it falls someway short in the enjoyment i got from the RS. Ive no intention of selling the nissan but urge people to consider the small gains from the stacks of money you have to put in to it.If you are in the fortunate position to be able to afford the upgrades and dont want to feel as if your car isnt at its full potential, then,as i was, this thread wont bother you,but if you have to save and go without other things then keep your money.
  16. Been to RS tuning in Leeds today to have my uprev tweaked. Fitted Berk HFC's and AMS pulleys last week and read that the sport cats could cause a leaning of the fuel/air ratio. This is correct the car didnt even complete its first run before Paul was worried by the mixture and aborted at 4000rpm. He then set about sorting it and gave the car a run.It was already at 292bhp from the previous uprev map in june last year. Todays first run was 0.6 bhp down with torque exactly the same at 275lb/ft. I thought this was a good starting point and we would see an improvement,Sadly not. Paul spent alot of time with it today and we still only ended up with 296bhp and 275lb/ft. Thats an increase of 4bhp and no torque gain for the total of £670(BERKS/PULLEYS/MAPPING) I didnt expect massive gains and was under no illusions as to what to expect but am a little dissapointed. This is by no means a slur on the lads at RS tuning, they know their onions and i will no doubt use them again in the future. I have now spent the following on the car- Milltek-800 uprev-480 Plenum spacer-150 JWT pop charger-100 Berk HFC's-370 Ams pulleys-180 Thats a total of -£2080 for what in the end was 15lb/ft and 12bhp! Dont get me wrong, the car drives great but i was looking forward to today and now feel the Berks were a complete waste of money.
  17. Put my z away mid december.Been using my ranger pick up day to day.Took the girlfriend out in our other car a rover 25 1.4 and couldnt believe how fast it seemed in comparison to the truck, she even called me a sad b*stard when i was grinning coming off a roundabout on the redline in 2nd. Ive had the z in the workshop this week for a service, belts and fitment of my berks and ams pulleys so it will probably feel very fast indeed. Gonna tax it on 1st of march and get it booked in at RS to sort out a tweak to the uprev for the new cats. Quite excited really, cant wait.Like waiting for a new car again.Hope the mice dont eat my seats and wiring in the next 2 weeks, they've made short work of the saxo's cobra buckets even though its full of poison!
  18. I understand its not absolutely necessary i wondered if it was something that was done as a matter of course to avoid any issues on initial running of the berks. Doesnt matter to me really as its of back to RS tuning when theyre fitted. Just thought it might be adviseable. Ill leave it then.
  19. Im fitting my berk high flow cats this week. Should i re-set the ecu when im finished or is there no need? Didnt even know this was possible but seems adviseable according to the very good fitting guide on youtube. What harm can it do? Ive looked into how to do it but surely its easier to take the battery off overnight. Any advice please.

    New Car!

Thats a very good beal on the bmw. My 1996 318is coupe was the best car ive ever owned. They look good,go well and arent silly on fuel.Best of everything in my opinion. Good colour combination with the wheels you have as well.
  21. Looks good,Prestige are known for their quality cars. They're on my doorstep but didnt have any zeds when i was looking i hope youre pleased with it. Do you live near Selby?
  22. PM sent. Very grateful.Thanks.
  23. looks good to me certainly worth a serious look at that money. Those modifications arent cheap,if you got cheap car at £5000 with more miles you'd still spend £3000 on the bits! You know what youre loking for with these cars if its crap walk away. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
  24. send a money request to adam_sasha@yahoo.co.uk ill put my address on there with a few quid. Thanks.
  25. Got my berks and ams pulleys coming from him.I never thought to ask. Ill send him an email . Thanks.Hows the 370 going? They look alot shorter and wider than the 350.Different to drive?
