  1. If its any help mate, i always run my car on 99 ron momentum. All my driving was short journeys ( less than 2 miles) my car was in tip top condition with full up to date service history.

If i put £40 worth of petrol in i would get around 132 miles. I only put up with it as i only done 3000 miles a year in the zed! :)

I also stay near glasgow so due to bad weather i also was driving carefully.

So my mpg seems reasonable to u mate? as i said, im strugglin to get 100 miles out of £50/8gallons. I'll fill up with momentum a few times, see if that helps iron things out.

No mate i think your fuel economy is really bad. I would expect around 165 miles for £50. All cars are different mate!

Im not the most technical person but as you've went from 95 ron to 99 ron, it might help if you reflash your ecu. I think you can do this by disconnecting the battery???

I think this gives you the benefits of the 99 ron sooner rather than having to go through a few tanks of fuel before your engine adjusts for the higher octane.

I might be wrong about this probably better asking someone who knows a bit more about it. ;)

  3. Exactly, well said. £2k on car wax is no more stupid than buying a brand new BMW that loses £5k as you drive off the forecourt :p;)

I'm only teasing, absolutely no harm or offence intended :)

    No offence taken mate.

Im glad i got nearly £7000 dicount on my new bmw :p Only because the new one's out soon. The reason why i didnt wait and pay full price for new model is that i prefer the e90. Also, its going to be a year or two before they bring out the m sport!

  4. So why the need to call someone who spend that money "stupid" ?

If you read my post again you will see that i was asking the question, " who would be stupid...".

At no time did i refer to anyone personally as being stupid.

Im almost positive that you'll want to keep this going, therefore i sincerley appologise to anyone whom i may have offended for implying that they may be stupid for spending a small fortune on a tub of car wax! :)

  5. My point remains Can/Can't afford, to call someone stupid just because they can stinks of jealousy IMO

I appreciate your opinion mate, and if someone wants to pay x amount of money for something then fair enough.

But i can assure you im jealous of no man! Im as happy as a pig in @*!# right now. Just picked up my brand new bmw last wednesday, im flying out to egypt on monday for a wee week away with the wife, my 7k trade in cheque from bmw fell through the letterbox today.

    Life's great! :)

As ive already said i might be alot of things but jealous just isnt one of them!

  6. I'd rather spend £2K on a wax than give money to starving children, but that's another story.

    WTF :surrender:

    Well, I would.

    I probably would too

If someones got the money to spend £2k on the wax then good for them. I can't stand people who feel the need to slate others because they couldn't afford to buy it themselves

I never said i couldnt afford it, i just said i wouldnt pay that much for it. Theres a difference!! :)

  7. Hi mate, i always used momentum and i found it to be really good.

I would recommend mark at the garage in motherwell, he is really good, really knows his stuff and will spend all day answering all you questions! He is also very reasonable.

By the way, his garage is actually called " the garage" :)

  8. Seriously, who would be stupid enough to buy into a car wax that costs thousands?

A good prep and a couple of coats of dodo juice wax or autoglym hd wax and its job done.

Lets face it theres kids out there starving to death for the sake of a couple of quid!

  9. Just had a quote from aviva online for my brand new bmw 320i m sport plus. £230! with my wife as an additional driver. Ive got full ncb, my cars garaged and i only do up 6k miles per year.

They also quoted me on my 2010 vx corsa 1.2 sxi, £305. Same details but ive only built up 1 years ncb on corsa and my wife is main driver and im additional driver.

Thats a total of £530 per year to insure my two cars :#1::yahoo:

  10. You couldnt have looked very hard mate. Ive just traded in an absolutely mint gunmetal grey with perfect standard wheels with new tyres!

I had it on piston heads and only had one enquiry a few days before i traded it in. All i was looking for was 7k. When i say the car was perfect i mean pristine and totally standard as it was when it left the factory :)

  11. I have it on the 911, along with alloy wheel damage. Think it was £300 all in for that, includes 5 tyres and 5 wheel repairs over 3 years. Given how a single tyre is over £300 and all my wheels are diamond-cut lips, it seemed a no-brainer to me. Haven't had cause to claim yet, but I've got one tiny chip on one alloy that will get claimed for just before the policy expires, along with anything else that needs doing.

Did you take it with porsche or elsewhere mate?

A few people told me to shop around as bmw was expensive and that im cheaper going straight to the insurer direct,

  12. Anyone had any experiences good or bad with tyre insurance.

Ive just bought a new bmw and its fitted with run flats. Ive been offered tyre insurance for a one of payment of £250.

I was told it covered me for 4 years or 5 tyres. It covered £300 per tyre any more and i pay the difference, theres no excess, no deductions for wear and tear but tyre obviously has to be road legal, also covers run flats. I think the only thing is you have to use approved garages and you have to contact them before any work is carried out.

I think its too good to be true as the policy price is about the same price as one tyre. Also it covers accidental damage and malicious damage.

Sorry man am I missing something?

Too good to be true? I sounds like daylight robbery to me! Are you basically saying your insuring your tyres against a puncture or being slashed for 4 or 5

£250???? I'd rather set fire to a pile of notes than give an insurance company £250 to insure my tyres!

How many punctures/tyre slashings have you had in the last 5 years? 1 maybe 2........personally I'd run the risk (or better still put the £250 to getting some decent tyres and getting those hateful runflats off).

Only thinking about it just now. Insurer replaces run flats if they get a puncture! Lets say my tyres have 2mm tread left and i get a "puncture" they said they would pay for a tyre up to £300.

Also replacing the runflats with none runflats invalidates your car insurance, also this year new mot legislation states that a car originally fitted with run flats will fail an mot if none runflats are fitted!

  14. I think the 10% of total benefit fiddling scum bags give the other 90% of genuine claimants a bad name!

Are all kids chavs? 10% maybe are, 90% are normal.

Are all BMW drivers w*nkers? 10% are, 90% aren't. Doesn't stop them getting the bad press though.

I think everyone of us making a point here are doing so about the 10% that make everyone feel hard done by. I am glad I live in a country that helps people that are in need. I don't like the fact I live in a country that can be taken advantage of by lazy scumbags. I firmly believe that a reform is required to weed out that 10% that take advantage so those that do not need to claim at all can get some satisfaction that their tax contributions are going to good use. I'm sure this would also let the remaining 90% of claimants feel better too.

I'm very sorry Mr Stew but I must beg to differ on your proposed figures re BMW drivers ... must be other way around surely?

Ive only had my BMW a few days now, how long will it take for me to turn into a ****#r? :p

  16. OK, so its snowing up here in Scotand, ive got the day off work and nothing to do. Ive just spent the last 3 hours clearing paths for my elderly neighbours :teeth: .

During the past few hours i have counted no less that 14 benefit scroungers, all perfectly fit to do an honest days work, but cant be arsed.

I understand there are lots of people who cant work, but why are these scroungers not put to work clearing snow, picking up litter etc?

I also spoke to a neighbour who is 60 years old soon and hasn't worked since he was 37 when he lost his job. He didnt take another job due to the fact that he has been helping his wife bring up there 6 kids, the youngest of whom is now 22 year old. He has lived in the same house for the past 23 years rent free, now his kids have flown the nest why does the council still pay his rent on a 4 bedroom house?

The only good thing is that his children all work.

Honestly, the government should have a system in place that if you've been on benefits more than, say 3 months and cant find meaningful employment, you should have to work for your benefits.

  17. Had to say goodbye to my Zed today, only had it 10 months. Absolutely loved every minute of it, but in the end the fuel prices became too much.

I originaly bought it as a toy but as my son past his test and claimed my other car, i found it just too expensive to run on a daily basis

Anyway after trying to sell it privately for about a week i decided to trade it in as the BMW dealer i was buying my new car from offered me £500 less than i wanted in a private sale!

I dropped my car off and even the general manager commented on the condition of the Zed, he said its in far better condition than the 2 year old 370z that he took as trade in last month!

Picked up my brand new BMW 320i m sport plus today and i'm over the moon with it. Its white with dark chrome alloys and exhaust, full leather, bluetooth, door handle light etc etc.

I think this is all the car i will ever need, looks good, has a bit of poke and really good on fuel. The stop start system will take a bit of getting used to but so far its faultless :)

I'll get some pictures up of both cars soon and whoever buys my Zed will grt a brilliant car ;)

  18. I dont think independence is a good thing for us Scots or the UK as a whole. I class myself as a Brit/Scot.

Its possible for us all to be British without losing any of our national identity.

United we stand, divided we fall!

But i do think us Scots in general Have a better standard of education, we are liked more when we go abroad and we are better looking than the rest of the UK. :yahoo:

Also i know Braveheart isnt an exact representation of our historical paste, but I bet the English were sick when they saw it. :drunk:

  19. And you think things will be better?

    they will for us

Don't get started on this topic boys. Why is it that you believe the Scottish are sponging off the UK economy? I like our country being part of the UK but I firmly believe it could hold its own. Don't believe everything you read - if England would be so well off without Scotland, it would of cut its ties many years ago!

If Scotland was independent before the Thatcher years we would have been a wealthy wee country.

I dont think westminster is taking the whole independence thing serious. I also think that an independent Scotland could be a successful Scotland. If it all goes tits up and we end up in the @*!#, at least it will be our own @*!#.

After all we Scots have got a reputation for being tight when it comes to spending a coin, being prudent with our wealth could end up being our greatest asset.

    Freedom!!

  20. House of lords voted tonight against limiting benefits to just over £26000. They have decided child benefit cant be taken into account!

Whats the point in voting during an election if the people your voting for cant make any decisions without the go ahead from a bunch of unelected no users sitting in the house of Lords.

I dont want to open a can of worms here, but when the time comes for us Scots to vote for or against independence this is something I for one will reflect upon!
