Forgot to say it a 2004 GT with 55k miles on the clock, it does have full and up to date service history but i was wanting more peace of mind
Hi mate, you've bought my old car. I traded it in a few months ago
-
I did have some of these on my zed, I think it's where the clay dries out a little bit and sticks to the paint.
I am sure I used my buff daddy to get them out.
Am i correct in saying the marring can be polished out by a pro?
-
Respray needed......
PM tim at envy mate, he will assist your question.
Cars only 5 weeks old with 400 miles.
-
I clayed today for the first time. I used dodo juice clay bar and lube. After claying ive noticed some marring on the paint work.
I then hand polished using dodo juice lime prime but it didnt remove the marring. Question is, would using auto glym srp remove the marring or do i need someone to machine polish it out?
By the way i used plenty lube and i wet every panel before claing as it was a warm day!

Try turning on the air con, it will smooth out the engine rattle that ocurs every few seconds. Cant comment on you clutch noise though

I bought my zed last year. When i bought it i knew how bad the mpg would be, but in the end i was getting 21 mpg everywhere. Car was fully serviced and always run on tesco momentum.
I dont regret buying it but im glad to see the back of it.
Now drive a brand new 320i m sport and although its a totally different car im loving it and getting 45 mpg everywhere!
TBH if fuel efficiency was that important to you, and you knew the Z would be thirsty in the first place, why did you buy a 3.5l V6? 21mpg is normal for urban commutes with moderate traffic to negotiate.
I'm sure the beemer is good car, but it's not quite the head-turning beast the 350z is. That being said, I certainly wouldn't want to commute in one. That would be painfully expensive. Mine's a weekend toy :-)
TBH mate, ive always had turbos vxr's etc. I had knee surgery so i sold my vxr and bought my wife a wee corsa to get me about as i couldnt drive.
When my knee was recovered and i could drive again i thought i would have a zed. As i mentioned i knew what i was getting into, but mpg wasnt a problem as i had the corsa for everyday driving. Then my son past his test and i insured the corsa for him. As my son now thinks its his corsa
i had to use the zed as my daily drive.
I loved every minute of the zed and it was totally problem free. I traded both the zed and the corsa in last month and replaced them with brand new 320i m sport plus and a brand new mini cooper.
Great car the zed, but as i said i was glad to see it go

Ive had 2 new astra vxr's and ive drove a few corsa vxr's. I bought a new bmw last month and i was so impressed with it i bought my wife a brand new mini cooper last week. Mini is in a totally different league to the vauxhalls. Granted its not a cooper s but i got the jcw alloys fitted and it looks and drives
VXR range is great when new but they soon start to show poor build quality. Best thing about the astra vxr was the keyless entry system.

Oh my head hurts.
Just keep it all in one thread mate. Much easier for everyone concerned!!
No probs, had a hard day haggling out a deal on the mini

Gah!
I fixed the link then you have over written it again!
sorry lexx, i didnt mean to put the link onto this post. It was for another thread that i started around the same time.

I traded my 350z in last month and bought a new 320i m sport plus and im loving it. I also have a vx corsa which i traded in today and bought a new mini one with pepper pack as a second car.
Im thinking about fitting carbon fibre wing miror covers to it and having the roof wrapped in black. Can anyone recommend anywhere to have this done? I live about 30 min from glasgow.

Tututut......no detailing for the Zed but for the BM all stops are pulled out.
All i did to the zed was wash with autoglym car shampoo/conditioner , polish with super resign polish and cleanse with hd cleanser and finally wax with autoglym hd wax. I would top up the wax every couple of weeks with aqua wax.
Actually i got really good results with that routine now i think about it.
Theres a new autoglym srp out thats not as grity and its got cleansing properties included.
When i get time i'll post photos of my zed after an amatuer detail and my bmw before and after

Sounds like a good plan. My only advice would be a new pair of shades to protect your eyes from the shininess when your done
Cant help thinking im missing something out mate

Ok, so im going to have a go at detailing my own cars. Ive opted to use dodo juice products. Ive listed below the steps/products that im going to use, so any comments/advice would be gratefully appreciated.
1, wash car using two bucket method using dj born to be mild shampoo and wash mits.
2, clay car using clay bar and dj born slippy lube.
3, Repeat stage 1 again.
4, polish/cleanse car using dj lime prime or lime prime light by hand.
5, Wax car using dj supernatural wax.
6, maintain finish by regular washing and by using dj red mist.
I intend to use lime prime on my 1 year old saphire black vauxhall and lime prime light on my brand new alpine white bmw.
I will wash and use dj red mist weekly, i will wash and top up with dj supernatural wax monthly and i will repeat all steps every six months.
I know it looks a bit ocd but i want to get it right from the start.
Thanks for any advice in advance!

I'd use Lime prime lite as a pre wax cleanser followed by Supernatural or Supernatural Hybrid.
If you do go for it let me know and I'll send you a discount code to use with us
Thanks for the advice mate, i'll also need born to be mild or supernatural shampoo, glass cleaner and i might get the tyre dresser if its any good.
Should i buy normal lime prime for my saphire black vauxhall as its over a year old now.
-
Sounds good to me, hope your mileage goes up as i wouldnt want it to spoil your enjoyment of your new car.
Let me know how you get on once you've filled up a few times.
-
so should i use srp or lime prime before the super natural wax?
Any other suggestions tips welcome
-
We can use this one if you want - he smells of chocolate
You'll be able to smell more than chocolate the time were finished with it
-
Do you know what the dj polish is called?
I think it might be called lime prime?
-
Cheap skates! Now if you REALLY love your Z then this is for you...
-
Ive always used autoglym srp and hd wax. Ive just bought a brand new alpine white bmw.
I was thinking about changing to dodo juice products but i simple find there range confussing
Anyway what products would you recommend to polish and wax my car.
Ive also got a saphire black vauxhall, would i need a seperate wax for it or is there one wax that would do both cars?

sure the tourist areas will be well guarded!
Think i'll leave my thong at home!
-
Its not reflashing but resetting bug yeah your pretty much there.
Is this the same as "the pedal dance", which im still not sure actually worked as i had no engine management lights on, so im not sure it reset. I basically disconnect and the reconnect my battery?
I think you leave it disconnected for a while mate. Make sure you have your radio code just incase.
Better asking someone exactly how its done.
I only had my zed for 9 months before i traded it in, ive always had turbos before ( vxr's) therefore im more informed when talking about the vxr range.
I think my next performance car will be a turbo again, i found my vxr's only ate fuel when you where giving it some
. The rest of the time i got the same mpg as a normal 2.0L.
I found the zed just ate fuel all the time irrespective of how it is driven.
Im still really glad i bought it though as soon big engines will be a thing of the past.

I can only imagine some of the things that this teddy will be getting up to
. Really looking forward to the photos!
I might even book a weekend to Amsterdam, just to get some intresting photos with teddy

Mean't to say if you require any info about it let me know. By the way it had a full service 2000 miles before i traded it in!
It had everything changed including oil, filter, diff oil, gear box oil, brake fluid, coolant system, air filter and most importantly spark plugs!!
I also changed all wipers to bosch flat blades.
The wheels where also refurbed by custom coatings in bellshill and still under warranty.![:)](https://www.350z-uk.com/uploads/emoticons/default_smile.gif)
