  1. I'll take that as a 'no - it can't be done' then?
  2. Only I'm driving to Germany shortly and the KPH numbers in the speedo dial are soooooo small I can't actually see what speed I'm doing in KPH.
  3. How does that front spoiler get over even the merest of speed humps???
  4. Hi guys Well thanks for all the replies - fantastic - and the links to other threads (cheers Carla). Clearly sports bags are the way to go together with keeping a rein on the missus clothing, shoes etc... Also thanks for the piccy of the (not-so) hidey hole. I was expecting some awesome new chamber to be revealed but no...its the rear glove box Again - thanks chaps & chapettes for all your time and effort spent replying!
  5. When people say 'hidey hole' behind the passenger seat are you talking about the (very) shallow 'tray' hidden in rear compartment??? If so you can barely get a passport in there so I'm a little confused.
  6. Great thread 1 question - When you get on the Autobahn how do you know you're on an unrestricted speed limit bit? Is the default unrestricted and you wait to see signs saying (say) '100' to know you are now on a restricted bit? If so, how do you know when that restriction has finished?? Sorry for the questions but I'm driving to Nuremburg myself in 6 weeks for the first time.
  7. Right...I got it done at Kwik Fit yesterday for £50 as I couldn't be arsed waiting for the stuff to arrive from e-bay and then fouling it up myself They managed to get the temp down to 3.5 degrees C (Yep 3.5 degrees C on the gauge read-out) from 4.5c. Only 1 degree but well over a 10% improvement throughout the temp range. They take the measurement by blocking all of the vents except 1 and sticking the gauge in that one. They were most impressed. Apparently its VERY rare to get a reading of 3.5c and he has only ever seen a few 'German Jobs' get close with 3.5c to 4c readings (but usually nowhere near it). The pressure gauge indicated that I'd lost over 50% of my 'coolant' even though I was getting readings of 4.5c. Not to shabby eh chaps.
  8. Hi Guys Am doing the Europe thingy with the missus for 11 days shortly and am just beginning to see the (lack of) luggage space problem that comes with the Z. So, I need to get creative here! Short of not taking the mrs I can only think of swapping the spare tyre for a can of tyre weld which will free up a bit but do you guys have any other tips? I don't really want an external solution (roof rack etc) just some small tweaks that can be done internally like the one I've just mentioned. I've got a bad feeling about this though. Cheers
  9. Only I fancy doing it myself as you can get the cans of EZ Chill from car accessory shops or e-bay for about £17 I believe - and this will do 2 cars. There's a You-Tube video of how to do it here and it seems REALLY simple, like blowing up a tyre: Anywho...anyone know where the port is (to plug the can into) on a 350z? A picture would be handy if anybody has one.
  10. Per the title - anyone done it? I'm a 'fair' driver and have a (2006) 296 bhp Z which I was contemplating taking on a track day so my questions are: 1. How did you get on and have you got any tips for setting up the car? Nothing to elaborate mind its just a bit of fun. 2. Am I likely to be left behind by all of the Chavs in their highly tweaked 500 bhp euro boxes? Cheers.
  11. Can I just say that it is VERY important that you un-tick 'Preserve Favourite Websites Data' in the Delete Browsing History screen in IE v8. I was tearing my hair out before doing that.
  12. Hmmm...I've just bought a 2006 reg car - I presume you can tell by (say) the different front grill? Power output stated in the Hand Book? etc
  13. I've seen this term before "MY06" - what does it mean? Yes, yes "Newbie alert" I know
  14. I don't suppose it can be retro-fitted either...damn shame...seems like an awfully good function to have.
  15. Damn! That would explain it then - US only feature. Yes - I was reading a downloaded pdf owners manual so it could very well be a US version. That explains it chaps. Thanks a million.
  16. Hi again people. Reading the handbook I'm informed that the Trip Computer should display the tyre pressure readings once the car is doing over 16 mph or if it can't display them it should instead display 4 dashes thus ----. Yesterday I tried cycling through all of the Trip Computer Modes (by pressing the button) whilst driving at 25 mph but got no read-out on the Computer that looked like either a reading of Tyre Pressure(s) or the ---- display. My questions then are: 1. Its a 2006 model - Do all of the models have this Tyre Pressure Monitoring System or is it only selected models/years? 2. Although I checked the display at 25 mph this was immediately I got to that speed from a cold start - do I have to wait a while for the sensors in the wheels to "wake up"? Just to add, the tyres look like the standard Nissan type. Whilst typing this I can't remember the actual make but do remember looking at them the other day and noting that they are the tyres I've seen mentioned on here. Thanks in advance for any guidance on this chaps. im00
  17. Hi Guys Per the thread title. This has just started happening this weekend. When the phone is dialling or you are talking there is an intermittant electronic 'ticking' sound coming out of the speaker every 4 seconds or so. Has this happened to anyone else? Cheers
  18. +1 also posted on the other thread, You have 2 repairers Replied on the other thread - brilliant, thanks
  19. I have pm'd him and am awaiting a reply
  20. Damn. I feared someone would say that I wont get the factory phone kit working with an aftermarket unit. Anybody know of any Bose repairers I can contact? Cheers
  21. As per the title really. My new 'Z' purchase came with the Skipping CD issue so I'm going to replace it but what with? I'm no techie so I'll be getting it fitted by a 3rd party company. Here's the spec I'll require: Must have 6 CD Changer Must be controllable by all of the switches on the steering wheel Must allow the Phone to work Must work in conjuction with the factory fitted Bose Speakers & Sub-Woofer Nice if it had an Aux-In Not fussed about a built in Tape deck Price must come in at under £450 to £500 Is this do-able and if so whats the perceived wisdom on the best choice??? Many thanks in advance for any help.
  22. Are you sitting comfortably? I just rang my nearest Nissan dealer - Crawley Down Group - and asked for the price of a replacement Nissan/Bose unit. Not for installing mind - just supply. How much do you think??? I was flabberghasted... £1,490.00 I mean seriously, I can get a 60 inch 1080p Plasma TV for less!!! I'll bet they don't sell many of those. I'll start a new thread for the best straight replacement unit for £500 or less (supply only)
  23. Hi all I've just got my Z (2006 model) and I've noticed that the CD (Nissan badged, Bose CD) skips when the vehicle is cold but this goes away once the car has been on the road for a while. Now I know this has probably been done to death on the Z forums but I'm confused so my questions are... 1. On the one hand I'm told its condensation on the discs and on the other its condensation on the laser reader itself - whats the definitive answer? 2. I'm told only a new head unit will cure the problem but surely its an inherant design fault and even a new unit will succumb eventually? 3. If its down to the player how much is a replacement unit from the dealer - has anyone done this? 4. Is it right that due to the nature of the problem it will go away in the summer? 5. Would secreting Gel packs around the cabin cure the condensation issue in the winter? This is a very annoying problem. Thanks in advance for any info.
