  1. Tyres are looking a little low (down to 3mm front and rear on the inside) now, so will have to do some serious thinking sooner rather than later on the tyre front.

Your photos don't look like you're running excessive camber, is it usual to wear the inside edges or is it just because they're wider than OEM? How many miles have you had out of the tyres so far?

  2. I did a quick Google and it would seem to be a Snooper SLD 950X Laser Diffuser. I guess the previous owner liked to go a little faster than maybe he should. ;)

I think that it's legal to buy and even fit them but not to turn them on. I might be wrong though.

  3. The Night Blue only became available in 2007 with the introduction of the HR engine. I'd be very surprised if you found a genuinely good one for £8k especially in the South East but I'd be happy to be proved wrong.

  4. Hmm. Im tempted to just replace the rears, even if it is a fair bit more, i think as well as sorting the slip light issue it may also fill the arch out more and make the ride height look more even, i always thought that it looked an odd angle from the side.

How wide are the wheels? I would use that as a guide as to whether it's best to replace the front tyres or the rear tyres.

  5. My contract is up too now, currently using an s5. I am out of sync with the samsung release cycle, so my choices are either an s7 / s7e or wait until April for the s8..... Then at least then i will be back on cycle.

Wouldn't a contract on an S7 now be much cheaper than getting an S8 in April? I'm thinking that being out of sync might be a good thing!

  6. Do the Nismo wheels have the cutouts on the rear so you can use 15mm bolt on spacers or are they too shallow like the GT Rays? I noticed these spacers on eBay which could be an cheap way to test them:

They're for a 350Z but I expect they'd fit a 370Z although the stud lengths might be a different length or something.

  7. As the legendary FK452 isn't available anymore I'm going to agree with valy, The Kumho Ecsta Le Sport KU39 is as cheap as I'd be happy to go. Having a different tyre on the rear will be fine until you change those to match.

  8. I've been thinking I might get a 987.2 Cayman or 997.2 in a year or two and have been keeping an eye out.

The 996 isn't really my cup of tea but I said the same about the 964 years ago and so didn't buy one, now I would love a 964 they are just way too expensive! When you see nice 996s for low prices I certainly wonder if they might be a good investment? I happened to notice this one on eBay:

  9. To be fair I've probably only done 6000 miles over those five years but I've driven in quite varied conditions including light snow and they did the job. I previously had them in 16" on an R50 Mini and they worked fine in deeper snow as well, just bear in mind that for snow use they are only good with a tread depth of 4mm or more.

At the start of April this year I swapped to new MPSS in wider 19" sizes and then we had a few colder days and I was surprised at how little traction they had. It might have been because the MPSS were too new but in cold, damp, dreary weather throughout the winter I got used to the level of confidence that the Hankooks gave me. You can even have a spirited drive and accelerate and brake as if it was a dry sunny day if you wanted to. Cornering is fun and predictable but not the same as a stiffer quality summer tyre which I felt was a fair trade off.

  10. Can you tell us which 'model' as such of the Hankook winter tyre it is?

They are Hankook Winter i*cept evo W310 although they've recently been superseded by the Winter i*cept evo2 W320 which I would expect to be even better.

  11. I've run Hankook winter tyres in standard 225/45R18 and 245/45R18 sizes for the last five winters. I've been very impressed, even just in cold weather they have noticeably better traction and braking than summer tyres. If you have to use the car all year round whatever the weather then they are a great investment.
