Ok peeps of North Norfolk and anyone else wnating to attend.
There is static car show in sheringham Norfolk on Sunday 7th June!
It's a very popular car show. All in aid of carnival fund raising.
With over 200 cars attending each year, and each year it has grown to 400 cars in 2013; from a 1929 Austin Swallow to a Ferrari 308 gts. So whether an enthusiast, owner or just on a family day out, a great day is to be had by all.
The main high street and sea front will be closed for the day in order to best display the
vehicles.
We can accommodate larger groups as well as individual cars and last year had
representations from Bentley, Ferrari, Porsche and members of the North Norfolk Classic
Vehicle Club. Also on display were MG, Mini, Jaguar, Rover, Triumph Stag, Trojan and Austin
A7.
Would be amazing if we could get a few of us there to promote not only the club but the Zed in all.
Also a chance to make the day / weekend of it with family. Beach, pubs, shops etc
Who's up for it? Add your name:
1. Gumpy
2. Madman
3. yankeesiter
Yeah, I missed this one last year. It advertises itself as a "Classic" car show but when I drove down last year in the family car, there was every kind of car, as you say.
I don't have the Zed anymore but will pop over and say hello.
So, yes, I'll be there, just before my Pyrenees trip.
-
Quite possibly we could. We are passing through Luxembourg to our stop at Metz. Depends on timing.
-
-
Ah, ok. Makes sense. I'll probably give it a miss.
-
Why a night meeting and why Yarmouth?
-
Funny, but a hell of a lot of truth there.
-
Duxford car show, this Sunday, the 3rd, is not far from you. There will be lots of Zeds from the other Zed club there. They've kindly allowed me to go although I no longer have a Zed, so if the weather is good, I'll be there.

Is that first picture in Sheringham car park?
I'd have been tempted to go to this today if I had known it was on. Probably best that I didn't though. Ticked one more job off the do-list.

We're in Nice at the moment having done the trip from Macon (331 miles) on the Route de Napoleon. We got lost twice and had a long lunch stop due to waiting for two to catch up who had got lost. In the end, it took us 11 hours. Unless you're always on autoroutes, be pessimistic about the time it takes.
-
I've got a trip to northern Italy planned for early June so was really interested to see your northern Italy route but it turns out it's all the places I'm not going!!
My route is to get from Folkestone to Basel in the first day
Very optimistic. We drove from Lille to Troyes today on mostly RN and D roads with a bit of autoroute thrown in and it took 6 hours. Mostly I drove at +10mph over.
On the autoroute you could do Basel in maybe 9 to 10 hours with minimum stoppages.
BTW, in case you thought the answer was to put your foot down a little harder, check this out.

So............where are any of the trips being offered to other 350 members ?
Think its horrid - everyone shouting out - I am off here on this road trip. that road trip.........where are the invites ?
I know there is Wales and The Lakes - not quite the same. Oh well.
Feeling grumpy - have VAT Visit - nothing that really concerns me - but how many questions !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You asked for it.

Depart Portsmouth 20th June return Santander 5th July
Booking the ferry might be difficult at this late stage but all the hotels are booked but I'm sure they're not booked up.

I'm setting off on Sunday with 6 other cars to do this:

Interestingly about the same mileage as just going to the Highlands of Scotland never mind the islands, and a lot better roads.
Pictures and a short write-up to follow.

I got £5k on a trade-in for this with 90k miles year ago last September which wasn't that great but I thought I would have trouble selling it privately at the time for various reasons. It had black upholstery and was completely standard.
Now there's someone in our village with a black one on an 04 plate that hasn't been driven all winter long, just sits outside rotting away. The discs are looking as golden as the seats. Would think about making him an offer if I ever see him but the wife would go ballistic at the idea.

2. Flex
3. Ekona

If tried to organise one of these once but the tour times and the prices even on group terms put people off.

For those of you who only read the forum at work, I'd thought I'd bump this again. Seems to good to waste;.

Apologies if this is a repost.

Imho Scotland:
- Is stunningly beautiful if the weather is nice
- Is outrageously expensive for hotels
- Has roads which are narrow, rough, humped with narrow bridges and full of sheep and or caravans and where they're none of the above, don't offer a challenge at speeds below 80mph.
The first time I went I think you could get super unleaded at Ullapool and then again at Inverness. In 2014 you could get it at Kyle of Lochalsh.
And Wendy, I think you might find it better to go to the Black Forest from Banbury. Much better roads of all types in a very confined area. You could easily enjoy a week's driving there and it may be even closer than Scotland for you.

And bringing this thread back to Topic.............................
Looking forward to the Welsh Trip and a weekend Trip to The Ring, then deciding where to take my main holiday - so many Countries to explore.
Hoping someone is organising a Europe Trip this year - need a decent Car Trip this year ..... to look forward to..........
Anyone ?????
Well, you might get on a club tour to Monte Carlo in April that I joined. I'm not sure how they are for numbers at this late date. Also a couple of us are thinking of either the Pyrenees or the Black Forest in September. PM me if interested.

Oooooo. Touchy.

Anything would look better than the OEM ones on there atm!
any plans to wring some serious performance from it?
Not really, these engines don't respond hugely well to much tuning short of a supercharger kit (£7K, and yes I've already looked!). With breathing mods and a remap you might get an extra 40bhp, but that's about your lot.
I think I'll do exhaust for some noise, springs for some stiffness, Dension for some iPod, and then maybe ARBs as well. It has the comfort seats in, so I may swap them for the sport seats (adds lumbar control) if I can find a set at the right price. Really the modding budget is going on the MR2 though, I want to try and keep this vaguely normal.
I might put a BGW on it, just for sh*ts and giggles.
UUuuummm, didn't spot anything here about clutch, flywheel and brakes.
-
Thats quite a chunk of money to throw about this soon after buying the car, but at least now it's sitting perfect for you and will only need minimal maintenance for the next few years.
I expect my first service to cost similar
Yeah, I was thinking this. Probably would have been better to get the car checked out and driven by a professional mechanic before handing over the loot.

I'm just working on the last road trip plan for September which will either be the second trip to the Pyrenees or the Black Forest.
Kicking off in April with a week club tour to Monte Carlo
May, a trip to Scotland to visit friends but taking the family car as the roads up there are nothing exciting.
June, a two week trip to the Pyrenees.
Why don't Norfolk owners want to meet?

Well hope to see two (2) of you at Sheringham on Sunday.
