  1. Cheers Josh! I think the rear is 255/35/19 (rather than 40) at the moment. I will have a look at the "standard" sizes on my door, then use the matcher as you suggested Im not fussed about spacers either, they were on when I bought it. Presumably because without them the offset would have make the wheels WELL under the arch! To me, they look like they could actually do with coming out MORE, so THICKER spacers. Haven't decided if I am changing the allows yet or not, but I don't have the cash to do anything with them yet anyway! Do the spacers to nothing at all then? I would have thought they would have given the car a (albeit only a small mount) wider foot print for better stability?
  2. I am getting REALLY confused now Gonna break it down for myself, see if I have everything right. 99% sure I have spacers on all ready. Do I need thicker ones? 95% sure I can leave my front tires as they are. 90% sure I should change my rear tires to Vredestein ULTRAC SESSANTA'S, to match the fronts. But what SIZE do I need for the back? NOT the same as the front.... ? I am new to this... someone break it down into proper dumb-ass terms for me?
  3. Yup.... that is the advice I want! What do I buy?
  4. Are these the kind of thing I want? http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?d ... htweiter=1 £170?
  5. HA HA ... Good point Front.... Rear....
  6. DO'H! (Sorry, ref to getting stuck in the mud!)
  7. Im getting that just driving about in my motor over here! Only seen three on the road since buying this one... (Usually, when you have a new car, the roads seem to be flooded with them!) And we always get stared at! Which is NOT for my exuberant driving style, as the last week or so I have been on a mission to get 30mpg on my display (only on 28.7 at the mo) Feel like a super star! Or it could be due to me looking 21 and driving a nice motor.... Which is 10(ish) years less that I am!
  8. hmmm... Let me think ... what would I prefer to go camping in? The Zed... or a Civic?
  9. I can take as many piccys as you need What should I take a photo of?
  10. But there is nothing I can do for "fix" the head unit... ? It is just knackered?
  11. Some good advice Different size rolling radius? How does the spare work then?
  12. So I have my new car... my first RWD motor But I think my wheels/tyres could do with a little more oophf. When I bought the car two weeks ago it had... http://www.madmotors.co.uk/alloy-wheels ... tyres.html Front: Vredestien Ultrac - Sessanta 225 - 40 ZR19 Rear: Avon - ZZ3 - 255/35/R19 Can people give me some advice? 1. I think that the fronts re OK, no real wear on them and as they are Vredestien's I think I will keep them. 2. What SIZE tire do I need? A few peeps have said I need a different over all radius on the back to the front... 3. If I can't get hold of the Vredestien's for the back for a week or so, would it be safer for me to switch the fronts and backs round? Any advice would be great (Cheers to Demolition49, Captain and Husky for the advice so far)
  13. Cheers guys ... might start a new thread for the tires
  14. Bet you were NOT the only one doing that... Bet all the other campers in their estate cars... were also staring at it .... but just with jealousy rather than pride.
  15. So the Vredestiens are the best? HA HA ... another vote for the Veredestines! The wheels were on here when I bought her. http://www.madmotors.co.uk/alloy-wheels ... tyres.html Not exactly my cup of tea.... but I think they look OK on the car. May change them in the future but for now I am happy to use them. But it sounds like I need to replace the rear tires! Maybe I should find an empty car park, turn off the TCS and have a little play with them first, BEFORE swapping them off Can anyone tell me why they are different sizes front to back? i.e. the larger 40 on the front? I presume I should go for 225/40/19's on the rear to match the front?
  16. That is good to know! And could you see out of the Rear window at all?
  17. Short on cash due to the newly purchase-ness of the car unfortunately. Look good though. I took a lovely Pioneer out of my old car before I sold it. Had an iPod connector and you controlled it /viewed it using the head unit. But as it was single DIN, I eBayed it and put the cash towards the Zed I think I can just about deal with only being about to listen to a V6 for the time being
  18. HA HA ... we were only talkign about going camping the other day! Saving some cash rather than going abroad, as all my cash has just gone on the Zed And we said "Kind of a pain we will have to go camping in the A3" (Which is still a great car) rather than the Zed. but I recon it is MORE than do-able now! Yeah, always wondered about taking the spare wheel out. Cars are coming more and more with foam cans rather than spares. And I have never needed to use my spare wheel when I have been out and about before... Although now I have said that... I will now!
  19. That could be one of my issues.... I have "odd" tires on at the moment... Could be ditch finders I suppose. They should really be the first thing I change I suppose. When I say "odd" I mean odd front and rear. I don't know much about tires. Last time I bought "performance" ones, they were A5120's! Are these any good? Front: Vredestien Ultrac - Sessanta 225 - 40 ZR19 Rear: Avon ZZ3 255/35/R19 (Seem to look like a budget tire?) Should I replace my rears? Fronts? Both?
  20. I appreciate that Captain. I think that because the FIRST day I had it... I came off a round about, in the wet and was just a little over-enthusiastic..... The back end twitched slightly, as if to wagg on finger at me and say "Now, I wouldn't do that if I were you" ... Kind of like a girly safety net. Which I am happy with for now. I understand what you are saying... just think I need to get used to the way a RWD car works first... THEN take away the safety net
  21. HA HA ... yup. Had a LOAD of stuff to be posted which I sold on eBay (to help PAY for the car).... Thought I was going to have to do at least TWO trips to the Post Office. But I put ALL the parcels in (three or four BIG ones) without needing to use the front seat. Took me FOUR trips to the PO FROM the car to take them all in! I know there are restrictions with the strut brace... but if you can work round it, the boot is cavernous! Just gotta get a baby seat that fits to a roof rack for it... and I will NEVER have to sell her!
  22. Can't believe how big the boot is! Well chuffed
  23. Something tells me that is NEVER coming off.... Although I AM interested in having a little bit of a play somewhere with a little drift/tail slide. Somewhere SAFE... where the mistakes I WILL make wont matter.... Where do people go for something like that? To learn? (Other than a go-kart track in a go-kart!)
  24. Had a search and I can't find anything like this.... (Although I am sure there will be there is lots about it on here somewhere) Been nearly two weeks... and yes the car DOES sound gorgeous... but I am going to do a few miles in it this week, so I thought I would fill up the in dash 6-CD changer... Works perfectly when the engine isn't running or it is running but just sat on the drive. but if she is moving... they either don't play at all ... or play 1-2 seconds followed by a gap of 10-12 seconds. Gotta be down to the changer not being anti-shake? Anything I can do about this in a 7 year old car that isn't under warranty? (Other than buying a new head unit)
