That was my understanding too.......however, I don't know of any rule saying that a country that quits The EU cannot rejoin it at a (much) later date. I wasn't in the least bit surprised by the announcement, I've expected this ever since she became Prime Minister despite her previous denials. I expect a 150 seat majority for the Cons, The Lib Dems to make a partial comeback 25 seats or so, UKIP to go down the plughole and Jeremy Corbyn to remain Labour leader. There may well be a split in The Labour party with some MP's defecting to the Lib Dems. I think she may have missed a trick by not holding the election on the same day as the local elections as they would probably have won a shedload of local councils too but let's see.

There was a news story recently where there was outrage at them all being in dock being repaired or something along those lines...

The Americans have 14 Trident style subs and they always have at least 3 and sometimes as many as 8 on patrol at any time. The Americans also have free fall nukes, the ability to mount nuclear warheads on Tomahawk cruise missiles plus the 450 or so Minuteman missiles in, Wyoming, North Dakota and Montana.

I've only ever seen 2 of my previous cars, one of my Datsun Cherry's and one of my Capri 2.8i's. My dad had one of the early minis (1960) from new until 1964 and I used to see it in Chester fairly frequently until the mid 1980's

Might be worth sticking them on E-Bay. Back in 2003 I advertised my entire collection of Autosport magazines 1968-1992 with maybe 6 missing. I would have been pleased with a tenner but bidding went crazy and I finished up getting £150 and collected .

Sadly, there are more and more separatist movements popping up all over the world. I found this map of what Europe would look like if they all got their way. Obviously a lot of these movements have little support but some have quite strong support, like in poor old Spain which would finish up being split into multiple countries. Oh, and this map doesn't cover The Shetland Islands returning to Norway, I wonder if an independent Scotland would allow the Shetland Islanders to have a referendum on this and lose all the oilfields around The Shetlands .

When I press the brake pedal, the front side lights come on, any ideas on how to fix this?

 

I'm guessing it's some earthing issue? If so where would I find these?

 

Could this issue also be causing my one brake light to be intermittent? They are LeD on the rear

I had exactly the same issue on a brand new mini I owned in the 70's. The main dealer was unable to fix it and sent it to an auto electrician who discovered that one of the bulbs was faulty. It was a long time ago so I don't remember if it was a sidelight bulb or one of the brake light bulbs.

I was just talking about this today at work!

When he braked all the front of the car lit up. spent hours looking for the fault and it turned out to be the dual filament bulb, the bit that lights when the brakes is applied had broken and fallen onto the other filament still completing the circuit but causing the weird fault.

Hope this fix is as simple as that, worth a check

My personal experience is that you can scratch the black coating off the HR plastics with little more than flirtatious look. Can't do that on my DE.

Yes, my prefacelift doesn't have a single mark on the drivers door panel, Caroline's HR was covered in scratches and was quite unsightly. One member came to my house in an 06 facelift in which about 90% of the plastic had been scratched off. Other than that though the HR was a better car although I believe the interior update is vastly overrated and did little to enhance the car, an improvement from 5/10 to 5.5/10 I'd say.

They were an option on all U.S cars except Solar Orange, (Temper Orange to us) from the facelift days, looks like 2005/6 onwards. According to R35LEE in an archived post from 2012 they were an option on all colours on The HR but I've been unable to locate a brochure online to confirm this. Graham has probably seen the same 3 Midnight's as me and the only other ones I know of, advertised on here, Piston Heads or Autotrader have also been Midnight's, maybe another 7 or 8 in total. Anyway, they are certainly ultra rare here but looking at some of the U.S forums are fairly common over there.

That leaves us with a 9-1 ratio of alezan to frost and a total HR frost combo at about 2%.

Only around 1,100 HR's were sold in the U.K so somewhere around 20-25 if you use that ratio.

We sold her roadster last week, mainly because we needed something more practical and something a bit cheaper to run. We'd had the roadster for 6 and a half years and it was really sad to see it driving away. Anyway, Caroline had her sights set on a Nissan Juke and our local dealer had several in stock. We settled for a 2013 N-Tec model in white with just 10,000 miles on the clock. Wouldn't have been my choice but after driving it for a while I have to say that it's not that bad and we can at last take our granddaughter out without having to take both cars. Filled her up earlier today for just £40 and no need to worry about 98 RON fuel any more. I'll get some photos up soon

So the Scottish government have voted to request another referendum, obviously TM can refuse and probably will but whats folks thoughts?

Yes, once we have the Brexit thing well out of the way, I don't see any reason why a second referendum can't be held. If Scotland votes Yes to independence and then joins The EU there will be major ramifications for both Scotland and those of us South of The Border. This may be considered scaremongering by some but I don't see how 2 countries, one a member of The EU with free movement and the other a non member with a policy that restricts immigration can possibly have an open border as it does now (same for Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland) . If someone thinks an open border can exist then please explain how it'll work. On the other hand, Scotland may after some consideration not want to join The EU so that problem would go away. This and many other factors makes the situation really complex and before Scotland has another vote they need to think things through and debate the issues to death thoroughly. For example England/Wales/NI are by far Scotland's largest market (75%) but as a member of The EU they would have to accept whatever deal (or no deal) is agreed between The UK and The EU....anyway, once we've seen the deal and seen it at work for a few years then the people of Scotland can all have a debate and finally another referendum, 2021 or 2022 maybe?

Drove up Pikes Peak a few years ago, altitude 4,302 m. Had a wander around outside and discovered there was an Oxygen tent inside the visitor centre . Only stayed an hour so no ill effects, no breathing difficulties. Would have stayed longer but there was a foot of snow on the ground and I only had a T-Shirt and shorts on. I think there's a small glacier near the top of Kilimanjaro, so I reckon its pretty cold up there too .

I'm yet to do a full half and would expect to do a flat one in about 2:00 - there are no "flat" halfs where I live, in fact there's no flat anything

my furthest to date is 11 miles, so don't expect to have any major difficulties getting through it

My first half marathon in Chester 1983 took me 2 hours 3 minutes, I was totally unprepared and struggled to walk for a week afterwards. My next half marathon I ran in 1:41 and I finished just in front of Jimmy Saville who must have been well into his 60's at the time. I started training for that in October 1986 with the race being in May 1987. By the end of 1987 I'd got down to 1:27:10 and 39:30 for 10k . In my favor I had a resting pulse rate (in the low 30's!) that would have the envy of most elite athletes but against me was my lung capacity which was pretty average TBH. My training methods were rather primitive too, never did any speed work, rarely did any runs over 10 miles and despite my good intentions to vary the pace on training runs I always finished up running at race pace.

I wasn't bothered about the flatness of any of the races I ran, from flat to hilly to mountainous my half marathon time only varied by 3 or 4 minutes, I was crap at going uphill but an absolute demon on the downhills . Sadly, constant injuries curtailed my running days
