The police seem to have a number of leads and as my car wasn't the only car damaged that hopefully means they have a decent amount of evidence to get someone. To be honest it's down to a quick thinking neighbour hearing what was going on and calling the police so quickly that they have managed to get on to things straight away. I live right in the centre of town and unfortunately we don't have a drive or a garage. There is residents parking which is what I use, sometimes outside the house, sometimes along the road a bit, depending where I can find a space. I'm going to look in to renting a garage if I can find one near and which isn't stupidly expensive.

Thanks mate, I'm sure I can get it sorted ok, it just not what you need is it. The spoiler is totally knackered so first things first is to check with the traders on here and see where I can get a replacement from. *bloody students*

Cheers mate, that would be much appreciated. I have to get 3 quotes for the work, so if you or the guys know somewhere good, point me in their direction. I'm not too concerned about the money side I just want to find somebody that's going to do an A1 job. I am going to see one guy on Friday if I can but suggestions for any other places are more than welcome. And thanks to everyone who's posted and understands the how pi**ed off I am about this

Cheers for that Choptop, as per usual the Insurance company have their preferred body shops. Any info on places near you that you'd trust to do the work wouldbe great.

I agree mate, it's about people having to take responsibility for their actions and accepting the consequences. In an ideal world that should then be followed by provision of opportunities for people to make amends. Allowing them to learn something from their indiscretions so that they don't take a similar course in the future and society benefits as a whole. Or is that a stupid idea?

I think you're right mate, few beers too many, someone has a bright idea, ends up costing me a half a dozen other folks a load of time and money. If the Police believe they have a firm case I will make sure I indicate that I want a compensation award for the damage caused to be considerd . I may not see any of it but its the principle of it at the very least.

Cricket Bat + Face = A sense that justice has been served

Got the card mate, at least that put a smile on me face Just have to get the quotes for the work and get on with it now really. Just hope I can get a decent replacement spoiler and get the roof sorted.
-
Yep, I'm not holding my breath for any compensation coming my way. If they are unemployed or of they are students the chances are they won't be able to pay for it, maybe they will pay £1 a week for 10 years or something stupid. I don't want to have to pay anything for it, and I don't feel that I should. However the money side causes me less worry than the stupidity and selfishness of it. The hassle of having to try an get quotes, talk to the Police, talk to the insurance company (who have also been pretty good so far) and all the rest of is what frustrates me.

I was talking to some of the guys at the Piston Heads meet in Cheddar about trying to get some garaging, but It's bloody expensive here. I think I mentioned something about it being a couple of hundred quid a week but I meant per month. I think I'll have to investigate getting one, as I don't want to get this all fixed up then have the same thing happen again a few weeks later.

The Police have been really good to be honest. They have, shall we say, some avenues of enquiry that they are following. So fingers crossed
-
Indeed, I had considered the option of tracking them down and shooting their face, in the face. Sadly I think that kind of behaviour is also frowned upon in polite society ( I wouldn't take that course of action or advise anyone else to either of course)

- Fixed Know what you mean though, someone keyed my car all the way a long one side, some people just don't give a crap about other people's property. Hope it's not too much to get sorted out. Thanks for fixing that, you're right, it is my pride and joy

Got home from the Cheddar Pistonheads meet on Sunday (great day, really good to meet folks again ) and parked the car up, went for dinner with the better half and had a very chilled out rest of the day. Worked from home Monday and Tuesday but I needed to go see the Doc late Tuesday afternoon. Went to go get the car and discovered the minor cracking problem in my N1 spoiler had gone from this: To this Looks like some 'oiks' ran along a whole line of cars, left a right trail of damage, early Monday morning. Fortunately someone spotted them and call the Police. I've been down to see the Soco folks today and they've worked their magic on it so now its a case of waiting to see what happens with the evidence they've collected. They've gone up the bonnet and over the roof, leaving two fair dents and it almost looks like the roof has 'rippled', on to the spoiler and off. To say I am displeased is somewhat of an understatement. I know it's 'only a car' but when you've invested time and money looking after something and this happens it's very annoying. Still the Police have been really good so far and it looks like things are moving along. Now I have to go get some quotes for getting the roof done and spoiler sorted. What a pain in the a*se

Fantastic pictures guys, really shows what a variety of cars there were. Will see if I can post some up a bit later.

Welcome aboard Tom, get some pics of your Zed up

Lovely looking Sunset Matt, very nice, welcome aboard

Thanks for the advice rtbiscuit, I just want to make sure I get the best possible fix for it.

You're probably not far from the truth mate unfortunately. I'll see if I can get some of the Sun Cure, no harm in assessing how that will do. Think I might also pop to a local bodyshop or two as srobrien suggested, as it's worth me getting a feel for what a proper fix will cost. Thanks guys
-
Cheers Mike, I've been having a real good search since I spotted it on Sunday. I thought the Sun Cure you mentioned might be a good start. I've found a few step by step guides like the one you posted, so that gives me a good idea of what's involved. To be honest mate It was sat for a week while we were away holiday and I didn't notice it before then so maybe somebody has pulled it or grabbed it.
-
I think you're probably right, that might be what I'll have to end up doing. I was considering whether I could use something like Sun Cure Fiberfill initially and see if that prevented it getting any worse prior to getting it in to the body shop

Ok guys, I need a bit of advice I discovered a crack in my N1 spoiler at the base where it's mounted on the boot. It's not particularly bad but I want to do what I can to stop it spreading or getting worse. I guess I need to find some kind of resin or something similar to do the job. Is there's anything out there which you guys can recommend I use to fix it?

New member Here. 2 days until I collect my Zed

Welcome aboard Greavsie, although I have a Chilli, I do think the 'Sunburst' is lovely If the weather is is really poor on the way back home from picking the car up, please, please, please take it steady. I'd leave the traction control on and drive it nice and smooth as the Zed can be a bit twitchy in the wet, especially on the roundabouts. Be great if you can make the Cheddar meet, there's quite a few of us going and it'll give you a good chance to ask a whole load of questions about Zed stuff -
Mmm Matt. that is a lovely looking 370 Welcome aboard and good for you on getting on the Wales run. Work scuppered my last minute plans to go on that this year, pretty sure you'll have a great time
