  1. lovely looking Zed, she looks in fantastic condition
  2. Lovely 04 plate Azure went past me just after 8am this morning as I was queuing to get off the M4 on to the M5 at Bristol. You headed North toward Gloucester and the Midlands
  3. Ok, so I took her back to the independent dealer I got her from and asked them to sort out the O2 sensors. Made it clear I was happy for them to take em out and clean them if they could (she's done 67K) and if that sorted the engine warning light all well and good. I did also make it clear that if they couldn't sort the problem I would expect the sensors to be replaced. So I gave them 3-4 hours to take a look and sort the issue and when I go back and pick her up all seems fine, the warning light doesn't appear, they've taken her for a run, stopped and started her a number of times, checked the ECU codes and all is good and off home I scooted. Nice to get the issue sorted, although I will keep my eyes on it.
  4. she's lovely Just bought my red Zed a couple of weeks ago, great colour. You've got a lot of fun ahead of you
  5. Ok, as a follow up I thought I better let everyone know how I got on getting across to the Isle of Wight. Friday: Decided to go by Red Funnel in the end as its easiest and quickest to get to for us. Got there to get onboard the 19:30 ferry across to East Cowes and got lined up with everyone else. As they called us forward I was relieved that we got directed to the lower deck and so we drifted down to the ramp, took it nice and steady and got on no problems at all. Got to East Cowes about and hour later and again rolled off, nice and steady, without any issues. Surprised at how easy it was to get on and off without any problems. Saturday: Time to come home and we get down to East Cowes in time to get the 18:00 ferry back to Southampton. Get called forward and I'm expecting to get put on the lower deck again but get directed to the upper deck taking the ramp. I guess I should have refused and told the guy directing us on I was only going to get on the lower deck, anyway, I didn't and nervously I headed up the ramp. Took it very steady and managed to get up and on to the upper deck no problems, which I have to say was a relief. I had got up there ok but was a bit concerned if I would get off the ramp from the top deck back at Southampton. I spoke to a couple of the deck guys and raised my concerns and they were pretty good, said they were a bit surpised I'd been sent on to the upper deck but they'd keep their eyes open for me as I went down the ramp at Southampton. A slightly nervous ferry ride back to the mainland followed not helped by the appalling weather. Docked in Southampton and then came the test. The first part of the ramp down is pretty easy but it it has a tight bend halfway, took it nice and slow there and managed to get round that bend ok on to the final ramp down to the ground.I have to say I was a bit nervous of grounding the front but again took it very slow and steady and managed to get off the ramp without any problems. So there you have it, seems to prove that I can get on and off the lower and upper decks of the Red Funnel from Southampton / East Cowes without any major issues in my stock height Zed if I'm careful. Nice to have the Red Funnel deck chaps advice and eyes open for any problems though.
  6. Welcome Loads of really friendly people here and stacks of information
  7. Welcome Charles Might see you around as Bath is my hometown
  8. Mmm she's lovely looking, welcome to the forum
  9. Welcome Ian, Hope everything goes ok with picking up the car today.
  10. I'll let you know Lovely stuff, thanks very much
  11. Thanks for the replies guys. My Zed is stock height with no mods, it's pretty bog standard to be honest, so I'm hoping I won't have any problems! It'll be interesting to get your views on how things look with NorfolkLine when you start with them on Wednesday Lexx (hope you have a good first day!)
  12. Guys, just discovered this thread. I'm off to the Isle of Wight next weekend with my Zed and I've a few concerns about getting on/off the ferry. Prior to having the Zed we've always taken Red Funnel across from Southampton but I'm now thinking this might not be a good idea. Which ferry is the best option to avoid scrapping the front or exhaust of the car? It sounds like Portsmouth/Fishbourne or Lymington/Yarmouth? I would like to take the Zed over there but, to be honest, if there's any risk of getting a scrape or a knock I think we'll take the better half's car. Any advice or experiences will be gratefully received and taken note of Cheers
  13. Hi andlid, I think maybe you're right, regards the 'dirt' on the sensors. Might be they just need a damn good clean rather than replacing.
  14. Ok, well the check engine light came on again yesterday morning. I drove in to work no issues and had no problems with the car, she ran just fine. Before I left work last night I went through the old manual ECU reset (ignition, pedal, wait, pedal etc) and that worked a treat. The CEL cleared and I scooted off home without any issues. However I fired her up again this morning and the old CEL light was there again. I'm guessing I need to find myself a decent Zed specialist in Somerset somewhere and get them to take a look at it.
  15. Thanks for the reply I'm based in the South West, but I don't know if there are any Zed specialists near me. Luckily Alex was on the case and has responded to my post as well. I'm going to see how it goes over the next few days I think. I don't mind spending money to make sure she is looked after but I certainly don't want to pay over the odds. She seems to be running fine though, no nasty sounds, engine appears nice and smooth, no other issues of any kind. Guess I just need to see how things go over the coming week. Might try the old DIY ECU reset process if the warning light appears again and stays on.
  16. Hi Alex, many thanks for your response. I was surprised that all of them could have failed at the same time, so I think it probably is a little gremlin of some kind. I think I'll monitor the situation for a few days and see what happens. My main concern is driving her about when perhaps I may be doing her some harm or just making a problem (which I should probably get sorted) much worse. Thanks also for the nod on the price of the replacement sensors. If I end up needing them I'll pick your brains again if that's ok?
  17. Hi Guys, I picked up my Zed this Friday just gone and to say I am extremely happy with her is an understatement. However; I did get an engine check light appear on Saturday morning so I whipped her in to a local Nissan dealer so they could take a look. They very kindly ran a check on her and this is what the report came back with: DTC RESULTS.............................TIME HO2S1 HTR (B1)............................0 (P0031) HO2S1 HTR (B2)............................0 (P0051) HO2S2 HTR (B1)............................0 (P0037) HO2S2 HTR (B2)............................0 (P0057) Now this is clearly some kind of issue related to the o2 sensors, which is ok, because at least I know what it is. The chap in the garage said that the car seemed to be running fine without any other errors. He also indicated that if the car had been parked with its tail against a wall or bush, or even close to another parked car this could sometimes trigger the warning light to appear as the flow of Oxygen around the exhaust wouldn't be as free. He also said that the really wet heavy weather we had been experiencing could also have been a contributory factor He indicated that if the problem persisted it would be worth getting it fully checked out and that a replacement o2 sensor would be about £190 each if required So that all sounds ok and I am going to monitor things to see if the light re-appears. However; what I'm most concerned about it what kind of issue I could encounter if I run the car with this kind of problem, other than crappy fuel economy, prior to taking the car in to get the o2 sensors checked or replaced? Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about the best way to handle this issue? Thanks
  18. Got home in one piece although I have to admit it wasn't the most relaxing drive back. Wind, rain, bits of tree all over the place, certainly kept it interesting. Anyway, she's parked up safe and sound and I'm just enjoying a beer. I'm positive I've made the right choice buying her, despite the less than ideal driving conditions on the way home, I do have a bloomin great big smile on me face. Many thanks for all the welcomes guys
  19. Thanks, I am going to take it nice and easy. I'll have to get me a Stubby, its on the list along with Poor Boys or Gliptones Leather treatment and probably a whole host of other stuff I am going to find ways of spending me pennies on!
  20. Thanks, think I'll be doing a bit of a "Driving Miss Daisy" approach today
  21. Thanks for the welcome everyone Home for me is Bath, city of Georgian splendour, high culture, residents parking permits, limited spaces and extremely keen traffic wardens I think I'll be taking it nice and easy out there today, just going to pootle around a bit until I get confident with how she handles. Cribbs Causeway is really easy to get to from here so that could be do-able. Don't know about you folks but work have got me with my nose right against the grindstone at the mo. If work and other commitments allow I'll certainly get there.
  22. Morning all, Been browsing the forum for a while, picking up hints and tips all over the site, and finally taken the plunge to buy my first 350Z. Better say a thank you to all the members who's posts I've been reading, which have proved to be really helpful She's a 2003 import that I'm due to pick up this afternoon. Think I'll be taking it steady on the way home though as it's chucking it down here in the south west! Anyway, hoping to be able to pick everyone's brains and learn how to really take care of her. Cheers
