  1. Sorry if this is repeated loads but I just wanted to post in case it helps someone. My wife's Roadster randomly wouldn't start after a short drive. The steering lock wasn't engaged so I could move the wheel but it had the orange key light stuck on and wouldn't start. I read about someone trying to hit the lock to release it, so though I'd try this as I figured the mechanical part wasn't doing something that was causing the electrical signal issue. I tried it on my own but had no luck, so called out the AA. The AA guy that had come out was great, tried another trick he'd learnt with the same or a similar fault with other Nissans, but it didn't work. I told him about what I'd tried and he said we could have another go, him hitting and me on the button. He did the hammer hits on the steering lock while I tapped the start button multiple times to try and get it on. After a few tries, BOOM, it's got power, in ACC (ON) and a "quick" removal of the steering lock fuse and it was working again as it should. Needless to say, my wife and I were really pleased at avoiding recovery and a massive bill. I will be pulling the fuse on mine over the weekend........
  2. @pintopete58 and @AndersFTM thank you for the replies and messages. I hope it's not too crazy expensive.....
  3. Hi All, I've checked all over and can only find one reference to hoodtech in Chester. Has anyone else with a 370z roadster had any dealings with them or any other convertible roof specialists that they'd recommend? I've emailed Abbey where I usually take my car, so will see what they say as well. Cheers in advance for any info.
  4. Any updates on this? My Wife's 370z roadster hood is playing up.

  7. Late post, but what a great meet. Top work @davey_83 and everyone who turned up : )
  8. Not been on for a while, crazy busy, not helped by some scrotes breaking into my unit at the start of the year. Anyway, I'll be coming and so with my wife, and we'll be in both the Zeds : ) Looking forward to it : )
  9. Late 60's Camaro SS hard top but pimped, modern running gear and a modern charged V8. Oooofff : )

    R8 would you?

I tried loads of stuff including the R8 when I nearly sold me Z. I ended up just supercharging and modding, if I had deeper pockets I'd probably have gone with a V10 one. I can't honestly say there's anything wrong with anything anyone has mentioned, all great cars, I looked at Lotus Evora and Exige but the Exige felt a bit too track focused and almost flimsy. I guess at the end of the day, it just depends what you like as long as you get out, walk away, turn back and smile, it doesn't matter what the badge is on it.
  11. Looks cool but I actually use my CD player : )

    Auto vs Manual

I've got to agree with @docwra @Umster, I can't imagine drifting with an auto, I know everyone says you can reprogram/remap auto boxes but the only experience I've had of them just on track was awful. Manual for the Win IMO
  13. Glad she's home at last, took a bit of time though, who recovered it for you?
  14. Holy @*!#, I can't believe you sold the Z. The future project S 15 sounds fun though : ) Have fun.
  15. PS. If you look carefully, you'll notice my wife was driving as well, we did half the sessions each : )
  16. So, i started to @*!# it a bit about making too much noise for the track day. A quick trip to a great local guy, https://www.facebook.com/blmotorsportfabrications, and I had a new centre pipe with a baffle section. Then @*!# it that I'd mess up the tune, all a just a few days before the track day. Thankfully Mark @Abbey Motorsport was on the case at a moments notice (and on his birthday) with some remote tuning tweaks and a couple of logging sessions. We drove to Mallory, did 20 minutes every hour, we were in groups not open pit lane, and she ran faultlessly all day. the TR1 toyos were fine, still plenty of life in them. There's not quite enough bite on the brakes, but this might be pad compound rather than the brakes, so I'm looking at options, but we were going round close to a minute, and able to have some fun, not racing, with a GT86, some of the Caterhams and a nice Golf GTI. We only really got toasted by a 600hp Audi S3 and a stripped out, caged Clio on track rubber.
  17. Thank you, it's so much fun to drive, I'm glad we saved it rather than scrapping it. If he messages me I'll send him my number if he wants a chat, we've had this one for over 12 years now and I did so much research for the build, parts source etc.. I've found a company now that might be making a drop in adjustable rear cross-member kit with way more adjustment than stock, should be good for these and the Z31.
  18. Any excuse to post up a pick of the S12. This one is from Modified Nationals at peterborough the other weekend
  19. Got lots of interest at Santa Pod : )
  20. Hopefully I'll see a few of you there tomorrow. I've got matching wheels front and rear now : )
  21. Don't get a Nissan Mainstealer to do it, go to a specialist, I take mine to Abbey Motorsport in Oxted from Leicester. If it's already been done, there should be some paperwork from a previous owner. I just notice you mentioned an exhaust, is that with stock CATs? I'm pretty sure if you've gone with HFCs or test pipes, you're supposed to get a remap as well for it to run right?
  22. Random guesses: Have you checked fluid levels on everything? Brake fluid being low can cause odd behaviour. Have you had the oil gallery gaskets done? If I understand correctly, this can lead to the variable valve timing system not working correctly, could that have this effect?
  23. Wow, this is such and incredible build. Love it.
