thats the thing, ive got got any major experince either just do what i can and learn as i go i did ask the body shop guys and they said dont do it...
-
yeah does look good, think id do if if my car was painted satin and i could touch it up easily, slightly unsure now as i was hoping you were gonna say it hasnt cracked lol as for fit did you mean the gaps around the edges? i only just held it in place to take the pics, but from the photos on google most do have a bit of a gap around the edges like mine?
-
Andy ive had a quick read of your thread and admitadly yout spoiler does look the tits smoothed in, what are the issues like about cracking? i was advised never to smooth fibreglass into metal especailly on a boot lid as the vibrations from opens ing closing it would crack it fairly quickly? have you had any issues? did you just back the edges with P38? very interested as i may think **** it and see how it goes...

yeah all the wiper ass is removed as is the counter weight, had a bung in it for a month or to now, all that will be smoothed off, got to the bodyshop today and no-body was there! went to work and foned him at 10.00, in my wisdom ive booked the car in next week.... not this week...what a knob.... so ill have to put stickers over the holes... what you cant see is that the spoiler is double skinned on the bottom aswell, so after the pics were taken i trimmed the inside of the spoiler out (the base that you wont ever see) and it fits alot better now, atleast with the body shop dates mess up ill be able to do final adjustments on it and send it with the car

it just seems to safe with the nismo, i wanna be a little differant, may keep the nismo just to make sure i made the right choice i dont beleive so, but for what i paid and how well if fits im not complaining, cheers

ive got a gear knob, came off my car after 30,000 miles so very good nick, dunno how much its worth?
-
ive got that nervous feeling that the nismo mite have grown on me a bit too much, depinatly down to personal taste tho, think one of the reasons i like the ings so much is because its differant, and as an added bonus ill be able to see a little more in the rear view mirror
-
finally tonight i have managed to make my boot lid stay open with-out the help of a broom handle!!!! my car looking kinda clean... boot lid open...whooo!!! boot lid closed...notice anything differant lol... my spoiler fell off... when i bought my car 3 months ago it had a nismo spoiler on it, to start with i hated it but then kinda learnt to love it, now my ings spoiler arrived a couple weeks ago from jap land and to keep bodyshop costs down i removed the old spoiler myself... not as easy as it sounds as some kind soul tiger sealed it down... came off kinda in one peice just a couple of cracks i really hate how it looks now without a spoiler, this look is not for me.... test fit of the ings spoiler... not bad but not perfect... bit of work to do, ill adjust the spoiler myself then send it to the bodyshop in a week or so but the car itself is going in tomorrow!!! for a smoother front bumper and a smoothed de-wiperd and de-holed boot lid... cant wait!

youve found a custom exhaust place that will swap your 2.5" system for a 3" system for free just because you feel like a change? i dont think so...

definatly go for a switch rather than pulling fuses, cud even put it in the cubby hole behind the seat do you live in a really rought area or are you just parnoid about having a nice car? lol i live in a really good area and still wouldnt leave it anywhere lol, and has anyone else actually done anything like this to their cars? and i would definatly get an alarm installer to do the mod incase someting cocks up...

mugging you off a bit there? autoglass are very expensive but they came out to my workplace and did it owtside (couple of months ago while the weatehr was good) took the guy an hour max!
-
come on people any ideas, people are willing to say it looks crap once its done but how about some constructive ideas first...
-
but the warranty only lasts as long as you personally own the car, most people would rather have a nismo, fubjisubo, mongoose ect over a custom jobbie from a franchise, i kinda get what your sayin tho, be good to hear it once its done
-
sounds good, i hang owt in bury quite a bit, theres a few of us about the with Z's subzero and TC, be good to sort something out
-
yeah, i bought it off srobrien after he broke it getting into his garage?, from rubbing it don it looks to have had a couple of coats of paint lol, yeah it is an original Greddy one, why so many owners? what do people not like about it?

as you can see the ends have been but down the smoothed the corners off heres a pic of it back in one peice, and one with just the sanding on the front to do, im gonna put a layer or two of glass fibre sheet on the back to make it extra strong but cant do that till im back at work, already had enuff aggro for fibreglass in the house as the grage is too cold, made the whole house stink christmas eve lol

right, got this lip from another member as it was cracked clean in half, ive had quite a bit of experiance with fibreglass in the past so decided to give it a go... only problem is im not sure i like the lip....all the pics ive seen of it, i just dont think it looks quite right? anyway i decided the main thing i didnt like was how far it came up at the ends so decided to shorten it a bit... the once both ends matched perfectly i joined the spoiler back together, using a few techniques that held my drift car bumpers together... and now its looking good, cars goin to the bodyshop on 4th of jan for my new spoiler, unsure if i can afford to get this painted at the same time but we'll have to se later heres some pics: as you can see it was a very nice break, made joining the parts back together very easy and could see it had been repared before with what looked like a plastic ruler? anyway, it wasnt quite man enough for the job as it split again, after it cleaned all the previuos repair work off, i keyed up the area and cleaned evrythign with carb cleaner, the used fibreglass filler to attatch a metal brace to the smaller part of the splitter after id left it to dry over night i held the two peices in place and marked some dots either side and drilled some holes, the cable tied the two halves together, the shape of the crack really helped to get the position and angles right, once i was happy with it, i fibreglasses under the metal brace and over the top of it... then once that was dry i cut the cable ties off and used a soldering iron to melt the end of the cable ties to fill the holes, then i fibreglassed another metal brace to the front of the spoiler fo extra surpport, im very happy with it so far and fingers crossed it wont break again... then the next morning gave the front a bit of a snad and a quick skim of filler... looking really good now, ive test fitted in to the car to make sure nothing had moved and it fits perfectly just got to finish off a bit of sanding to the front then it just needs painting i was just wondering if people think i should now leave it as is or if I should alter it anymore? and if so what?

i can tell is those nuts have the swivel tpye head but if not you need a special socket that cuts into the side of the nut, ive got one at work if you were closer but most competant mechanics will have one
-
i found these on ebay earlyer and was kinda hoping no-one would spot them lol
-
theres a thread on here if you need some tips on getting the nut off, it from a VW site tho ... lol
