  1. For a straight head unit swap, yeah it looks like you're good to go
  2. If you're fitting an alpine head unit, don't you need the alpine remote cable for the steering wheel control unit? http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/fitting_ ... ml?cat=659
  3. I noticed you're looking at .com.au, so the Australian regional site for Bridgestone. It looks like the availability of the 245/45/18 size is a regional issue. Here is the size chart from the euro site, which includes the 245/45 size for the rears... http://www.bridgestone.eu/bfe/lineup-pr ... xt@1b11ea4 The RE050 was even the standard fit tyre on newer zeds.
  4. I was driving in to Exeter, must have been around 12:45, coming in through Heavitree where there is a hand car wash place. I glanced over and was surprised to see a black 350z getting washed! I was driving my own black zed at the time.

    My Zed

It's a nice thought, but it hasn't left the drive since being cleaned earlier! The roads around here are too dirty

    My Zed

Glad you appreciate the photo folks, and I hope it inspires you to clean your zeds too! Smudge, I'm afraid my girlfriend's Pug 206 GTi 180 is next in line here so you'll have to do your own I was glad to get a photo though, I really love the look of this car. Even compared to a lot of exotics I think the 350Z is one of the best looking cars on the road

    My Zed

Been out washing and cleaning, especially cleaning the new Vred's which were covered in white gunk, so I thought I'd grab a quick photo before it gets dirty again! For all of you that appreciate a nice black Zed
  8. I kind of agree, but to be fair its a forum and what you're always going to get on a forum is opinions. At least nobody here is making the mistake of passing off their opinions as facts! To add my bit... I've seen figures of 5.5s to 6s quoted for the 0-60mph time and my ass-dyno is more inclined to believe its 6s. I believe it was marketed as 5.9s originally but its very difficult to verify. Besides, your car might not match the "official" figure anyway. I'd go with "about 6 seconds", then you won't be wildly wrong I've no idea what the top end would be if the car were unlimited, I doubt anyone does. I couldn't even confirm that my zed actually reaches the limited speed of 155mph!
  9. Ahhh yes, that's what I got rid of (in a Celica T-Sport) to get the zed. It was a very fun engine when driven hard and the character of the car and engine really did push you to drive the nuts off of it at every opportunity! I find the Zed positively laid-back in comparison! Oh and the non "-S" exige used the engine without a supercharger and I'm driving one of them at Thruxton some time this year
  10. Haha, the Zed won you over with her charms
  11. IMHO, it isn't ideal but it'll be ok. Just get saving and replace the other pair when you can. Right now I have 040 on the front and some cheap rubbish on the back (thanks for that Nissan Shepperton), hence getting all 4 done on friday. When grip is lacking on the roads the back goes suddenly, without warning, at times that don't make sense, which I'm pretty sure is down to the bad tyre set up. At least in your case you'll have the best rubber where it should be, on the back. All just my opinion of course.
  12. Yep, that's right for the rear assuming you're on rays wheels, 35 would have been a lower profile
  13. Why are you going for non standard sizes?
  14. Not sure what wheels you have (looks like rays in your sig?) but the rear tyres certainly are bigger. The part you've posted "Bridgestone Potenza RE040" just described the manufacturer and range of tyre. The size will also be on the tyre wall. The standard sizes on the rays are: Front: 225/45 R18 Rear: 245/45 R18. You can read more about tyre size indications here: http://www.performancealloys.com/find_tyresize.asp Hope that helps I'm booked in to have a set of Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas fitted on friday
  15. +1 Even if you assume that the GTi and the Zed were identical in terms of acceleration and top speed, wouldn't you still choose the Zed?
  16. Wow, that's much worse than the little misshapen bit on my wheel! Though for £200 there is a front Rays on ebay at the moment. I don't think it will come to that though. Fingers crossed.
  17. +1 For the cost and effort of fitting the Bose, it would be better to fit good quality kit instead.
  18. Mine is Rays too, so 18" and 45 profile tyre. I don't think the dent is actually serious, its just such a disappointment, especially on a wheel that was refurb'ed just a couple months ago. I'm booked in to get new tyres all round in the first week of February anyway (Vred Ultrac Sessantas) so I'll keep an eye on the tyre's pressure until then and see what they have to say I think.
  19. Just washed the Zed and when doing the wheels I found that the rim of the off-side front wheel has a dent. Its not huge, and I don't think the tyre is losing pressure. It'll be the ridiculous pot-holes around here. Some of them are better described as craters, they're about a meter wide. Others are so tightly spaced that you just can't avoid them if there are cars coming the other way so you can't use the other side of the road. And I have to drive those roads to work every day. It would be bad enough but that's one of the wheels that the dealer had refurb'ed for me when I bought the car in November so it was immaculate! Gutted
  20. I found that whole issue to be very confusing and couldn't find any definitive answer to the question "do I need the line driver?". In the end I decided all I could do was install without one and try it. I'm glad I did as it saved me the cost of the extra component, but I can only guess the reason I can get away without it is related to the high power output capability of the pre-outs. I'm sure someone out there has a better understanding of it than I do! Regarding the position of the mic, I've never tried having the mic where the head unit is, so I'm only guessing... but the Zed's cabin isn't exactly the quietest
  21. No, the Bose amp is separate from the head unit which houses the CD changer. I just fitted the Pioneer DEH-7100BT to my Zed and am really pleased with it, but the mic is external. I have to admit, I don't recall seeing any head units with the mic for hands-free integrated. I would have thought the head unit wouldn't be a great position for the mic to "hear" you clearly. EDIT: Some useful topics if you choose to fit an aftermarket HU... The bits you need: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16403 This helped me work out the wiring: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=19787&start=0 And finally, me: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=31174
  22. Shouldn't that be Audioslave? Tarmac, I have the album Cross by Justice, and its excellent
  23. At the moment, mostly Deadmau5
  24. The 20-273 is just another version of the PAC interface... http://www.sextonsdirect.co.uk/ict/p~20-273.html?cat=0 I held off getting the PAC or a line driver to see how my install was without it, and I certainly couldn't describe it as quiet. The spec's for my HU do say the line outs are "1V to 4V", I don't know if that makes a difference, but I assume the top of the range unit you're looking at would be the same.
  25. I'm 31, had the Zed for just 2 months! Bought it simply because I've always fancied it
