  1. Bad news. I hope its not too bad, but doesn't look a cheap fix.
  2. That would look good, very OEM looking.
  3. Thanks for the warm welcome and comments. I've spent hours reading on here so far and learning alot.
  4. I think its the Kaminari front lip... Correct.
  5. Standard pulley I think and just the SST that comes with the Vortech. Not sure if its had a re-flash/uprev I should ask Abbey or stephen really. Have a few Dyno sheets, all around the 400bhp mark. (fly)
  6. Thanks for the welcomes. Update here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=41024
  7. Good info and this does work. I used to do this every winter on the troublesome T-top 300zx.

  9. Has anyone measured the intake temps with these fitted? I'm curious as with the Vortec fitted to mine I can only imagine its sucking in hot air from the engine. I'm not a lover of the look but if it helped my Zed breath easier I would consider it.
  10. Well I finally made a decision on getting a 350z. I weighed up my options and decided that rather than getting a cheaper one and spending £k's FI'ing it and getting it to look how I want, I bought one already done with a good history. Some of you may recognise it from this forum as I bought it from StephenG. I haven't got my own pics yet and hope Stephen won't mind me using a couple of his cos I know you like pics! I picked it up Wednesday night from brighton and had a nightmare journey home, 4 1/2 hours to do 160 miles due to an accident on the M25, but when actually moving I very much enjoyed it! Journey was tarnished a little by a couple of faults arising that I didn't notice on the test drive! First was in the traffic I noticed the dreaded rear Axle 'clicking' (its only done 12k miles) and then when I finally got on the motorway and started to stretch the legs a little I got the MI light on the dash so took it easy coming home. So that's it so far. I've got a bit of reading to do on here to find out how to solve the issues and how much its gonna cost so you'll probably see a bit of me on here in the coming weeks.
  11. Cheers guys, Anyone know of anyone who has had a sc fitted for a lot of miles like 50k? The Stillen one I spoke about is a different one to the one previously spoke about on here. Its a private sale with pretty good history. It would just require some cosmetic mods to get it how I would want it. Its the 50k miles with a SC fitted that concerns me as there doesn't seem to be many FI cars that have covered that sort of mileage to compare to. The tempting part of putting the built engine in a cheap zed is that I decided one day that I wanted more power it would be easy. Would a built engine on its own (ie no FI) produce more power than a stock engine?
  12. Right then, following on from this viewtopic.php?f=3&t=40272 and viewtopic.php?f=21&t=40646 If I get a Z its got to be FI and I think I prefer the idea of a Supercharger. I like the idea of the Stillen kit (I know they're not very popular on here) and would be happy with 380 to 400 bhp at the fly. My budget would be circa 15k for car and FI. I've done a fair bit of reading on here and the forum over the pond the last few days but I still have some questions. Car selection As I don't yet own a zed I would obviously like to buy one that is going to suit my plans best. Obviously a lower mileage car would be best but what are peoples opinions/experiences of FI.ing higher mileage cars. What mileage do you think is too high to start an FI project with regard to the engine and running gear on these cars? Most SC kits I've seen have said for years 2003-05 and 05-06 so does that put an 2002 and 07-08 cars out of the question? If so why? Mods When purchasing my car, what already fitted mods would actually be of use to me with FI in mind? I've noticed that the Procharger kit isn't very popular on here also. Is this because of the early lack of timing control engine failures? The reason I ask is I'm considering the built engine and procharger package that was on here this morning before it was removed. It seems that what was on offer for 8k was reasonable and if I could get a 350 with a damaged or very high mileage engine cheap enough it maybe the way to go. If you missed it here was the spec: 350z VQ35DE (2006 rev-up) engine 8.8:1 compression Wiseco Pistons and Rings (block honed to suit) Eagle H-beam con-rods and pins Arp Bolts ACL Race bearings (big end and mains) Genuine Nissan Gaskets inlet manifold, plenum, deatchwerks 600cc injectors, re-circulating injector rail, and Emerald M3D standalone ecu (pre-mapped) Procharger supercharger kit OR....do I just buy one already done? There is a Stillen 350z done at middlehurst motorsport with FSH for 13k, but is has done 50k since the conversion. How strong are these cars? Can they handle this many miles at increased power? Sorry for the bombardment of questions, all opinions welcome......
  13. Thanks, I'm actually away working at the moment so the Sup is not available to view yet. At the moment there are 3 people wanting to come and collect it on my return. If I do go this route, I wouldn't want to spend more than £15k as I can't help asking myself if the 350z is worth twice what my sup is. I'm also trying to decide if I'm better off getting one that looks how I want it and sc it myself or get one already sc'd and changing the looks to suit. Other than the "will it excite me enough question" I'm also concerned that with the 370 out now the prices of the 350 may drop substantially in the next 12 months leaving me well out of pocket. Oh I don't know, decisions, decisions! you'll never 'make' money on a car... if you do then fairplay... I'd just grin and bear it Get a import Z they seem to be fairly low valued over there for a unknown reason and unjust too but sure it's the buyers that decide... then get her SC'd and kitted out yourself. Haven't seen any nice examples for 15k that has a SC on it already. A few guys on here can give you price guides on SC a car from scracth ... on budget or a more planned more expensive approach. Plenty of people running all kinds of body kits on the site too, would you be a veilside kinda man or more suttle? A you'll feel 10 years younger whatever you do changing from the Supra to a Z More on the subtle side, I really like the Nismo kit lowered with a nice set of wheels. Ideally in Azure blue or black. However, I have seen some wide arch/body kits that look fantastic but maybe a bit outside the budget with a s/c on the cards. I'll have to have an ask tonight in the FI section for predicted costs etc... but right now I've got to go to bed as I'm on nights.

  15. The Zed will still feel slower than the Supra due to the power delivery, if you want it to feel fast you'll have to turbo it to the same power level. That said, the 350 will in reality be a quicker car due to the more modern chassis being more exploitable and being able to get on the throttle quicker with more predictable output levels when exiting corners. I don't really want to go down the turbo route on the 350 as I really fancy a SC for a change. I would hope that the low down torque of the sc would be alot more useful on the road. I don't mind if it feels a 'little' bit slower than my sup due to the power delivery, as long as its still exciting.
  16. Cheers, and thanks for you input. The Sup does handle surprisingly well for a big car as long as the Geometry is set up well. Your right though, getting the power down can be tricky leaving corners. You have to ensure the wheels are straight when the 2nd turbo comes on line or you can find yourself sideways very quickly!
  17. Hi Guys, As you may have seen in my intro thread, my sup is currently for sale. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=226622 I'm still not sure if I've made the right decision and I'm after a bit of advise. Top of my list to replace the sup is a 350z. I've always liked the look of them ( with nice wheels and a Nismo Kit) and think I fancy something a bit more 'modern'. Now, I test drove an early one last summer and although I loved the way it drove and handled, I was pretty disappointed with the performance. (No surprise coming from a Supra TT6 really.) The problem is I've got the 350 itch again, but I still very much enjoy driving fast from time to time. I've got it in my head now that the way to go is a supercharged 350z. I wouldn't be going for megga power just a reliable 380 to 400 bhp so I wouldn't feel like I was 'down grading' from my sup. Do any of you have any experience of both a S/C 350z and a SupraTT? I'm assuming that around the 380-400bhp mark it will feel as fast if not faster than my BPU sup (380-400hp)? Also, how reliable is the 350z at that level of power? For those that have come to a 350z from a Supra TT, are you satisfied? If not, would a supercharged 350 be the way to go? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just after some advise from people that have experienced both cars (I know there are a few on here). I wan't to be sure I don't regret selling the Sup as I really do love it. Thanks, Sam
  18. Just read the whole of this thread for an insight into what's involved. Great build with some good results. Well done for taking it on yourself!
