  1. John the lights on most Zeds before the upgrade in 2006 are Xenon lights, they are good but like you said the main beam is weak. There are many thread on this topic, expecially over the past few months and the dark mornings and nights. I'm not entirely sure if this is the same on the import models.

The bulbs on my UK 2005 GT are H7 for the high beam, D2R bulbs for the main beam and 501 for the sidelights.

Just adjusted the height of my main beam which has made them even better, replaced the sidelight bulbs with LED and now need to replace the High beam bulbs.

    Hope this helps mate

  2. Wash my every weekend if I can....last weekend I spent 5 1/2 hours on the Sunday and I can guarantee you I was bl**dy frozen by the end. This did include some time spent adjusting the level of my headlights though but well chuffed with the effort :D

  3. Poor show though on the ebay guys who get good feedback 2 days after fitting when they then blow a week later but can then sell 1000's.

    Fingers crossed!

I'm with you on this one...you look at their status' and the amount of sales they've made and you kinda believe that they must be selling a good product...pity ebay doesn't allow you to alter or update your feedback!

    Anyway thanks again mate

  4. Only now just got around to doing this modification some 4 months on from when I originally planned.

O..M..G :headhurt: Did this take forever or what!!! Went with the 8mm method and I know you said there wasn't much room and you weren't kidding SteveW. Also I've now noticed that you've replaced your standard airbox for an upgrade or pop charger variety. The issue I found was the minute room on the near-side headlight as the standard airbox on mine restricted nearly all movement; the off-side was far easier to adjust.

After what seemed hours...I decided to go for it as my lights seemed very low and the movement against the garage door I was facing was minute; so I decided in my wisdom and even after reading your 'spot on guide' that 4 complete turns would be a good idea :bangin: . That is until my test drive that evening....this is no exageration, on dipped beam I could see the roof tops of the neighbour house and the top of a nearby Oak tree  as for on full-beam....well I think I saw a satelite :lol:

So today I reverted back 3 full turns so I'm now only 1 x complete turn on from my starting position and WOW the difference is amazing :D I can see when I'm going at last, even on dipped and I'm not chasing the stars either! I should have learned by now that technically I'm a dunce and that you guys on here know what you're talking about. If anyone else thinks 4 x complete turns is a good idea....trust me it's not!

  5. Thanks for this topic post Siman350z...I've always believed in avoiding the cheapo ebay option. I upgraded to LED bulbs fairly shortly after purchasing my Zed 2 years ago but I've had nothing but problems with them burning out; it seems I was perhaps buying LED bulbs without a resistor built in and therefore they never lasted any longer than a month or so!!!

This is seriously annoying when I was using them as my front sidelight replacement and was always going in through the arch liner...as soon as the cuts and scrapes on my hands repaired I needed to do it all again.

Even after sorting advice from my local 'Race and Rally' centre and then spending over £25 for a pair of LED bulbs...still they did not last and my patience was beginning to run low. The dealer said it was unfortunate and I was beginning to think LED's were over-rated  I then recieved a free set of LED bulbs from ABD (AutoBulbs Direct) with my wiper blades. Wipers fantastic but bulbs very poor in strength although they have lasted! At this point I gave up and settled with these free bulbs.

Then I read your post and checked out thre Ultra Led website...products and reviews looked good and the prices were almost half of those on the ABD site B) At this price I thought it was worth a punt.

I purchased these for the front sidelights http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/501t10194-ceramic-watt-ultra-xenon-white-p-2395.html as they are specifically designed to withstand heat from nearby bulbs (i.e headlights on the Zed) and these for the rear number plate http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/ultimate-501t10194-watt-ultra-xenon-white-p-1677.html

Well all I can say now is WOW...if these last longer than any LED I've had before I'm going to be one 'happy chappy' :yahoo: as the light they emit is blinding and so white! B) Thanks again!

  6. I meant to add to my previous post that I have met Toby previously and his Zed is very tidy and well cared for!!!

I myself wishing to improve my Zed in the future have definitely taken some inspiration from Toby and will follow in his subtle and sensible modifications.....the carbon fibre small details with the cooling plate and lower bumper trim are definitely to my liking.

To be fair I think I was my most envious when I realised how well his Zed handled the twists and turns around Wymondham on the eibach setup...seems miles steadier than my OEM.

Hope you keep in touch with the forum Toby

  7. Great idea.....I've got an ICE app on my Blackberry which has all of my details and emergency contacts.....has everything including medical conditions & blood type that may all come in useful should the worse happen!

App saved on my front screen so it's easily recognised if phone taken out of case......app is a large red cross on white background!!!

The best part....it's free on BB App world

  8. I was hoping that one of you guys in the East Anglian network may have a suggestion on where I can go to get my motors tinted.

Firstly I'm wishing to get my wife's new Mini Cooper tinted as a surprise for her birthday and if the company do a good job, move onto my Zed.

I'm not saying her Mini is a guinea pig but it would be going first ;)

I want to get these done professionally with a company who has a workshop area as oppossed to those comopany's you find listed everywhere operating from a mobile van.........don't really see they how they can produce a quality finish on the side of a dusty road!

I've been on google and a few company's listed include 1-2 Tint.com, Sun 2 Shade, 1st Glass Care, Over Revs and all of these are within easy reach. The only issue is they all seem to be very small company's with slightly amateurish websites and pokey premises.....now I'm not trying to be a snob but I always view a successful company by their premises and setup!

Does a company operating out of a tiny workshop in a rough area on a small local industrial estate mean they are not that good............or just that the Tinting industry is not a massive market???

Any help or guidance greatly appreciated

Oh...almost forgot; I spoke to 1st Glass Care this afternoon as at the moment they seemed to be the most professional in first appearance and their websites had many examples of work they have completed. Price quoted was good..................but they couldn't fit me in until late December :scare: What? Supposingly they only have one fitter who completes the car tinting and he's on a course for 4 weeks!!!! Really???

  9. I don't think they will do any damage to the car, they might just burn themselves out like mine did

I had the one's without resistors it seems and I was changing them once a month......which trust me is annoying when going through the arch!!!

My hands were in pieces as soon as they healed

Definitely will be buying resisted LED's going forward!

  10. Well, apart from the Ikea Tonneau (Vika Amon 120cm x 60cm)

    I also managed to fit:

2x Vika Annefors units and two sets of Dioder multicolour lights.

Quite chuffed that I managed to fit it all into the Zed :D

...although my mate did say that next time we shall take his Beemer, lol

    What's he got......a Z4?
