  1. Twin turbo's with forged internals and some serious weightsaving. I feel a monster coming along.
  2. Cheers martinmac. I did think about getting a Skyline but I like RWD too much. FWD is for the Feeble 4wd is for Landrovers!
  3. Bit grubby in the pic and the rear edge of the bonnet has been dropped again now. Also the SX badges on the sills are now removed. Old Datsuns never die they just get faster!
  4. 470 Bhp at the rear wheels. Flywheel figures are only good for Bar room bragging rights! Hope the pic works.
  5. Push the pistons back into the caliper with a lever while the disc is still in situ and keep an eye on the opposing pistons or they will pop out! It's not quite as easy then. As the rest have said, 2 bolts for the caliper then the disc slides off, it may however be retained by a small screw so just losen this and off it wil pop. If you're scared at the prospect of the pistons popping out of the caliper you can buy a piston spreader tool from sealey for about £20. This decice pushes both pairs of pistons back simultaneously. Hope this helps.
  6. Repair must be in the middle 2 thirds of the tyre. Thats the legal requirement. Love to see these templates though, eve as a Pirrelli Gold dealer I never came accross these. I wonder where they got invented?
  7. Cheers for the welcomes guys. I'd love to show you a pic of my car but I can't seem to get a pic to load up.
  8. Well my advice on Detailing cars comes from a very good friend of mine who details exotics for a living. You don't charge £1000 a time and get flown around the world to prep cars for such events as The Pebble Beach concours without some degree of knowledge. Maybe your idea of sealant and polish differ from what is truly the case. I hope this helps you in your endevours.
  9. A good polish should only have a minimal cutting compound content. Better still none at all. After all it's not really for restorative treatments. Thus if you use a good one it will not Cut through the sealant. It will however help build up the Depth on top of the paint thus filling in any swirls and allowing a greater sheen with the Wax coat.
  10. Tyre pressure and wear are the obvious starting points. You may find that a tyre has gone "out of shape". This is rare but I have seen it happen a few times. Have you checked the front to rear step off. I.e are the front and rear ends of the car lined up? This is an often overlooked measurement when a car is aligned as in my experience many Alignment centers don't understand that piece of data and ignore it. This leads to all sorts of handling maladies. If you've replaced all the parts you mention I'd start looking at other areas of the alignment and tyre set up. If I can be any more help please Pm me. This is what I do for a living. ( Automotive Development Engineer )
  11. The sealant does what it says on the tin. It seals the paint and it's neutral in it's chemical make up. Some polishes and waxes can react with some types of paint. Particularly if the car has any SMART repairs. The sealant prevents this from happening. You then polish and wax effectively on top of this protective coating, et Voila! A lovely shiney Car. If you want to know more about techniques have a look on the site www.detailingworld.co.uk.
  12. Sealant, then polish then Wax. If you're looking for the ultimate in shine I would recomend anything in the Dodo Juice range. I've tried most products over the years but nothing comes close to the results I've had with these products. try a company called "The Ultimate Finish", They will advise you on the specifics for your car. Dodo do a range of waxes suitable for differing colours. If you want to check out the results look for The Damson Datsun on the Sxoc stand at Japfest.
  13. Or maybe just a lot of time and patience. Not to mention a bit of talent with the Spanners. I'm an Automotive/Motorsport Engineer by trade. Cheers for the welcome Guys.

    New Tyres

Vredestein Sessantas are a superb Tyre in both wet and dry. This is based on a lot of testing at Milbrook on a Pre production Gt car. Both in Subjective and measured tests the Vred's were superb. Only beaten by the Goodyear Eagle F1. The more track orientated tyres such as the Assymetrico's obviously tested to higher limits. However when you take into account the price and durability it's a walkover. Also don't discount the Avon ZZ3. The new compund is superb, I run them on my 200sx with 500 Bhp. ( Automotive Development Engineer )
  15. Hi all. I'm a Datsun fan just like you guys. Currently running a 500 Bhp 200sx (s14a). Been interested in the 350z for a while now and having had the opportunity to drive one on several occasions I do like them. Who's got the trickest car on here and whats been done to it? I'll be looking to build a monster if I decide it's time for a change. Hope to catch some of you guys at many of the jap shows this year. I'll be on the SXOC stand with the Damson Datsun so pop along and say Hi.
