  1. Very nice as ever Tim, you taking booking for June yet. :)

Do you have any paint left on your car Mart?:lol::lol:

Should be down to the gunmetal anytime now. :p

Thats the nicest colour of primer anyways :p;)

I agree, red oxide is a little '1980s' for me.

Ah Stew, I like red oxide, reminds me of boiler rooms from my nuclear days...steam pipes and all that
  2. Hi Graham!

What ever you do dont start using metal polish! In theory if they do have the lacquer thats a good thing, bare matal wheels are a total pain to look after.

Right, the Meguiars Hot Rims should be fine (have a read of the bottle but I'm 99% sure thats what it'll say)

Snow foam wont do any harm either, and the other product I know is fine for them is the Wolfs Chemicals De-Ironiser/brake duster product. Guaranteed safe on all wheel types, but as you already have the hot rims you dont need to replace anything yet ;)

  3. Are you using a lower quality camera than usual Tim? The finished images don't look as sharp as they normally do.....

The images aren't showing the best of your work if I'm being honest. I know exactly how it will look (regularly using Jeffs on a solid white car) but the finished pics don't look right. Maybe it's the lighting in the building!

HI Stew, good to hear from you!

Same camera as ever, my 10mp Sony DSC point and shoot. It always struggles indoors to take a good pic. I have considered a DSLR but I dont feel I'd take as many pics as I currently. The Sony fits in my pocket and is easy to fire a pic off with, but I know I really do need a better option for indoors.

I did a Porsche Panamera in an underground car park, and whilst I could see the car well with my eyes, the camera pics are pretty poor!

  4. I (Envy Valeting) was very pleased to be invited by a Detailing World member to detail his new Audi RS5 prior to collection. Audi Poole were very accomadating in allowing me to do the car offsite, and could not have been more helpful

The car was pretty much untouched (as requested) before I commenced work.

Basically the RS5's exterior was treated like all other cars I detail and subject to the full wash, clay, cleanse and seal regime. Wheels 1st with AS Smart wheels, and then given a final clean with Wolfs Chemicals clean and protect.

The protective coverings were removed and the car was pre-soaked with mild TFR, rinsed, then washed with the traditional 2 bucket method, and then covered with Autobrite's Purple rain....plenty of fallout!

Door shuts etc given a dose of mild APC and agitated with Envy brushes whilst the purple rain did its thing. The purple rain step was repeated on this car.

The car was rinsed off at high pressure then washed again with TBM and Gold class shampoo.

    Ready to go indoors....

    DSC05779.jpg

Once dried off the car was clayed with Dodo Juice gentle grey clay, and I found 2 spurious marks on the bonnet and a scuff so the bonnet was machined with S17+ and a yellow megs pad.

The car was then cleansed with Jeffs Acrylic prime via the PC and a megs yellow pad. Followed on by 3 repeated coats of Jett, buffing off in between coats at 30 min intervals.

Interior wise the cardboard and plastic coverings were removed carefully and the car was hoovered.

Mats and interior carpets were given 2 coats of supagard (as I do with all new car preps)

    DSC05782.jpg

Leather was treated to a coat of Swissvax leather glaze (again something you will have seen me do on new car preps)

    DSC05783.jpg

Tyres were dressed with a long life tyre dressing, glass cleaned inside and out with an alcohol based glass cleaner, exhaust tips buffed with NXT metal polysh.

Exterior was given a final buff off with Jeffs Gloss, time for the after pics...

    Thanks for looking.

  5. Apply a thin coat by a foam applicator, allow to cure (approx 10 mins+), then buff off with a clean microfible cloth.

If you apply a thin coat buffing is very easy.

I have some in my shop if its of interest to you, and I'm doing 10% of all products for the next 7 days.

    Best wishes

    Tim

  6. Gotta say cheers to everyone for looking after my old man.

Says he had a great time and bought quite a bit. (Hope Tim gets kick backs!)

Special thanks to Shire350Z who he mentioned specifically, cheers for putting up with him!

Nice to meet your Dad, had a good chat.

You're the 2nd one to mention commission, sadly not the case. Nothing in it for me honestly, and in truth I didnt really need to drive up to be there either...but whats 240 miles amongst friends?!

  7. Thanks Tim for sorting this out, really enjoyed it and learnt some new tricks and added more products to my ever growing collection
No worries James, nice to meet you again and glad you enjoyed it.

You can never have too much gear!

Beware of a man selling goodies from a tent at LakeZ  I'm so weak :surrender::)

Thanks guys, and thanks for making the time to go to this. Hopefully you found it useful. I have photo's of the light tunnel from the 1st time I went as I'm gonna make myself one one day too!

Was great to see some familiar faces, and meet new ones too.

Thanks to you Ken for pushing this along, and kicking butts where necessary ;)

Look forward to seeing more of you next year (Zedfest and LakeZ are in my diary!)

    Best wishes

    Tim

Resistance is futile earthling  Hopefully I take your money with a smile on my face and in a pleasant fashion. I do appreciate the business but I also enjoy being associated with you, the club, forum etc.

Hopefully thats all, and all will turn up!

  11. Yeah the AG and the Espuma gold are similar in terms of usage.

Put the wax on last, and save the quick detailer for another time. If its the Red Mist you need to allow at least 24 hrs before applying red mist as the solvents can attack freshly cured waxes.

  12. I have a black Z and as we all know they are the hardest to keep looking clean. My problem is not that it's dirty but it show up all the dust.

Can anyone advise on the best Micro Fibre dust brushes to buy.

Remind me nearer to the time when we meet at Meguiars as I have some BRILLIANT lambs wool dusters that are so so so soft they are excellent and I can bring you one. Will need to look up what they cost me but its certainly not mega bucks.

I use them all the time when I machine polish etc, but I dont have them listed in my shop...as I cant work out a way to post them
