  1. Zeds are less difficult (generally) as the paint is softer than BMW's. BM paint is amongst the hardest to correct, plus Z's are smaller so you'd not be talking BM money. Where are you based, be happy to quote you anytime Tim
  2. Well spotted! Normal M3 alloys are indeed polished but over time the laquer peels and the best fix is whats been done here. Paint the wheel silver 1st the re-paint the inners black. Looks the same from afar but more durable.
  3. Oh and Autobrite direct have a group buy on at the moment for £38.50 for a foam lance DELIVERED. I paid £60 odd for mine so thats a bargain!
  4. Most "good" snow foams you will be able to find out if they are wax or LSP friendly (last stage product) from the vendors, or the information will be common knowledge amongst those that use it. I use 2 types and I know both are fine or I'd use another that was fine! You will struggle to get "foamy foam" with any snow foams unless you go down the foaming lance route. Things like supersprays and gilmours give soapy water with SSF, but no "shaving foam" experiences! Tim
  5. A tough cookie this was thats for sure and the work was spread over 3 days, mainly due to the weather at home! Wheels 1st with Espuma Revolution and a selection of brushes inc EZ detail and Envy Brushes. Pre soaked with Envy SSF Rinsed and washed with Dodo Juice Sour Power, dried and looking a lot better Time for a quick look at the reason for the paint correction before I clayed Car has seen a lot of car wash action, but its new to its current owner. Clay time, roof and uppers as expected... Lowers the same... Paint thickness readings were taken and got ready to correct. 1 pass with Swissvax CF pro-gonna need something stronger! Stepped up to 3M fast cut plus The paint was very tough and was needing 2-3 passes over the whole car, then refined as a seperate stage to follow. A reminder why we are correcting! And what can be achieved All corrected at long last Give the car a de-dust and IPA wipedown before retiring for the night Another de-dust and very soft wipe over ready to cleanse and add the Dodo Blue Velvet followed by new Red Mist. Tyres were dressed, glass cleaned, exhausts buffed etc etc. Nice to get my hands on another M3 , estimated time on job 17hrs! Thanks for looking Tim
  6. I'm up the road from you but travel.... www.envyvaleting.co.uk
  7. Who are Envy Valeting? Keen car enthusiast Tim formed Envy Valeting in 2006. Driven by the need for perfection in all he does has seen Envy go from strength to strength. Not just a simple wash and wax. Tim will turn upside down your vehicles appearance and your expectations of what can be done. Using products from all the major manufacturers such as Swissvax, Autosmart, and the catchy Dodo Juice range to name but a few; Envy pick the best and aim for the very best for you and your vehicle. Detailing is often found in 2 forms: 1) Protection detail, where the vehicle is subject to washing, claying, paint cleansing and protection. If the preparation is skimped on, the final end result will be a compramise and not show the vehicle off in its true light. Many owners comment at the cleansing stage that their vehicles look amazing and the process must be finished. Not true, the wax is then the icing on the cake and offers months of protection thereafter (if washed correctly). Typically a protection detail can be carried out in a day, vehicle size dependant. 2) The Correction detail, as above but after the claying stage the vehicle is subject to extensive paint thickness measurements to ensure its safe to machine polish. If there is not enough paint thickness, it may not be possible to carry out this stage. Machine polishing (not mopping) results in as flawless a finish as possible. Swirl marks and minor scratches are polished out from the surface of the paint (and not filled) ready to carry on with the cleanse and protect stage (as above). A Correction detail is typically 1-2 days work vehicle size dependant and is for those that are perfectionists, and/or want their vehicles to look the very best they possibly can. Envy are fully mobile and fully equipped be it a wash, to a full machine polish and paint correction. The most common customer response is "its better than when it was new". More recently we have added our online detailing shop, which can be found via the website and we only stock products we use and know ourselves and have faith in. As such Tim has decided to have a 1 week special offer as an introduction and a thankyou for the warm welcome to the forum! Tim will offer a 10% refund on all purchases via Paypal (shop checkout provider) and a 10% discount on all card purchases (telephone orders) from the goods total. http://www.envyvaleting.co.uk/products.asp Please note if you order bulkier items such as Activo, snow foam, revolution wheel cleaner etc that the P+P figures after 2kg get a lot dearer BUT do not increase and you are covered up to 25kg of weight, so if you hit 2 kg KEEP SHOPPING! Please also note that Postage cannot be taken into account as this is based on actual costs and packaging materials are NOT charged for. 1 Week introductory offer. Many thanks for your support.
  8. Andy, who is Andy? I'm sure I put Adam...... Very sorry at my error:lol:
  9. Now now boys! I was very taken with the BLUE one AND they were nicely photographed:P It would be great to have time to take really nicely composed photos when doing a car but its always grab a quick snap before the foam runs off or the wax cures or before you lose the light. Too busy doing it, to wonder how well the pics could be composed... If I ever hit Glasgow Adam your phone will be ringing to do a showcase detail:lol:
  10. Got it today thankyou very much. When I saw the rings through the envelope I thought oh no another calender of naked girls from a supplier I wont be allowed to look at, but lucky me CARS! Saved! Some very nicely prepped and photographed examples. Very taken with a blue one...... I shall start to dish out the cards too., thanks Martin
  11. Ah, now you've got me curious. Wondering what it is.....does it tick?!
  12. I spread on speed 2 then give it a blast on 5 to work the LPL. I'm not sure you will get an improvement on the finish of the menz but the car will be less oily and the paint will be better cleansed
  13. Cheers Stew, I normally apply the LP and LPL via my porter cable
  14. Envy Valeting are Dodo Authorised Detailers This is a beautiful new RX-8, my 1st to detail. I was due to detail one last summer but the owner chopped it in for a Scoob (and I have quite a bit of experience with those which I detailed. He's now chopped it in for...another RX-8, so here we go! Some befores: As usual start with the wheels, Espuma Revolution at 10:1, Envy Brushes and EZ detail. Activo dwelling Envy SSF doing the same All clean and dry Paint smooth so no claying for once! Cleansed with Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite to look like this Waxed with Buffed after an hour or so during which I dressed the tyres and plastics, glass cleaned, tailpipes polished etc etc. Afters are as follows Thanks for looking Tim
  15. I know, but love jobs like this one. You know its been mistreated but you know what you can do to make it better;) If the customer has never experienced having their car detailed its even more worthwhile. I had feedback on Tuesday and the customer said "Amazing, it didnt look that good when I picked it up new" and thats what its all about for me. Job satisfaction.
  16. Yeah I was asked to make things unreadable Get out there and wash it, it will look great
  17. Evening all A 2 day paint correction detail on an Alfa 159 in a bit of a state. Wheels washed with Envy Brushes, EZ detail and the great Espuma Revolution Foamed 1st with Activo, then Envy SSF Engine had a quick blast too. Washed with SW Car bath, TBM and LW mitt. Dried off and moved to a nicer place and de-tarred ready to clay Not seen clay before, this was from the roof. The lowers were appalling All clayed up it was time to take the PTG readings and have a look at the defects which didnt photograph well sorry. PTG readings all healthy. It was now time to settle on a pad polish combination for the paint correction. The SW CF pro was working nicely with a blue 3m pad and below are 2 typical correction shots that I was achieving. Day 2: Saw me back to finish the paint correction, achieved 2/3rds of the cay on day 1. The side skirts were badly scratched but proved too deep to transform. Time to de-dust the car and cleanse the paint with SW CF and now the Alfa was looking pretty nice. I now applied a coat of SW Saphir to all surfaces and set about the interior....:doublesho I do seem to pick em and my time was spent with water, Envy detail brush, SW leather cleaner, G101, leather milk, Henry, plastic wash and protecton, crystal and so on. I moved on to buff the wax off and totally forgot interior pics, but it ended up looking like new again:thumb: Tyres were dressed, external glass, plastics, exhaust buffed. Final door shut checks etc etc. I'm delighted with the afters: Thanks for looking. Tim
  18. Sounds like possibly you used to much and or left it to cure for too long. Collinite can be a bit of a Bit#h to buff off in both of those circumstances. If you do get into trouble use a spritz of water to ease it, or if your flush use QD. Keep turning your MF cloth, and if necessary use a fresh one.
  19. Hi Bronzee, It wasn't a competition, just a static display.
  20. The splitter/diffuser thing looked amazing close up. Really heavy duty well made feel to it. The whole car looks better when you actually see it (apart from the bonnet wrap!)
  21. The underneath is NOT my work! Sometimes you can go too far The wheel wax as Chris has said IMHO doesnt add much to the finish BUT makes cleaning one hell of a lot easier. The Swissvax is pretty costly for a small pot (thought it really does last) but you can get as good results from something like Collinite 476s etc too.
  22. Again not a 350Z! My lords, ladies and gentlemen. Allow me to introduce the Alfa Romeo Mito Marangoni M430 Show car I was working at the NEC last week with the Envy Show Car support vehicle and was lucky enough to be asked to work on the little Alfa whilst I was there. Yes I only washed it BUT its an interesting car, and the only 1 in the UK. Was just over having been driven from Italy and slightly dirty. Its here for some upcoming magazine features and has loads of interior and exterior styling. 10 pot brakes and lambo doors are the obvious ones! Wheels washed with Envy Brushes, Espuma Revolution and EZ detail. Soaked with Envy SSF, washed with Duragloss shampoo tbm etc. Rinsed and dried. Not sure if you can make it out but the rear has a beautiful carbon splitter, and the car looks a lot better in the flesh. Whilst I was there it was nice to see and have a laugh with some familiar faces and some new ones. Tim
  23. Sorry not a 350Z A great honour was bestowed upon Envy Valeting, to prepare a show winning Subaru car for the Pistonheads Show (part of Autosport International) at the NEC. So the car was subject to 2 days of pampering. A protection detail and I had to make sure it was as well protected as possible as it had to be driven to the NEC. My plan was as it hopefully would be well protected, all it would need at the NEC would be a good foaming, rinse and final tinker....would my plan work?! It starts.....delivered Sunday Envy Brush and Espuma Revolution Envy SSF Gets the dirt off Wash mitt and BTBM Foam dwelling Its all clean, and NO credit to me for this. This is how FMS keeps it normally underneath Here we are at the NEC, lets hope the plan worked! A snow foam and rinse, and a speedy wash with TBM etc and taken inside. I apologise now as the pics are all not that great, but the process worked perfectly IMHO. I am pleased with the way the car came out after the drive up etc, and a good social occasion too..... Thanks for looking Tim
