  1. I guess the only question remaining then is can these spacers make any of the cylinders run lean? Surely if all cylinders are getting equal (enough) air flow, and the various sensors are working correctly, the ECU will set the AF ratio correctly and you shouldnt get any cylinders running lean?

depends on the level of mods to the car

by the time you fit an exhaust, cats/test pipes, spacer, intake, etc it really is time for a tune, as the car can certainly run rich

Spot on as always Adrian

  2. hey am back. was :scare: but managed a good one after 3 takes :teeth:

67, 65 and 72 mind you my limiter is set for 7.5K ;) yep i love revs

I thought you were joking

So you got 72 when bouncing off the redline i suppose?

    What engine do you have?

edit: I just read MrLizard has the Rev up engine so thats okay.

i have the rev up GT4 stock engine B)

i have been busy trying to get info on the Zed and found the following of interest:

    first;

    Gear 6spd MT 5spd Auto

    1st 3.794 3.540

    2nd 2.324 2.264

    3rd 1.624 1.471

    4th 1.271 1.000

    5th 1.000 0.0834

    6th .794 ----

    Reverse 3.446 2.370

    Final Drive 3.538 3.357

Secondly using the above ratio from nissan and the formulae below:

    -TireSidewallHeight = 2*(TireWidth/25.4)*AspectRatio/100

    -TireDiameter = TireSidewallHeight+WheelDiameter

    -MilesPerHour = RPM*TireDiameter*PI*60/(GearRatio*63360)

And assuming rear tire size 245/45/18 the theoritical corresponding speeds will be:

    gear redline @ 7500 redline @ 7000

    1st 44mph 41mph

    2nd 72mph 68mph

    3rd 104mph 97mph

    4th 132mph 124mph

    5th 168mph 157mph

    6th 212mph :scare: 198mph

Abviously if frictional loses are factored in aerodynamic drag, the limiter etc real life figures are less than above stated especially in the higher speeds/rpms.

hope this puts our minds at ease :teeth: That said i do see 65-70+ all the time ;) and i can surmise that your rev limit is at 6500 as from factory and you are running 19" wheels which puts you about 63-66 mph in 2nd

  3. Hey nurrish me thinks we could do this! you supply the expertise and i will be happy to put in start up cash and advertisement :teeth:

what do you say 70:30 split on markup hihihihihihihihi! :p

No seriously we would talk about this on friday

  4. A note to take with these though, i member bigphil telling me these can and do fade, sometimes and look a bit dull, hence why i went for the tommy k badge, just a bit of advice !

you are right m8. i think Envy discontinued their supply due to fading issues however i got the black pearl on ebay from Assad (worcester based) who is a member here and they just fine sofar 2 months on B)

  5. I know its not meant to but increasing the capicity of the plenum increases air supply/flow to all cylinders. im going to run the car for a while and check the plugs again, then if there normal or white should determine whether the plenum is causing the problem or not. :scare:

It doesn't increase the flow, it evens the flow out. You get the same total air going through, just more equitably delivered.

And if my logic serves right, if its providing more flow to the front 2 cylinders, then the rear ones will be getting less air, and will be running richer.

I don't think so. i do agree with Toon chris though. There is equitable flow to all cylinders after plenum spacing so all cylinders will be optimised.

There is a net increase flow in the first two cylinders and therefore a small increase in overall flow which is dictated by intake and exhaust expulsion restrictions/temperatures.

Moreso the ECU will compensate for the improve flow and run an appropriate mix.

i think we need to objectively determine if the rear banks are running lean at all and identify/correct the problem rather than anecdotal evidence

For the general interest of anyone contemplating plenum upgrading i have added this link for comparisons.

  6. Hi everyone!

Just found this Forum...looks great :#3:

Had my JDM blade coupe for 10 months now, i have considered selling her and reverting back to a BMW but i just cant do it! The most exciting car i have owned!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi, i am in Bromley, Kent. I may even be able to attend the Brands meet tomorrow night...;)

    Pics coming soon!

    Hello & welcome bud,

I don't blame you for the dilemma

I have been there myself. Had an E46 alpina B3 cabrio and E46 M3 coupe back to back before the first Zed. both very nice cars but it is a very different buzz with the Zed.

    Stick with the Zed B)

  7. Hello everyone,

Just drumming up some interest before i put it on Fleabay.

I had this unit on my blade silver 350z GT which i sold last year for my Kuro GT4 :teeth:

Had it removed the GT only to find out the GT4 had Tracker monitor fitted

I was going to keep it and use it on my next car (usually swap every year :scare: ) but i know i will keep the Zed for longer B)

It is now boxed and ready to go with all documentation if anyone is interested.

    The main plus points are

1- rebate on your insurance premium

2- peace of mind especially in Europe

2- the subscription is valid till October 2009 transferable!( subscriptions are £132 a year currently)

Professional fitting for the Zed cost £60 at my local (<2hrs labour) but could be more for other cars.

This is what RAC trackstar has to say about the unit:

Trackstar Plus is an insurance approved Thatcham Q rated vehicle Tracker with an average recovery time of less than one hour! Trackstar is a monitored GPS Vehicle tracker which means that your vehicle is tracked to street level accuracy as soon as it triggers as stolen.

The Trackstar Plus is one of the few tracker systems which can be removed and refitted if you change cars. Trackstar can be fitted to all modern 12 and 24 volt vehicles. It is also suitable for caravans, a wide range of plant machinery and some trailers.

Price of £399.00 includes delivery, VAT and Nationwide Installation!

    plus subscriptions

I want £250 ONO for this and would be prepared for any desirable Zed bits as PX and cash either way

  8. Oi Dave you be me to it!

i am happy it got :yahoo:

i was impressed when i saw it in flesh and it has more capabilities than OEM. B)

can't wait for it to be installed now :teeth: thanks Dave

I think if you make these you would have a market without a doubt ;)

  9. Tried dental floss after warming the old badges with dryer and it was still a pain....floss kept snapping :headhurt:

Used 12lb fishing line and sooo easy.

soaked the residual old glue with white spirit :scare: and it literally desolves the goo leaving the paint unaffected

It is a good idea to gently warm the recipient areas before apply the new embles/badges B)
