is it a good idea to drop some injector cleaner in?
I believe that the high octane fual has additives in it that will do this, so no need to buy extra injector cleaner. Happy to be corrected if this is incorrect!

I think yellow is a great base colour for pimping up the engine bay - loads of potential in there - perhaps some matching hoses, re-spray the battery and power steering covers, and engine cover (yellow with black mustang stripes works for me!) etc... and polish than plenum!!!!
Good luck with the project mate

Panic over...
Battery charged, ECU reset ect done... driving well. And after 4 months of driving nothing but shitty, clapped out old Landrovers, she's feeling FAAAAAAAST!!!!!!!!

Hi folks,
Just got back from a tour abroad with the RAF, so the Zed has been on the driveway for 4 months. Unfortunately during that time my good lady wife only managed to start and run the engine once... despite my request that this be done each week!!!!
So funny old thing, she emailed to say it won't start - clearly a dead battery.
Managed to jump start it tonight, and it revved up ok to begin with, but then seeming went into limp mode, with the ESP OFF light and skid marks on, engine management light on and unable to rev above 1500rpm. It's a bit late at night so haven't had time to leave the engine running for long, so it won't yet restart without jump leads as battery hovering at about 8V. Will try to charge more tomorrow.
So, entered diagnostic mode using the pedals (don't have a code reader) but have counted the flashes and have code P1121 which is Throttle Control Actuator.
Car was running fine before I left and the battery was almost brand new. I'm hoping this doesn't mean a new throttle body, anybody got any other ideas?
Cheers!!

* TEGIWA (doh!)
-
***Now Closed***
Attention all early-Zed-front-tow-hook-wanters!
This group buy is for the 16mm tow hook which I believe is for 2003-2005 models. Some later 2005 models may have the 22mm tow hooks - don't really know why they changed it but please just check your own tow hook to make sure what size you have!
They are manufactered by Tewiga Imports in a choice of colours and you can read all about them here:
http://www.tegiwaimp...civic-fn2-1070/ (this is the page for the Honda Civic but you get the idea...)
£35 + £3 P&P
Blue, Silver, Black, Gold, Red, Purple
As you can see there is no immediate discount to the RRP as they don't currently make them and so have to start up production on these. However, they will offer 5% discount if we order 20 or more.
Conditions of group buy:
1. Closing date 21 Jun 13
2. Minimum of 10 required (20+ = 5% discount)
3. I'll ask for payments when the list closes, provided we have 10 or more
4. I will place the order only when everyone has paid me
5. Turnaround is up to 3 weeks from the order being placed with Tewiga
6. I'll keep the list updated as people sign up - please include what colour you would like.
Cheers,
Steve

I've emailed Tegiwa who have got back to me and said that they although they don't currently manufacture these hooks, if a group buy were to be organised then they easily could. I'll do a bit more liaison with them to see what the minimum order would be and the price per unit, delivery etc... and then I'll see about setting up a group buy.
Cheers

cheers for that - i've emailed kode to see if they can help.
in the meantime - anyone reckon this would fit? I (that is, google) make 16mm to be 0.62 inches so seems close enough?
(I wouldn't actually use it for towing the car mind!)

Looking for the horseshoe style for the front of the car, purely as a showpiece. 2003- so I believe its the 16mm screw thread. Can't seem to find these anywhere except USA on ebay - but the shipping charges make it a bit unfeasible!
There are some dodgy looking cheap chinese ones which, just for show, is fine but the measurements (screw diameter 1.1cm?!?) don't seem right!
Anyone know where to get them in the UK or if there are variants for other cars that fit the Zed?
Cheers,
Steve

Morning all,
Deep breath - news of a GOOD warranty experience...!
I've had the Cobra Sport exhaust on my Zed for about 2.5 years - really great looking and sounding system manufacturered and fitted by Exhausts UK in Sheffield. Unfortunately mine has since sufferred some corosion on the flex sections of the Y-Pipe and also where the tailpipe join the back box, and there was a distinctly 'farty' noise coming from it! This shouldn't happen and it is unusual for a stainless steel system but perhaps I was just unlucky.
Anyway, the system comes with a 25 year gaurantee, so here is the sequence of events...
1. I emailed Exhausts UK explaining the problem and sent pictures of the damage.
2. They emailed back the same day, apologising and gave me the option of sending the exhaust back, or taking my car to them for repair.
3. I booked in for a couple of weeks later, took it in, they replaced the Y-section and repaired and reinforced the back box.
4. Price paid = £0
5. Hassle = nil
6. Satisfied? Yes!
Whilst it's a shame that the damage occurred, in terms of their effort to put it right, you can't get fairer than that really, so well done to Exhausts UK for their service and it's great to see a motor company that honours thier gaurantee without the usual battle!

yeah i got a new y pipe with the cobra. it had metal braiding around the flex joints which had rusted so i ripped them out. problem persists though!

cheers fella,
the one above the back box us tight - are there othets too? sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the car

Any ideas folks - it's driving me crraaazzzzyyyy!!!!!!!

Hi folks,
Got a wee issue with the zed. When starting the car, after a few seconds at idle there is a faint metallic vibration comes from underneath the car. It goes away when setting off, but returns a lot more pronounced when:
- accelerating
- any gear
- approx 2750 - 3250 rmp (regardless of gear selection of speed)
Sound like its coming from the passenegr side, but hard to tell for sure. Sometimes accompanied by a 'whoosing' sound at higher speeds (different to th eusual whoosh that is!).
Initially thought it might be exhaust related - got a Cobra system and Berks HFC - on been on the car a couple of years and all looks in decent shape.
As a separate problem, I'm fairly sure my front wheel bearings are on the way out - but might the two issues be related at all?
Sorry this is vague I know, but any suggestions welcome. Will take into my local garage to get checked out, but would be good to go with some ideas!
Cheers all,
-
ok cheers fellah

Hi mate,
Yes would still like one, but no worries if I've missed the order.
-
Hi mate,
Can you put me down for a power steering tank please? When do you need payment?
Cheers

Fitted
Garage reported no problems getting the old ones out or putting the new ones in.
I've only had time for a quick blast but so far the car sounds awesome - a little louder at low revs but not intrusive, then it gets deep and throaty and as you go up the revs it just roars!!!
Will try and get some clips up soon.
Very very happy man

Received with thanks! Getting fitted tomorrow
anybody taken their Z through an automatic car wash?

I think many are answering emotionally rather than objectvely! I have a somewhat contrary view on this...
I remember watching an episode of 'Mythbusters' on Discovery channel (I know, get my anorak...) and they scientifically tested various carwashing methods to find out which was potentially the most damaging. Amongst the findings, the automatic car wash was actually shown to be less likely to damage paintwork than a poor or hurried handwash (particularly if a sponge was used). My main issue with the auto-wash is that they don't get your car completely clean, just the large surface area of the body work and not the finer details - but if you're off to pick up a date and you've not had time.... then surely once in a blue-moon isn't going to ruin the car!
AND
They also proved that a dirty car is more fuel efficient than a clean car because the rough surface of the dirt causes an aerodynamic effect similar to the dimples you get on golf balls.
All that being said... it clean and shiny for me and I do find the methodical process of doing it by hand satisfying and theraputic!
