  1. Had my Japspeed exhaust installed yesterday and I absolutely love it. It has a real deep bellow to it up to 3500rpm and then turns into a howl similar to the stock exhaust but just louder and more ferocious. I really couldnt believe how deep it sounds & the camera in my video really doesnt pick up the bass that well but you'll have to take my word for it. It does sound lovely! It even sounds great just poodling around normal roads at 30mph with the sound bouncing of buildings etc I'm not sure how much louder it's made it by having the y-pipe aswell but the original one looks quite restrictive. At idle it's only slightly louder than standard but as soon as you tickle the throttle or like when you initially fire it up and it blips the throttle its a fair bit louder. The Video - or
  2. Thanks a lot for that I feel better now nice explanation coopers86 and ta for pointing out where it goes ZMANALEX. Definately sounds like a better explanation than "to remove static from the exhaust"
  3. Even though it exit's into a single rear box it sounds very distinctive like a "true" dual exhaust that has twin cans - Lovely and deep and a nice rasp. Sounds awesome! Really good find and well worth the money and effort
  4. I actually just found this on another forum in the US so would presume it's in the same place as a UK car. Still curious to what it does though and if it's really needed
  5. I was just having a butchers under the back of the car and felt around the flange on the main silencer to find the earth strap bolted on. I touched it and it just fell down loose! It's obviously snapped at some point but I'm wondering what it actually does? Perhaps just a safety precaution or like I've read somewhere to remove static from the exhaust system and help with the flow!?? I was wondering if anyone knew where it connected at the other end...like under the car? I couldn't seem to find the other half of it. If someone does know where it connects, I don't suppose you know the length so I could get a replacement from a normal motor factors or perhaps an original part from the stealers?? Thanks a lot in advance
  6. That would be me CS just on my way back from nissan in derby, your car was looking nice too
  7. Thanks for the nice comments. I did look at the Bilberry wheel cleaner but thought I'd order that when my other stuff runs out. With the headlights the meguiars does seem to have some fine abrasives in and the yellow tinge did actually come off onto the cloth. How long they last I'll have to see but for now they look nice anyway Is that turbo wax stuff available over here?
  8. Decided to bite the bullet and get a tub of the dodo juice purple haze and some clay, I'm glad I did the pictures don't do it justice though. To the naked eye it looks like glass Started with a rinse to remove dust and grit Washed with Autoglym shampoo Clayed with some sonus ultra fine using dodo juice born slippy lube - I was amazed at what this took off some of the panels especially around the boot and the sills (first time claying for me) Another quick wash to remove any residue from claying Then dodo juice lime prime glaze which really made the paint look glossy and creates a nice base for the wax Finally the first coat of purple haze wax which was really nice to work with even in this warm weather and then today I put another coat of it on. For the wheels some simoniz cleaner followed by a coat of turtle wax wheel wax and some turtle wax tyre black. Roughly 5 hours work and now I don't want to drive it and dirty it again (not keen on the neighbours giving me weird looks because of the length of time it took either!!! ) The goodies that did all the hard work The meguiars Plast RX is a really good plastic cleaner in my opinion. It did wonders with the headlights that had some yellow/brown marks on them. I havn't tried the red mist yet but I think I will give it a coat of that the next time I wash it.
  9. +1 How much is the Invauto K2 and the Japseed K2? both look similar but the invauto's tips look a little nicer I think, also who supplys them here? thanks With the summer here it seems like the right time to unleash a little more of that V6 howl
  10. I've been looking at these exhausts, definately like the idea of the stock look I just think it's a shame they have included a little resonator in the mid pipe. I think if it had of been a straight piece of pipe like the scorpion it may be a little louder. I'm curious to what it sounds like compared to stock under load??
  11. Definately a thought, I did think they could have done something if they needed to force the caliper bolts or similar. I think when it goes back I will suggest it to them!
  12. They took the wheels to a tyre place because they couldn't do them on site and had them re balanced and I can see the brand new weights stuck on them and the problem still exists. With regards to pads they told me they changed those when doing the discs but I have had to take there word for it because they look about as meaty as the old pads were before it went in. They do seem to have all fresh copper grease on though.
  13. Took the car back on friday, ended up having to take the afteroon of work and sat there for nearly 3 hours while they looked at it. The workshop supervisor took the car out for a test drive and said the brakes feel normal and didn't need bleeding however he did bleed them after I pushed them to and said they felt far from right to me. Funnily enough they did actually feel better after doing that and he admitted it to. The wheels were balanced and he apparantly tested the car to 80mph with no problem .I left there in rush hour so didn't get a chance to get it upto speed until nearly home and guess what....still vibrating. I took the car for steady run round but a good few miles at the weekend to get a feel of the brakes and gradually they started to go a little spongey once again. Today I was on a dual carrigeway and had to brake before comeing off a slip road. (not hard I must add) and the car pulled pretty violently to the right. Now even at 30/40mph when applying the brakes the first bit of travel goes firmer and pulls the car to the side slightly and then the pedal goes soft until finally a little lower down it feels firmer and the car brakes in a straight line. Rang them up yet again and get no concern or apologies from them and all they can say is I need to take it back again. I wanted a courtesy car and they can't give me one until 18th June! so thats now when the cars booked in and I really really don't have any cofidence in them anymore. He even made it sound like they had only bled the 2 front calipers. Isn't it normal practice to bleed all 4 corners in the correct order!!!?? I rang Nissan Customer service and explained the whole situation and they noted it all down and also said I am doing right in taking it back to sunwin derby as any other garage (closer to me) would try and charge me and they said they would be in touch with the garage before my car goes in and whilst it's there to see what they are actually doing. They will then keep me informed. Now I feel I can't really even drive the car until then as it doesn't feel safe over 40mph.
  14. Your right about the digtal dial spoiling the look and the LED fuel gauge isn't that great either. Although for me just the fact the speedo and rev counter look so nice and the rev counter with the big hood makes up for it If I was really to pick fault with the car though I'd say it looks like the arches have had a row with the wheels.....definately could do with some spacers and lowering by about 20mm!!
  15. I would have been coming to this but just got back today from nissan derby and rob from nissan was down there with the 370. It's in blue and the colour did actually start to grow on me as did the angles of the lights etc. It was very quiet in derby though so he was saying he's hoping leicester will be busier tommorow. Had a sit in it and I love the new clocks and other controls. Also all the dash is pretty soft to the touch and feels quite nice. He gave it a quick rev and it sounds very similar to the 350 just a little more of a rorty sound from under the bonnet. If you havn't seen one yet, try and get down sturgess to have a look! Funny thing was it's not a final version of the car...the steering wheel was even badged as infinity. So unfortuinately not able to test drive it yet
  16. Save £1 with 30 litres of v-power coupons: http://www.shell.co.uk/home/page/gbr/pr ... promo.html not a great saving but a pounds a pound!!
  17. Wheelnuts are all tight so they are probably going to need to rebalance them for me. As the for fluid, I did what you said but It didn't make any difference. What I did notice was the fluid level was into the neck of the bottle well over the max mark indicating they have just shoved the pistons back without removing any fluid. Whilst the engine is running it's actually possible to push the brake pedal far enough down to the bump stop on the back....surely thats not normal?
  18. yeah I promise I won't try it while I'm driving It's just the boss might not be happy if I'm out there at the minute under the bonnet!! I will also check the wheelnuts, If it does turn out be be wheel balancing it just seems a bit strange unless they have somehow managed to knock some weights off the wheels when removing them to do the brakes.
  19. Thanks for that Mike, I'll give that a go on my way home.
  20. Sorry to post here and not the brake forum, I just thought it's also to do with the service I've been recieving and people should know. Basically my discs were warped slightly when I bought the car unbeknown to me as I was assured by the salesman it had new discs and just needed to settle down. If you want to see the whole story look here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=21893 Well after that little lot the manager never rang me back, I rang them and spoke to someone else who looked in the workshop to find they had been given the go ahead to repair my car (thanks for ringing to let me know!) that was after they aked me to pay half towards the £600 that it would cost them!!!) . When I said "oh so you are fixing it under the warranty for me then" he just said no its not covered under warranty but we are doing it to keep a good name for our company. He made out they were doing me a real big favour which really annoys me since they should have put it right for me anyway. ...... result though in the end all the same! Anyway after leaving work early yesterday I went back to derby to collect the car. Took it easy for 40ish miles but tried to build the heat up a bit where I could. The problem now is I have a shake in my steering wheel above 50 which turns into a vibration at 70mph. To me it feels like wheel balance...bizarre as It was as smooth as silk just crusing along before. Also my pedal has about 1-1.5inch travel where it feels very spongey before I feel any pressure under the pedal. I thought maybe they just need to settle down so took the car out again last night and did a few braking sessions from 60 down to 10/20mph starting off slower to build the heat gradually and never going too over the top with the braking. Pulled up at the side of the road and the discs were starting to turn a nice blue colour and had some smoke. Came to work in it this morning and still the pedal is mega spongey. So now I've had to ring them again and I'm taking the car Friday afternoon to have a look. I even spoke to the top chap in the workshop who insists they wouldn't have disturbed the hydraulics so they shouldn't need bleeding. What do you think the outcome will be?? I hope its nothing more serious since I didnt have these probs before it went in! I really hoped after all the previous hassle of getting this sorted I could have drove away from there feeling a bit better about things and all I have now is more probs! Such a shame because I love my Z to bits
  21. Just some more info on this if anyones interested! I couldn't get the car booked in for a couple of weeks but finally did for this weekend. (they were fully booked until now) Dropped the car off this saturday to be looked at today (Monday). Waited for the dreaded call after they'd looked at it and have not long come off the phone to them. Apparantly the discs are warped (as I already knew) and to replace the discs and pads it's a £600 job The manager said he was willing to go halves with me on it - what a joke since its probably just slightly over an hours labour lets say 2 and parts will probably only set them back 200 so clearly If I were to "go halves" I'm paying full wack anyway. Typically the guy I was speaking to wasn't the manager. He's just the guy on the service desk and when I started going into the fact I bought the car putting my trust in the salesman who said the brakes would settle down he said he understood me and would need to have a chat with the manager again and get him to ring me. The other laugh was when he said I had done 10,000 miles since buying it in november (I bought it with 49k on the clocks) and apparently the techinican has wrote down the mileage as 57K instead of 51.5k which it actually is...... Now I'm playing the waiting game again and I think all I'm going to get is "well we're doing you a favour since brakes aren't usually covered under warranty etc etc". If they've not rang me in a couple of hours I'll be ringing them back again as I'm without a car now. I'm not settling for it anyway and I will fight it to the point of threatening to report them to trading standards if needs be. Sunwin is really quite big and owned by the co-op and so far the service I've recieved from them is really shoddy as you can see. wish me luck
  22. Thanks for the informative post David, very useful info!. I had been a little busy with work after my first post on here so only got round to ringing the dealers (Sunwin Nissan Derby) yesterday morning and this is kind of how it went: I call the service department and explain the problem and I'm told that the salesman who told me they needed to settle down etc etc has now left. The chap then tells me I would need to speak to the sales manager and he would get him to ring me when he gets in this morning (saturday) I waited for a bit but he didn't call so I rang him..he hadn't had the message to call me. He told me they are going to obviously have to look at the car first before anything else..fair enough fairly obvious so why I couldnt have booked it in yesterday I do not know??? The sales manager left it that the guy in services (not the same guy I spoke to on Friday) will ring me this morning to book the car in. (he wouldn't put me through because the service department is "too busy" because of the bank holiday. I waited and had no call so called back and the person at the other end just picked up the phone then hung up instantly so I left it a good hour and half Well the guy in services didnt ring me back and the time was getting on and I know service is only open until mid day on a saturday so I call services direct. Start explaining the situation to him and that I need to book the car in. before I could say any more he says "hold on a min" and puts me back through to the sales manager...... His excuse was that they are just way too busy this morning and he will get him to ring me on Tuesday......right...... This is my first experience with a dealer as I've always had older cars and done the work myself and so far I'm not impressed at all!
  23. Its on ebay in the states for $995 so fairly reasonable. It does sound awesome aswell, true dual always gives a distinctive sound and it is a proper true dual unlike some that have dual pipes all the way but then enter into a single backbox. I'd definately be interested in this even more so with some nice standard looking rolled tips
