just wanted to bring this post up again, i bought the car off cookiemonster the other day, i asked him to fit the decats for me and the flexi's are dead again, he mentioned above that this is due to the decats not having support? is there anything i can do to make sure this doesnt happen again once i replace? (but still keep the decats)
Cheers
JM
I'd suggest getting some decats that have the brackets on them (such as Berks) for securing them to the oem support. Alternatively you could get some brackets made up and welded on to your current decats.

If it is the common joint to the backbox that has gone you may also be able to get it welded as a cheap alternative.

I didn't think they actually gave any more power on the Z? Not noticable anyway?
I don't want anything too loud and in your face.
I need to get someone to have a look at it and actually find out whats wrong and what i need to replace????
You won't get any extra power from an after market back box or mid pipe. There are some gains to be had from an uprated y pipe and/or race cats/de-cats but that would still need a tune afterwards to get the most from them.
As you say you need to find out which part is affected first. If you want to stay oem then
He has most things much cheaper than Nissan prices.

I'd take it straight back to the dealer and explain that the car has a malfunction light on since it's been serviced and see what they say. Hopefully they will do a diagnostic and be able to tell you what the fault code is which should shed some light as to whether it's related to the work they did or not.

Revup added variable exhaust cam timing.
...and that's where my knowledge ends

Here's a couple of pics of the weave. Sorry they're not great pics but the light was fading.

Not really sure what the technical differences are, but I know it works! I think it's machined slightly differently to even out the air flow to the front two cylinders which seem to be slightly restricted in stock form. Abbey are the guys to speak to on this for a better explanation

i didnt get much torque at all with mines. They struggled to get much power out it at rs tuning. I think the 2.5" centre section on the scorpion is holding back some hp to be honest.... Its a tough one, I made 293 on the first run, and ended with 305.5bhp. The fueling is alot better and runs sweeter. The car pulls smoothly through the gears, where as the torque graph before had a big jump and drop at the start.
To get the torque gains on a 296 facelift car you really need a plenum spacer and an MREV2. My midrange increased by about 30 lbs/ft after a tune with these mods.

Thats the sort of thing i was after, thanks chap. One question though, and no disrespect to the trader, but is all the weave straight?
Working with carbon on a daily basis,i know what a good carbon part should look like. Have you got any close ups of your part fitted at all?
The weave looks good to me. I haven't got any close up pics to hand but I can probably take some tonight for you.

I got my carbon one from EP Racing, a trader on here http://www.epracing.co.uk/Carbon-Accessories/Nissan/350Z/350Z-Carbon-Cooling-Panel/p-75-122-123-1448/
Quality and fit was very good.

Have you thought about getting something custom made? I'm sure someone like Powerflow could copy the design and you could choose how you want it to sound. I'd imagine it would be cheaper too.
-
I have that combination. It made the engine have a slightly deeper tone, only slightly though. Overall volume I would say is about the same. If you want more noise I'd go for a y pipe and high flow/decats. They will make much more of a difference to the sound.

I'm with Adrian Flux and I added a plenum spacer onto my policy ok. It was a while ago but I think I just described it as an intake manifold mod.

I can't really see how a Y pipe would remove the cats? The Y pipe shown above would just mate up to whatever cats happen to be fitted wouldn't it, whether they are de-cats, high flow cats or standard?

I've used Manchester Car Refurb myself and their work is excellent, but not had a body kit fitted. Can't see any reason why they wouldn't though. Just give them a call and ask.
-
I know they're a bit of a Marmite thing, but I like them. Makes the Zed look

These are very good and in Manchester http://www.manchestercarrefurb.com/

Nice to see some quality workmanship
Any chance of you making a decent carbon front lip for the 06+ facelift Zeds in the future?

Nice video, but can't believe helmets weren't being worn

Incredible video, Still see cars driving along the road just in front of it too.
That's the bit that sent a shudder down my spine. I dread to think what became of those poor people desperately trying to escape the massive wave.

Greekman has a Nismo LSD. Have a look here http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=29153&start=30

I'd just buy the oil and fluids needed and supply them to the garage doing the service. That way you know your getting decent stuff put in and it will be recorded on the service sheet as being done.

No worries, I forgot about it myself actually until today
Cheers for the PM
£1000 to spend..

MREV2 is only beneficial for the MY06 engines.
