  1. thats the advantage of good forums at least you get a good cross section of advice . but for the cheap companys all they do is make the likes of me and nick and others have to justify our prices , which if im ever compared to these people i just tell them to go ahead , my prices are for my level of skill and time , its funny but in other businesses if something is cheap most people dont think they get value for money and would rather pay more
  2. £22.50p each , time they pay the tax /NI/ fuel to get to you , cant see them making a living , didnt they not clay the car , if it was filthy and neglected , would of needed it in my opinion. but i am a fussy sod
  3. personally £45 way to cheap for a full valet , £70 ish would be more like it for that if it was me doing it youd get pre soak snow foam washed TBM sheepkin mitt alloys cleaned (non acidic) tyres dressed dried clayed sealant option on wax interior vac all trim cleaned and dressed mats cleaned any smallish stains removed , but the likes of dog hair or heavy soiling would be extra glass in and out rough time taken 4 hours with quality detailing products hope this will give you a better idea , and if he can do all that for £45 good luck to him
  4. always do mine by hand in the sink , bit of washing up liquid and warm water , rinse with clean water squeeze out i normally place one at a time in a towel and press down hard to get out as much water as poss then just leave to dry. then every couple of jobs ill soak them in a bucket with a proper pad cleaning product dont want to contradict any reply really , but as a point each bit of your detailing gear should be kept and washed separately. i spend ages after a full detail getting all the drying towels ,mfs, pads, washed, all separatlely
  5. yes it was, sills were a bit fiddly as so low down but the rest was a breeze
  6. thanks steve , whos doing the paint job ?
  7. thanks paul nice to have an easy one for a change , great work on the TT
  8. hi guys here you go steve mate. not to many befores as it was P ing down , car was not to bad just slightly dirty. ok citrus degreaser and tfr all round lower panels arches and wheels , snowfoamed , jetted off , then washed tbm sonax gloss shampoo , once washed, dried using cobra guzzler towels and moved inside for claying , paint was very clean , then set up for machining condition was ok just slight swirling , so no heavy compounding needed on this thank god . dodo lime prime , and 3m ultrafina did the trick , a few scratches i foumd and a bit of bird etching , 3m fast cut + sorted them out . sealant was duragloss 111 followed by sonax premium carnauba wax pics of finished car thanks for looking peter
  9. not that interesting lol , its just a product that helps making washing the car easier by loosening contaminates that build up on the car , then when after the pre wash and snow foam , your not going at the paintwork to hard with the mitt to get it clean , and as the nissan paint is soft your less chance of marking the paintwork in the wash stage
  10. sorry Traffic Film Remover , Pressure Washer. tyre shine only on the outside of the tyres not on the tread
  11. i use a mix of tfr and degreaser when i do the pre wash , pump spray , that helps loosen the crap , then PW up under the arches , sometimes ill get a jack and lift the corner to get better access , small brushes and a bit of patience , once its clean my tyres shine is duel purpose and acts as an arch dressing
  12. good try , but finish it off , wheel arches tyre shine all adds to doing a job properly especially if your charging
  13. ive got both in my van as i need something stronger for the cars that have never had the alloys cleaned but no need to worry about damaging them as mostare foooked to start with . but for anything decent its non acidic everytime, dont forget you can dilute it down
  14. this is what you need , good garden centre should have them , external thread tap connector http://www.raygrahams.com/catalog/produ ... ucts_id=66
  15. couldnt organise a **** up in a brewery lol , cleaned my car as well , but then it would of put all yours to shame .lol next time soon with a bit of luck . talk soon steve
  16. ok steve no probs , pm replied speak later
  17. yes and i agree, if someone has coughed up the fee it would of been better spent on getting the adequate insurance, but thats another issue of many there atm
  18. the list is just a guide tbh , but chances are if a detailer takes what he does seriously and is prepared to pay to advertise then you should be safe in getting someone who knows wat hes talking about
  19. ok ian steve will give you some feedback on my work if you need it
  20. all it is is just the extent of the work being done . give you a rough idea of what id charge you for what you want classed as a full valet £80 thats in and out and polished engine bay £25 hope that will give you a rough guide if you wanted the alloys done properly then id sugest taking them off,and if you did that on the day say i was there then i would charge any extra
  21. prices are going to be very individual as depending what part of the country you live. my price for a full deswirl , around the £200 mark guys just outside london start at around £3-400. obviously experience comes into it and on the above list its hard to determine that
  22. list here , not all of these are full time detailers but at least you can contact and get some info http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... hp?t=40246
  23. could try and mix it with the paint , when i did steves the wing was full of stone chips , i asked him to build up the paint before i did the detail , all i did then was wet sand the whole wing and polish back up . i can see what your saying , if the chip is full of paint then the lacquer is just on top and therefore will just come off , i think some touch ups are a mix of paint and lacquer so might be werth trying to mix them , then build up in layers rather than one blob as that will have a tendency to come out as well
